[Dark Eternity]

Michelle was impressed at what Artemis had shown. The arrow was indeed something that piqued the girl's interest. "Wow, that looked cool", she muttered, walking over to the target and pulling out the arrow. She took a moment to look at the target. "So this is some kind of energy discharge, interesting." Her eyes turned to the girl and handed over the arrow. She smiled. "I bet you can burn the target down with one of those. Maybe with enough training, you can break concrete with one of your arrows. You should get exercise on your power and your body." She nudged the girl's shoulder gently and turned to the rest of the group.

Corporal Froggers turned to the girls in the same time and clapped his hands again. "Okay boys, switch it up. You can show off. Anyone willing to take another lap or two can join me."

This was the time for the male students to show their powers. Michelle quickly grabbed a group of students. It was at roughly the same time that Michelle had Alex standing in front of her that Beatrice offered David to show off what he could do.

Artemis smiled. "Thank you." She said when people were impressed by her abilities. She didn't think it was that great but she smiled as she put her bow and quiver on her back curious what everyone else's powers were. She waited patiently to see what else they would be doing in class today.

At Corporal Frogger's words, Trey nervously stepped forward, biting his lip. Honestly after the incident with him immobilising the crowd of protectors just a mere few days ago, Trey was pretty worried about showing off his abilities. What if they realized that it was him? It took Trey several seconds to build up the courage to continue, with him throwing debating in his head for some time. Finally he spoke; “Screw it.”

“Ok, so the name’s Trey” He said, nodding around at all of those he had yet to introduce himself to. “I guess what I can do it pretty cool?” At that, he began, raising his arms as he had done so the other day in a very dramatic manner. He concentrated ahead of the group, aiming for a pigeon which had taken this time to land on top of a nearby picket fence. Instantaneously, a translucent bubble appeared in mid-air, encasing the both the bird and the fence. Trey gave a smile at the sight of his success, as well as giving the air a short punch out of joy.

“Yeah, as you can probably tell, that was me the other day” He said, giving a nervous laugh as he once again returned to his more nervous self.

Alex smiled when David commented on Artemis being nice. It was about time that they started getting into this conversation. "Yeah, she's pretty nice. And you like her, don't you? If you want I can be your wingman. I used to watch this show called How I Met Your Mother. I know all there is to know about being a wingman. So what do you say?" He didn't have to answer him right now though. They had plenty of time for that. They were roommates after all. Maybe they could be the next Ted and Marshall, but with mutant powers? That'd be pretty cool, but he also felt that he had a bit of Barney in him, but David was definitely full on Marshall.

It was time for him to show his powers and the one he got to show off in front of was the Jackhammer. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't happy about it. "So I have two powers I can display. One of which is kind of a split. For the first one I'll punch the ground and then you can hit me as hard as you can. After that I'll ask you a question. You don't say the answer out loud. You just think it."

He exhaled and looked at the ground. His power provided him with a good amount of strength, but he wasn't sure about his current limit. He of course knew he wasn't strong enough to shake the foundation of the school with a punch, but still. He pulled his arm back and then brought it down with some force to punch the ground. The punch caused a small shake around the epicenter of impact while also leaving a small crater. He wouldn't call it a crater though. It was only about six inches deep and about a foot or so wide.

The question he asks if she hits him or not is "So, what do you think of me?"

Chris wasn't sure if they wanted him to show his powers or not since he already did while running the track. "Do you want me to show my powers again? I didn't go top speed." In the meantime he watched as Trey displayed his powers. He had a very interesting roommate. A clearly nervous one, but interesting. This was going to be a good year for them. He could tell it already.

He will not be my Barney! He will steal her from me! That was the very first thought that shot through David's mind as he heard Alex's offer of help. Wait...why am I thinking that? David was confused for a second. He quickly glanced over to Artemis, who'd just fired her arrow charged with lightning. "Oh god..." he thought out loud. It will be god damn hard to impress a girl who can shoot lightning arrows. A few moments later and they were supposed to shift. Though David was still quite a bit distracted. Should I accept the help of Alex? Should I even go after Artemis in the first place? She's way out of my league...No! Man up, David Fletchers! You are a man and a mutant!

Right about then did Beatrice ask David about his powers, he literally jumped, as he had sunk quite deep in his own mind. "What? Powers? Oh yes, powers! Right. Euhm..." What should I show? What Should I show? What should I show? David's mind was utter chaos at this point. After a second he got an idea. With his left hand pointing towards the target, he motioned up. A purple haze surrounded the target, making it float half a meter off the ground. Then, with an open right hand he pointed at the target, gathered his particles and launched a small concentration of plasma at it, scorching its surface. Damn it! I have to show I can do more. More! More! More! And with that mindset the target suddenly flew a few meters straight up. Surprised, David released his grip on the object, and it came plummeting back towards the ground. With a dreadful face he turned to Miss Letterman and said: "Sorry!" While clenching his teeth.

Artemis saw David's power and was actually impressed. She walked over to him as soon as the target fell. "Wow David." She said smiling brightly at him. "That was actually pretty amazing!" She said looking back at the target than at him. "I have no idea what kind of power that was but it looked pretty amazing to me." She said smiling as she stood next to him blushing slightly. She had no idea he was so powerful...it made her want to get to know him even more.

Michelle stood firm and nodded when Alex displayed his powers. They were at a considerable starting level. She guessed that he didn't have much time or opportunity to train before coming to the school. "You have potential. With enough training you might be able to create a sinkhole." She of course didn't know that Alex hadn't gone full power considering he didn't know what his full power was. He just knew that he held back.

It was now time for his second display. He wanted her to attack him at full strength. She guessed that he thought her full strength was shown in the auditorium when she hit the baseball. She looked to Corporal Froggers who gave her a nod of approval. She then turned back to Alex and lifted her leg before Sparta kicking him.

Alex honestly wasn't expecting this and the smirk on his lips was quickly wiped away. She sent him flying and he felt his body aching all over. He finally landed, but he wasn't sure he could stand. He knew he had to have some broken ribs or something. This is what confidence gets you in Power Training. At least he wasn't dead, but with the social embarrassment that this would provide he might as well be.

The Corporal yelled, "Someone get him to the Head Nurse's office!! Everyone else can leave if they already displayed their powers. If you haven't yet, continue. We'll work on more in the next class."

"Really?" he asked Artemis with a little too much hope. "I mean...it's not THAT powerful. Not if you compare it with your lightning. I mean, I just fire a few lasers and lift things. But you...I mean you can freaking launch a lightning bolt! God knows, with a little training you might be able to unleash a lightning storm! Who knows?" David was getting increasingly enthusiastic. Until he realized he was getting enthusiastic. That, in combination from Artemis, the gorgeous girl, became a little too much for David who got red like a tomato. Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! It's getting weird!

But right then he head Alex landing, quite far from Michelle. With the Corporal yelling he ran towards Alex. "Ah man, that looks bad. Hold on, mate." he said as he grabbed Alex's arm and pulled it over his neck, lifting him. All weirdness and awkwardness streamed out of his brain and was immediately replaced with a strange sense of fearless duty. A fellow mutant was hit, so it was his task to get that mutant into safety. "Artemis! Could you help over here? He's heavier than I'd expected." he shouted at Artemis, before he said to Alex: "No offense."

Artemis smiled as her went on and on about her abilities. "Well its not Lightning...I think my mom called it energy." She said using air quotes. She was not sure she knew the difference as she saw someone get hit and fall down. She ran over as David asked for help. She ran over helping him pick up Alex draping him over one shoulder. "We gotcha Alex." He said patting his back softly.

Alex winced in pain as David lifted his arm over his shoulder. He really could've died just now. Curse him and his confidence. He pretty much overestimated the current state of his telekinetic body shield. If it had been any weaker he probably would have kicked the bucket. He might have to start writing a will while he's here. He winced a bit more when David said that he was heavier than expected. He didn't even know that he was heavy at all. "N-no... of--offense... taken." His breathing was a bit heavy and he just wanted to get to the Nurse's office already. Artemis joined them and even patted his back. These two were really good friends.

"Thanks guys." Next stop, the Nurse's office.

Michelle sighed and turned to Trey who just displayed his powers. He had a very interesting power. "Interesting. That could definitely come in handy. Since you showed your powers you can go ahead and leave class like the Corporal said."

Was it overconfidence, or underthinking? David didn't know, he only knew that, despite the fact that Artemis was helping, Alex still felt quite heavy. Eventually he tried something. "I really hope this works." he said to Alex, as he began to generate his anti-gravitons. To Alex, it would simply feel as if he felt lighter overal.

The three reached the Infermary, where David put Alex on one of the beds. "Well, I guess we wait here now until the nurse comes along. How are you feeling? You think you broke something?"

Artemis helped Alex onto the table moving over to David as they waited for the nurse. "You gonna be okay Alex?" She asked tilting her head. She was used to getting hurt but no one was ever there to help her heal. She had to learn first aid all on her own. She than looked back at David blushing before looking away. She wanted to talk to David but she didn't think it would be fair to Alex. He looked like he would need company.

Trey nodded at Michelle's reply, glancing anxiously as the group walked away with the injured classmate. He would have loved to help although honestly he doubted that he would be of much help! Instead he decided to head back to his room, hoping to potentially have time for a short nap before his next class. Maybe it would be best to let Chris know that he was bothering him? Trey shook his head at the thought. No. Too much hassle. Afterall, he didn't want to start any arguments.

Falling down onto his bed as he arrived, he closed his eyes, realising a long sigh. His moment of peace was cut short however by the sound the TV. Either him or Chris must have left it on that morning! It was currently switched on to the local news network, where once again Trey discovered that Mutantkind was what everyone seemed to be talking about. It was currently showing an interview between the newscaster and seemingly a local celebrity. Trey had no idea who they were but he knew for sure that this person was certainly a racist. Trey had to turn off the TV before he ended up hitting something. Humankind could be the absolute worst sometimes.
