The buzz in his ear is a vague mental connection between Ash and Eric forming.

Think of it as a direct line. It's not quite telepathy because it only connects them two

Since Ash isn't a telepathic demon his soul doesn't understand the connection as well as Eric. So Eric will have better intuition about it since it is natural to him.

Since Eric is now getting mental signals from Ash I'm gonna use the below method to convey what Eric would feel across their connection

Right now the connection is basically one way. Until Ash and Eric actually kiss Eric can read Ash's mind but the reverse isn't possible. At best Ash can tell someone is in his mind and maybe some vague feelings.

Sorry if I wasn't clear on that. Since he is a guardian he has a lot more control of his powers naturally.
