What exactly is the straight man? I'm slightly confused on that point.

Straight man is the person who sees everything that is hilarious to the audience as strange Or rather the straight man is seen as normal compared to the rest of the cast

Yeah. Another example would be the skinny one from abbott and Costello, or Bob from Bob's burgers.

I also think it's difficult to determine the straight man in Futurama, though I'd definitely say that Leela fits the bill the closest. But she's had her odd moments where she kinda splits away from being relatable to the audience. Can't pinpoint when though lol.

lol No. I love Tina, but she's an odd one herself. How many straight men have zombie fantasies XP

I really did think it was Fry, because the straight man is usually the one who suffers and finds things odd. Fry by the fact he's living in the future pretty much has to find things odd, and let's face it, he's HOmer Simpson in space so he's always getting hurt. As for Leela she's always seemed to at home in the chaos to be the straight man to me, but then again, she's the only one that shows frustration with the why things go, and Fry never really shows that. I mean, he still reacts to the oddness of the future, but he does it in wonder instead of frustration.

Ah, yes, I'm very much reminded by that one time Fry saw one of those car sign flippers and was so amazed by the array of colors and everyone esle is just like, "We feel that way all the time," and then are driven to experience all the oddities in the universe just as Fry does constantly, with a sense of awe and wonderment. I forgot exactly what he said about it. Ah, something like staring into the eyes of God or whatever. The universe? I'll have to watch the episode again.

Thank Jeebus for Netflix. I've been re watching it and am currently on the season that was the first aired on Comedy Central, I think. A few episodes after that whole Leela making a robot of Fry and the stem cells and the, "I don't know which is which!" "We just told you you idiot."

Oh, I remember, it's the one where the cats use Amy's dissertation to steal Earth's magnetic field to kickstart their planet's rotation again. lewl I love Nibbler so much.

As a side note, I do plan on playing a deranged AI/Robot. Or something of the like. I'm torn between playing to trope to its fullest or going about it entirely differently. I think I'll meet in the middle.
