Years ago, a young man had a dream that people with superpowers would all have a place to support one another. Mason Mitchell adopted the identity of Nightstar and was an up and comer in the superhero community, protecting Century City. Rather than go to college, Mitchell used money he'd been saving to purchase the Timmy's Toy World and Museum T Tower and started the Teen Titans. Over the next few years the roster of heroes changed constantly. Nightstar lived for this superhero life, protecting the innocent from threats normal authorities can't contain, helping new superhumans with controlling their powers, and being an inspiration to thousands. Until one day an old friend returned from the dead. After an alien came planet side and returned the first fallen Titan [Push] back to life, the team dealt with the kinetic nightmare that ensued. The T Tower was destroyed, more Titans fell in battle with the undead former ally, and Nightstar was rocked. Bad enough his friends and teammates were hurt and/or killed, but the mayor of Century City is blaming the property damage in the city on Nightstar and his unappointed protectors rather than the real enemy: the alien. Little did Mason know the Mayor simply wanted attention off of his new alien girlfriend who's photo was recently in the tabloids. The politics didn't matter to the hero and leader of the fallen Titans. Rather than use what money he'd earned through investments to rebuild the T Tower yet again, the now 23 year old hero put the time and resources into building himself a new ship to pilot. Nightstar could barely believe he hadn't already done the sort of thing before. With the remaining members of the Titans joining him, as well as an alien ally or two he'll likely pick up in the stars, Nightstar became something more over the last few weeks away from Earth with his powers growing and attitude changing. Nevertheless he as well as his brothers in arms are Titans.

The Titans were devastated when their dead friend Push was brought back to life in a zombie state by some grey alien. After hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to Century City and the T Tower, the Titans fell on hard times after the zombied Push became dead once more upon the exit of Earth by the alien. Founding members Tron and Wrath died while in battle with the undead adversary. Mayor West blamed the Titans for everything, changing his stance on their involvement in taking down superhuman and/or supernatural/alien threats. He championed the idea of a new green-card system to deal with off-world aliens, probably to take the attention off of his alien girlfriend who recently popped up in the tabloids. Rather than rebuilding the T Tower, after the funerals of his friends, Nightstar reached out to Jack Wilson and his father to create a ship that could manage in space. His plan was simple: find the alien and drag it back to Earth to clear the good names of the Titans.

Finding out that Jack had recently taken up a mask and the identity of Multiple, Nightstar asked if he'd be up for traveling the stars. Along with Needles, after the new ship 'Lucille' was finished, the three of them ventured off into space on the trail of the alien. The energy trail left by the alien's ship was identical to Nightstar's, and the additional exposure to the energy transformed him some time later when he burned through a space suit outside of the ship in a new energy form. Multiple was even able to work some of the extra energy into a rechargeable fuel cell for the ship's engine.

More recently the Titans have picked up a couple of alien misfits in their travels outside of the Milky Way Galaxy. Ty'Sun was a fine addition with a smaller frame giving him an advantage in the Engine Room over Multiple. His War Mech, while odd looking, proved to be more than useful in the field as well. Another alien, known as Basilisk, had once clashed with the Titans back on Earth but respected what they were doing going after the alien to clear their names. It's a big universe, and anybody willing to locate a needle in a haystack could've used the help of a bounty hunter.

Present day...

Mason was in the cargo bay, the two story room was about the size of a basketball court with a tall roof. He was blasting targets made out of Alien Coke bottles [because copyright laws didn't extend outside Earth orbit] with symbols on them of a green alien drinking a Coke. Sadly all of the Alien Coke varieties came in the form of a green liquid as well. Nighstar was killing time shooting bottles, the real problem was the shortage of food. The aliens may eat less, but feeding three adult humans meant going off course and taking on a job or two. Maybe one of Basilisk's contacts would reach out with a bounty. Or maybe there was some alien princess in need of saving...

"We've GOT to land somewhere and get out of this ship for awhile," Mason shouted phasing out of his energy form and touching back down on the ship's floor, "I mean... I love Lucille but we've gotta get some food in us, find a job, and get supplies. Can't find the grey alien if we die of starvation..."

There was always something to do while on the ship. The five of them had designed the ship and knew every single last seam and part of the entire thing. So the five of them were always working on either fixing something or modifying some important system. Usually that meant piloting Lucille where they ever needed to go. Epsilon was fixing the power core right now and two others were fixing the life support system. Well they were changing up the systems as much as they needed.

Jack or Alpha as the others called him was training with Beta. Since all of them could work on their own, they all could logically train Currently Jack and Jack Beta were trying to beat the stuffing out of the other in the makeshift boxing ring they had made for this exact purpose inside the cargo bay. They stopped when they heard Mason start talking.

"Well if we had been allowed to add hydroponics like we had in the original plans that would not be an issue." Complained Beta as Jack punched him in the face. "Well then what are we gonna do, boss?" Jack asked as they kept brawling as they talked. Multiple had learned early on to multitask and fighting while talking definitely counted. "I mean we could try and make one. Course the job idea would be faster." Beta added as he kicked Jack to the ground. The pair were clearly focused on both talking and fighting. It was both a blessing and a curse.

December 12th
Chernobyl, Russia

Nix exited his small, compact ship, stepping out onto the irradiated soil. His respirator made a quiet breathing noise as his eyes surveyed the area. He squinted as he pulled the modified Mare's leg from it's holster on his back. He slowly and cautiously crept his way into the deserted and hostile wasteland that was, Chernobyl. His eyes glancing all around him as he made his way further and further into the plant.

He stopped, hearing noise approaching. He broke into a crouched jog before sliding into cover behind a fallen pillar. He peeked his eye around the corner of said pillar to keep a watch on what was approaching. A grin formed under his respirator as he watched a tall, blue, brute of an alien walked along the road to one of the shut down reactors while being followed by two less impressive, skinny aliens. He rose from from his crouch, aiming his rifle and killing one of the smaller aliens with a quick shot to the head. He flipped the gun around, reloading it while ducking back into cover as both the two remaining aliens drew guns and began firing on him. He held a hand to his stetson as the wind picked up, securing it from flying off.

As the firing stopped, he spun and rose, lashing out at the second smaller alien with his energy whip before leashing him towards him. The alien soared through the air in a perfect arc before he was 'brained' by Nix and his mare's leg. What Nix hadn't expected was that the bigger alien was now charging towards him, opting to use his size and melee skills instead of his rifle. Nix was caught off guard by this, a rookie mistake, and was subsequently caught in the path of the alien. The alien ran him onto a nearby wall before reeling back to send a punch to his mask. Nix was quick enough to dodge it before raising his leg and sending a mighty kick to one of the aliens many stomachs, sending him reeling back. Nix leaped onto the alien, positioning himself so that he had him in a necklock while riding its back. He had hoped he was strong enough to pull the alien down enough to strangle him, but it seemed that this wasn't going to work as the alien just seemed to swing and thrash its body in the hopes of getting Nix off of it. Nix sighed, he reached down to his waist and unsheathed his machete from its position in its sheath on his back, under his holster and positioned sideways. He had hoped to get the reward for bringing this one in alive, but it seemed that wasn't going to happen. He began stabbing furiously into the aliens back, eventually getting to the point where it tired enough to be brought to the ground. Nix left it, dead on the floor as he returned to his ship to get his camera to bring proof that he had completed the contract.

As he did, he heard a mighty roar and what sounded like someone dragging bricks up some stairs as the alien rose from its fake death and prepared to charge at Nix once more. It was met with the click of a gun and the sound of Nix's disappointment embodied by a low:
"For fucks sake" and a quick shot to the skull. He wiped some blood from his forehead before continuing to fetch his camera. All the while plugging in his small MP3 player and playing his music.

Present Day
The Lucille

Nix's feet bounced rhythmically as the sound of KC and the Sunshine Band played melodically through his old and battered MP3 player. If there was one good thing you could say about Nix it was that he got his moneys worth out of anything he bought. While anyone else would have just bought an I-Pod or even just a newer MP3 player, Nix was fine with using his old one, cracked screen and all. His stetson was lying over his face and his hands were clasped on his stomach, tapping in time with his feet. He was leaning back in his chair, his boots resting on a table as he slowly swayed backwards and forwards on his chair. He was awoken from his half-sleep by the sound of an especially loud blast from, Mason, who was currently shooting bottles.

Well, to say he awoken solely by that would be a lie. What really woke him up was his loss of balance after hearing the noise which, in turn, made him fall back in his chair and land on his back on the ground. He grunted, rising up and putting the chair back in its proper position. He stuffed his MP3 player into his pocket, not bothering to tie up the earphones, they'd just get tangled anyway. He picked his hat up from the floor before dusting it off and laying it on the table his feet had currently rested on. He made his way over to Mason and replied to his statement.
"You can say that again, haven't had a good meal in ages" He spoke.
"No contracts have come through recently I'm afraid, seems my affiliation with you lot has killed off any work coming my way. I get the odd contract occasionally, but usually it's too far away or I'm not quick enough to accept it, chief" He explained.

Charlie was in his quarters, sitting sideways on his bed, his pillow behind him to cushion him against the wall, and reading. He had a little device, it folded up like a Chinese fan, but opened to a right angle with a holographic display between the frame. The edges outside of the two metal sides were blurry as the hologram couldn't extend further, but didn't have an actual border. He had data from around the galaxy, whatever he could pick up, on it, and it worked on a wireless connection to Lucille, where the large amount of data was actually kept. He had gotten the idea from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Right now, he was examining the chemical makeup of alien flora, and he finally found what he wanted.

Charles got up and made his way to the cargo bay, from which Mason could be heard for miles.

"I got a solution to the food problem," he announced, holding up the little holo fan. "This fruit is native to a planet in a system not far from here. It has essential proteins and sugars, and is safe for humans to eat. Don't know about you, Nix, sorry. It should tide the rest of us over, at least. And it grows on... something kind of similar to a vine?" he was looking at the fan again, "So we might even be able to grow it here on the ship."

Ty'Sun sat in the darkness of T.O.M's cockpit, calibrating the War Mech's decades-old targeting systems. He was barely following the conversation the others were having, mostly because the sound was somewhat muffled by T.O.M's durable armour.
"Well if we had been allowed to add hydroponics like we had in the original plans that would not be an issue." said one of his fellow shipmates, thought it sounded like a mutter to him from inside T.O.M. "Tando'yare wa... What kind of ship intended for long-term space travel doesn't have hydroponics installed onboard?" Ty whispered to himself. Though to be fair, he understood why they lacked a hydroponics system as the three humans were apparently forced to take to the stars in a hurry.

Having decided that he had done enough calibrating for today, he opened the cockpit hatch, flooding the dark space inside the Mech with light.
"You can say that again, haven't had a good meal in ages." stated Nix, the only nonhuman aboard, aside from himself of course. Obviously they were discussing their ongoing food supply problem. Nix went on to make it clear that bounty work wasn't going to be an option.

Suddenly Charles, the Lucille's doctor, came in with a little fan-shaped device, announcing that he had found something that could solve their problem. Ty listened eagerly as he sat with his legs over the edge of the cockpit.
"This fruit is native to a planet in a system not far from here. It has essential proteins and sugars, and is safe for humans to eat. Don't know about you, Nix, sorry. It should tide the rest of us over, at least."
Ty jumped down from the cockpit and headed over towards the group. "That's all well and good, but since Nix and I might not be able to eat that fruit of yours, what're we supposed to do while you three gorge yourselves on alien fruits. Eat ourselves?"

"Moskov Mason. Considering even Nix's bounty connections may not help us here," Ty turned to face Nix and looked upwards at the six foot and a half tall giant. "No offense intended, Moskov Nix." he said with a wide smile, accompanied with a high pitched hiss. "And if the Jacks cannot install the hydroponic systems in time, then might I suggest we head towards the nearest station or inhabited planet, preferably one with a more... 'unpleasant' reputation. We're bound to get something for ourselves there." Ty'Sun crossed his arms together. "Though I can't imagine we'll accept a job that's too extreme. Just something that'll get us by."

Needles mentioned a fruit on a planet not far from where the team was presently, and Ty'Sun suggested that the team should simply just find a cesspool of a planet to find work. Nightstar wasn't used to making these types of decisions, he never had a day job while also being a hero. He had the occasional job on a military base between the ages of 16-18 before becoming a superhero, but this could be the last call he ever makes if they don't find food soon. Mason Mitchell wasn't quite ready to go Han Solo on the galaxy just yet.

"I'll go ahead and set course for that star system with the fruit, looks like we'll have to fly through an asteroid field so somebody should probably go down and man one of the cannons..." Nightstar said going up the stairs at the end of the cargo bay to return to the cockpit, "Needles and Multiple, one or both of you get to work setting up a hydroponics system.

Later...

"That was some fine shootin' out there!" Nightstar commented [to whomever manned the gun] at the dining table where the team ate some of the last food they had which resembled macaroni and cheese.

"I put the ship on auto-pilot, we should be eating fruit within the next hour. Was odd on the specs the ship pulled up on the planet, Nifniy is partially inhabited by what appears to be robotic plant life save for the fruit Needles mentioned. It said there were no life signs on the planet, you think Lucille scanned for machine life too or just organics?" Nightstar asked in the end, looking at Multiple.

Nix nodded to Nightstar, moving to pick his hat back up and placing it on his head. He made his way down into the gunners chair. His gloved hands gripped around the joystick as he kept a watchful eye out for any asteroid. He only had to fire a few times, maybe five, Nightstar was a pretty good pilot so Nix didn't have to worry so much. Most of the time was spent with Nix leaning back on his chair, hoping for some sort of action to come his way lest he die of boredom.

Nix made his way up out of the gunners chair and into the dining room. He took his respirator off to eat the strange, gooey substance known to humans as 'mac and cheese'. Luckily for Nix, his biology was strikingly similar to a Humans, other than his lungs. He could live for about an hour without his respirator on, more than enough time to eat. Throughout the meal, he had been raising his respirator to his mouth and sucked in a mouthful of ammonia. It was always good to be safe. Nix's teeth were jagged like a sharks which had shocked many of the crew members at first sight, but he presumed they had gotten used to it over their time together. He nodded as Nightstar complemented his shooting, before laying his fork down and fixing his respirator back on.

Needles ate quietly, occasionally glancing at Nix to try to get a surreptitious view of his teeth. He was curious about the alien's anatomy.

When Nightstar was talking about the scans of the planet, Needle's chimed in.

"According to the data, these vines that grow the fruit are an invasive species. They choke out the machines-plants or something. I'm not super sure what the records meant, I'll have to see it in context to understand fully. Hopefully, this at least means they won't be too hard to find. We should arrive soon, right?"

The planet Nifniy wasn't all that great. Nightstar kept thinking it felt like walking through a metal planet with Slinky's for grass. The fruit was odd, no two pieces looking similar enough to be called the same shape. The crew attained nearly forty pounds of the red fruit. When the task was done and the Titans were back on the trail of the alien all seemed to be going well. Until three star sectors away something in the engine room started rattling on and smoke erupted from somewhere else in the engine.

"We're gonna have to ground Lucille. I'm heading towards the nearest planet with humanoid life forms..." Nightstar started to say while looking at another monitor and star map, "..looks like it's Tamira for 400, Alex!" the young hero continued on wondering how lost the alien's would be when it came to a Jeopardy reference. Though they did have alien Coke...

About another hour later...

Nightstar landed the ship just outside of some dive of a town that resembled the best and worst parts of Las Vegas with a ghost town, and in a swamp no less. The entire planet was a ball of dirt and the he landed in the one spot that could potentially have a hot spring in another century or two.

"Multiple. Ty. You two figure out what's up in the engine room. On the off chance we need to acquire some parts, the rest of us should go make some new friends." Mason instructed.

Mason grabbed a brown leather jacket from the cargo bay and walked down the loading ramp. The smell of the alien world was horrendous, but the young man would not just give up. He was going to see this through. An alien sign he assumed meant 'bar' was outside in flashy lights with what appeared to be cage dancers like in some of the more lit up Earth clubs. A series of tunnels lead the heroes underground where all kinds of illegal activity could be found. Little devices that looked like flying toasters were all around translating all alien dialects. Well, most of them. It didn't take much time before Mason bumped into the wrong drunk, who's drunken dialect the flying machine couldn't decipher. There's only so many ways an Earth man can read a closed fist heading towards his face. Luckily the Titans' leader saw the guy step into the punch.

As if bar fights weren't bad enough. Alien bar fights? Somebody might lose a tentacle...

Ashkara was walking through Nexxxus, a bar on Tamira that had a reputation of being a hot bed for illegal activity and jobs (though most of those jobs were pretty shady). She had taken to using her terrestrial camo on jobs as a thief, she found out really quickly that it made things extremely easy and that she could make a lot of money. As she walked through the bar taking in the dancers and rough looking people she saw a fight break out. She had never seen an alien like the one in front of her. His skin was a weird peachy color and he had no tell-tale markings of most alien races. A really big Durkin with a trench coat on was getting ready to punch him in the face.

The Durkin were no stranger to her, especially Laus the one currently in front of her, they employed her rather often to help aid in their strange affinity for women’s hair. (More than once she had been hired to steal hair right off the heads of many affluent Tamirans. They were actually a bald species who were very embarrassed by the fact that they weren’t covered on top. Somewhere along the way wigs became high fashion and most Tamiran women wore them even to bed.)

Ash walked up to the hulking figure and spoke to him in his own language. “Ti’Gua, Callor! Du schevnik ishka wallan? Tureg il ma.”
The Durkin had just landed on the floor because the guy he was about to punch was much less inebriated than him and had side-stepped the giant fist just in time. He got up angrily and was staring at her with a look that could bring down a Voldeva (a lion-like creature about twice the size of Earth lions). She wasn’t sure if standing up for this strange alien was a good idea, she had finally been making enough money from her thievery to pay for food and clothes and now one of her best customers was staring at her like she had just shit in his favorite wig.

She felt them before she saw them, the rumbling steps across the floor as about 6 more Durkin surrounded the pair in silence. “She-nov kraal,” said Laus with a deafening roar. ("You're dead") He was telling her to stand down and let him handle this alien. The Durkin were a very emotional bunch who didn’t take lightly to anything they deemed an offense, which was pretty much everything. “Kra-ve le ahuenta?” she asked grinning. The other Durkin began to laugh and Laus continued to get angrier. He wrapped his huge hand around her throat and slammed her into the wall. She kneed him in the stomach and struggled to break free. Why was she dumb enough to stand up against a Durkin?! She had no idea who this alien even was, she just knew what it was like to be alone on this planet. It wasn’t very conducive to survival to travel without a pack here and this guy was headed for a bad night. She fought with the holster she had hidden under her shirt, trying to get out her phaser.

Nightstar didn't know what was going on. Without one of those flying toaster looking things flying around them he had no idea what anyone was saying. It was clear the female was standing up for him, so he wouldn't stand by and watch her get slammed into a wall without making a move. Mason dove forward with red energy emitting from his fist and hit the biggest Durkin in the six man group in what resembled his face. After that and a few energy blasts from his hands, it seemed Ash was making quick work of Laus. No clue where Nix and Needles wandered off to.

"Thanks for whatever it was you said to that guy back there, but we need to get out of here..." Mason said grabbing his coat and heading for an exit.

Other aliens from neighboring space sectors watched as the Durkins picked themselves up, spitting up something awful, and grumbling alien curse words. Nightstar was surprised to have met such an interesting woman in an alien bar of all places. One of the alien translators was beginning to hover around the pair, and after Mason realized what it was he went ahead and spoke while he had the chance to be understood.

"I'm called Nightstar on my world, but my friends call me Mason. My ship is grounded on this planet until my mechanics figure out what's wrong with the engine, but I may need to find some spare parts. I don't care if we have to do a job to get them or if I have to take them, we HAVE to get off this planet sooner than later... does this place have a junkyard around here somewhere?" Nightstar asked hoping it wasn't asking for too much or overstepping any bounds. God forbid if her father was the owner of a junkyard and Mason just told her he'd steal from the man if need be. Talk about an awkward moment.

As Mason waited for her response he noticed her wilder looking hair-do. The pair were in a neighboring tunnel now, still underground, and about two blocks away from the alien bar where they'd just met earlier. Hopefully the flying toaster looking alien language translator didn't fly off before she spoke...

Ashkara pushed the translator away, she hated those things. Around here it was better not to trust the technology, all the information fed back to the government headquarters. The last thing she needed was to be caught up with those bastards again. She holstered her phaser and motioned for the alien to follow her, this could be her chance to finally get off this miserable planet. She hoped she could trust this alien, it wasn't something she did easily, but if she didn't get off this planet soon the chances of her being recaptured were pretty high.

Once they were out of the bar she slipped into an alley, checking to make sure he was still following her. She grabbed him and kissed him right on the lips, lingering a little longer than she should have. "Sorry about that, but that's how I learn your home language. It is a technique passed down for generations on my planet. I really hate those translators, the government here is extremely corrupt and they keep records of everything. Let's just say I'm not exactly royalty here. In fact, if I help you the only request I have is that you take me off this world with you. I won't tell you why, but it is imperative I leave. Now, what exactly did you need for your ship and where is it?" She asked as she slid aside a tunnel cover and started downward.

"Maybe you can pick up a little more vocabulary from me," Needles was in the alley now. He had followed behind Nightstar, tracking his energy signal in exactly the same way that they were tracking their quarry through space. He had been caught up in a conversation with a xenobiologist he had encountered in the bar. Apparently the being in question had run off with grant money from its university, and was living like a king nearby. It missed lecturing in a university, and had been happy to answer some of Needles' questions, even when it turned to the creatures that Mason had gotten into a fight with.

He had slipped out of the bar about a minute behind Mason, when he realized that the aliens might not be able to differentiate between humans and he could be mistaken for Mason.

"Sorry to sneak up, I'm a friend of his. Charlie, or Needles if you like."
