So, the plan is for Eduard and the other four to throw smoke at the rear gate, scale it with the marksmen covering them, circle around the embassy and engage Loos and his men, then make a break for the gate?

Something akin to that- it is basic, but Alvar can obviously do as he wants to sneak the team around.

No one, I repeat, no one is to fire unless they are first fired upon. Our job right now is to observe and contain.”

Something tells me Eduard and his team won't make it very far once they hop the gate, so, yeah.

Not that Bastion knows this...it's designed to go tits up, it's mainly to introduce the characters of Loos and Bastion to each other, and when shit hits the fan, obviously, you can guess what is going to happen. It's a tense situation- but Bastion is taking rapid action in order to save these journalists, and in that sort of heat of the moment, has perhaps forgotten the extent of which they are surrounded, still ploughing on regardless. I can assume that the Marines are still able to project some level of fire in support of Eduard, GLs and sniper fire from the roof to at the very least, pin down anyone watching out, and at that point in time, what happens between Bastion/Loos is going to be very interesting.
