iirc, you mentioned in the interest check that your character is Russian? Mira is Ukrainian so she would speak passable Russian, so they would have that in common.

I am making my character speak Romani and English, so they would be able to communicate for sure.
Haha. I'm actually kind of glad you are making your character against stimulants. I love a little bit of variety in the characters. It sounds like my character will have more in common with your contractee.

Hm, I'm having a little trouble in the magic department. What would a shaman do, exactly? I'm kind of leaning towards a focus on illusion, maybe using symbols on the things she makes with her loom, but that sounds more rune-y than shaman-y.

In my experience, a shaman would typically communicate with spirits, revered ancestors or some other kind of otherworldly beings, and getting aid from them in exchange for sacrifices.

Either that or drop totems and outclass most DPS.

Shamans are a catchall term for Animalism base priesthood really. It wildly varies from region to region. Sprits to take center part most of the time though, and ancestry does play a big part in things. A slavic Shaman might be called a Koldun by the way.

Your magic is bound by contract. Your primarey source of magic would be whatever your Patron being lends you. Often if not always for a price. Other then that, just general ceremonial stuff. Slavic Sorcery and Germanic Sorcery is the main inspiration to most popularized Witchcraft stuff in media after all.

Okay, cool. So it's generally what the patron would lend. I imagined that Mira's weaving was ancestral tradition taught from her grandmother, so I could fit that somewhere. I just gotta figure out what kind of magic Boleyk would provide.

Also: Baba-Yaga, Chernobolg, Belobog and Dzivot are things yo ushould look up. The three first ones are essentially your trifecta of Gods, Baba-Yaha also being the name of the most famous Slavic Witch story of all time. And Belo and Cherno is your basic Ying and Yang. Dzivot is your spirit. Slavic Mysticism is very heavily drawing upon eastern and greek influences. Your going to have alot in common with Varveras Romi beliefs :D

Yeah, I've been reading up in Slavis Mythology, it's really cool actually. I'll read more about those 3 though, I got lost in all the cool World Tree stuff. <3

Romani beliefs are the best; little of this, little of that. Orthodox Catholic with a bunch of fun frills added in. Though voodoo would have been my second choice; similarly taking from multiple religions. Loa are just so fun though.
