Nia hides in the dark, New York city was busy even at night. However, for the city that never sleeps it did seem to run on a lot of caffeine....
From her perch on a church gargoyle she could see plenty of the city. The part she was in swarmed with criminals and gang members. All of them were dangerous, but not for her. Using her cat like purple eyes the young vampire peered into the dark using all her sense to track and find the man she would hunt tonight. As much as Nia was vampire she did have morals. No innocent would be harmed by her. All the people she killed were rapists, drug addicts, abusers or bandits. Right now she could hear a man cornering a young woman in an alley.

Time to act.

Making no sound Nia kept her back to the building away from the moonlight as to not alert anyone of her presence. She crept until she was right above the woman. Dropping down she swiftly knocked her out and leapt towards the man fangs an teeth bared. Covering his mouth so he wouldn't scream she bit into his neck savoring the taste of his life force, heavily saturated with alcohol. Cringing at the taste of bad beer she wiped her mouth and slashed the mans throat and wrists to make it look like it had gone wrong. Dumping him in the garbage she turned and gently sat the young woman up and patted her cheek to wake her.
The young woman opened her eyes blearily. "What.. what happened?"
Nia smiled tersely and spoke gently. "A man attacked you, its alright. Go to that cafe across the street, the man who is there is named Tanner. Tell him Nia sent you and you need a ride home."
The lady nodded and thanked her before hurryingly crossing the street and heading into the diner. Once she saw the young woman inside Nia sighed. She didn't have much more need to feed but to be safe then sorry she would hunt once more tonight.

Rain rushed through the horrible city alone again. man if only he could get a break...his group was such a pain. Rain just wanted to got to the library so he could write the article BUT no..the journalists of his news paper pub had to fucking leave him and go to some bar. He decided to take picture around him and write about what happened at night as he walked quickly long the long sidewalks.

Then he saw it....

A woman rushed passed him and the figure was gone..But that figure was peculiar he knew it.. he walked along the ally to find nothing..but the area smelt of blood. He cringed at the horrid smell as he shrugged it off as just the city smell and sights and headed off again looking for his team. How will he write this damn article if he didnt have a team to help him?

Nia stared down at the peculiar man. He was holding a notebook and shaking his head every so often like he was angry. Was he gonna hurt someone? If so she would kill him. A small patter noise to the left of the strange man alerted her. Two gang members hiding in the shadows, when the young man pass the alley they would jump out from behind and attack.
The young vampire knew this drill well, she had seen it done many times, but that was before she knew how to stop it. Dropping down in behind the to gang members she knocked them out with swift blows to the back of the neck. Tossing caution into the wind she bent down and drained the first man in a few gulps. His blood was a mixture of bad wine and heroine. She crouched over the two bodies and thought as she latched her lips onto the second one how she was going to dispose of them.

Rain felt the familiar shiver down his spine.He turned but no one could be seen. He heard scuffling and the sqeaking of shoes in the blood smelling alley..He hoped no one was getting mugged. By the time he peered inside the alley all he saw was... His throught clenched aand his hands shook...

That figure...was now leaning over corps, doing something to them. He froze in fear, what should he do, call for help? run?...write?
he leaned back against the wall before the alley and peeked over..her face was near one of the corps's neck..His eyes widened..maybe his sister was right.

He jumped over and snapped a picture knowing very well what he had just done was horribly stupid.

Nia fell over her nocturnal eyes blinded by the flash of light, she hissed loudly at whatever it was. One arm covered her stinging eyes while the other was in front of her while her sense tuned for some sort of attack. When none came she waited and slowly opened her eyes and waited for them to readjust to normal. The strange man, his scent was close by and recent. When she found a small hair on the ground she knew she was correct. Nia would have seen it earlier. Her mind raced, how much did he see? She pumped herself the fasted she could go her eyes scanning the night for him.

Right down below her she could see him, she wasn't going to kill him so her entrance would be less discrete. Dropping in front of him she snarled angrily looking every bit the creature of the night she was. Intimidation, perhaps it could work in her favor...

! stopped in my tracks as the woman appeared in front of me. Her eyes scared me..i knew it was stupid but she must be the real thing..if noel saw this she would so happy. i pulled the camera close towards me..my throat was dry but i had to atleast communicate..maybe i wont die.

"e-excuse..me" my voice was a bit rough. i cleared my throat "ma'am,..i know you probably do not want me to take a picture of you...but someone really wants to see you" Oh god 'm going to die..but at least i know noel is right she's the real thing.

I swallowed some of my saliva as i turned my camera to show the picture "is this ok"

Nia cocked her head to the side. Her snarl still in place but this man was weird. She blinks and snarled for real when he lifted the camera. So thats what blinded her! Moving quickly she snatched it out of his hands and shook her head. Placing it on the ground to looked back up at him. Clearing her throat she chuckled, she hadn't spoken human speak in a long time.
"What ye doin' wit' that?" Her slight long island accent shone through. "I don' like that flash.." Looking warily at the camera although she knew it couldn't flash by itself she turned to him. "I looking' for a mate so ye better get outta here this is were my territory ends."

I frowned as I looked over to my now discarded camera. I hesitated before quickly grabbing my camera, giving a sigh of relief.
"well where does your territory start?" i asked while i wrote in my note pad "how do you claim territory? what your name, who did you kill?".
So many questions filled my mind as more and more poured out of my mouth. Man i should learn to shut up..but then again i cant help it.

I cut myself off in hopes she will answer at least one question..This is big..This mean i can fulfill my promise .

The human was easily excitable. His rapid fire questions amused me but what he would use the answers for worried me. His notebook was out and he popped his pen out.
Nia blinked, her demeanor calmed slightly but she was wary.
"What does it matter to you human? It is rude to ask another name without giving your own." Smirking slightly Nia sat layed out on a long box. Her lithe body although relaxed was ready to move and strike at seconds notice. She pondered as she waited for him to answer. Her search for a mate had been long and fruitless, her expression saddened for a moment. As much as she had gotten used to it with visits from her mother and father who lived only ten or so miles from her own territory she wanted a mate. Someone to share the long hours with. Her siblings had mates all of whom lived very close by, their collective territory spanned over 300 square miles with about 40 being Nia's. Her two sisters each had about 40 and her brothers found mates in their neighbors, creating their tribe lands. Perhaps changing a human.....

Her kind look for mates, although the females can't get pregnant their is a blood ritual that will change a young child to have their parents genes when they are old enough to be fully changed then they become vampires. Nia is the last of her family to not have a mate and she is lonely. Looking for a suitable mate will be a pretty big priority. Should we fit that in as your character will become that? Anyway just a subplot idea.

I had to check it out. As soon as I walked in, the smell of blood hit me like a truck, and low and behold, another dead gang member in a dumpster. Same markings as usual, scratched acros the face and wrists, and the two markets on the neck. By now I was shure it was a vigilante, as no normal citizen would hide the body, and it wasn't a regular serial killer, because they were always known rapist, or murderers. I made a call to HQ letting them knew we had another one, before hearing talking a little ways away. I had to investigate.

The sound of a cellphone hanging up made Nia still. Someone was nearby. Moving quickly she pulled the excitable human behind a nearby dumpster. Gesturing for him to stay put she crawled forward on four legs silently.
A man in a police uniform stood with his phone in his hands. Nia stopped and looked down at her clothes. She wore ripped military cargo pants and a tight blue muscle shirt. No blood was on her. If he confronted her she would be alright from a distance. Staying in the shadows she watched him go closer to were the human hid. Acting quickly she smacked her hand against a metal fire escape denting it slightly and making a loud clanging sound echo through the night. While the policeman was distracted she moved around him and pushed the excitable human onto the sidewalk. Flipping like a cat onto the roof she peered down as the man in uniform inspected the fire escape. The dent was in the shape of a closed fist, cursing to herself Nia walked across the roof and back towards home. She had just given him evidence of her existence.

Running to the sound, I found a dented up fire escape. Oppon closer inspection I found the dents perfectly matched those made by human hands. "Who the hell was I dealing with?!" I thought "They bent solid steal with there bare hands, and just vanished." I was going to call it a night and see if I could figure out what the hell was going on wen I noticed the dumpster. It had moved. "so this is were you're hiding..." I thought as I pulled out my gun. "You! Behind the dumpster! Stand up with your hands behind you're head, NOW!"

I felt a lump in my throat as I faced the voice..Oh shit i had the picture... I looked down at the camera from which i was just about to take another picture with...the view was pointed at my face...wow i do not look like a innocent stand by...i had bags under my eyes due to lack of sleep...my lips where chapped and i looked sickly pale..god i needed sleep.
I looked up at the officer and raised my hands "yes officer?" i tried to sound calm but i bet i butchured that sentence with my stuttering.
That picture...im so scared..Hes going to find it i know it..

And don't give me any of that bistander crap, if you were innocent you wouldn't have hidden dumbass!" I shouted at the cowering figure behind the dumpster. "Hm, it's a guy, so not the one who got my brother, and jugging by the camera and notepad he's a reporter, not a regular gangster, and if he is the killer, who dented those railings? Sertenly not this scrawny chump..." I thought to my self. "What have I walked into?"

"well sir its quite easy to explain...look at me i'm just writing a paper about the evil violence in the city and we collage students can avoid it" i cant help but lie...where the hell did he come from i didn't see any trace of him until now..and The lady left i think...damn it! i never got answers to my questions. I cursed myself but then i paid more attention to the man...he seems irritated...maybe all cops are but he looks bothered about something..was he looking for her too..Shit i need this camera to disappear...
