Born Li Xiao Long, Nicholas was the only child of Li Wai Keung and Li Chang Ying. He was born in Hong Kong and moved to the United States when he was only nine months old. Unfortunately he lost his mother at the age of two due to illness. He's never really had a mother figure and his father had always been a drunkard. They hoped moving to America would help straighten him up but once his mother died, his father started to abuse him. Because of this, he learned to become a great actor. He convinced everyone that his bruises were from horsing around with other kids on the playground, and his smile didn’t say otherwise. After five years, his grandmother finally found out and urged his father to let him live with her and her husband back in Hong Kong. Nick's father knew what he'd been doing was wrong and for his safety, agreed.

When Nick was nine, his grandfather passed from old age. His grandmother had minor depression but his crazy dance moves and corny puns always put a smile on her face. Every morning she’d wake up to a joke and go to bed at night after a small performance from Nick. She saw that he developed a passion for dancing and began saving money to enroll him in a school of arts, hoping to enhance his skills. However, his grandmother died of a stroke on his twelfth birthday and the money was put to no use. Instead it was split amongst family.

Nick’s father was also nowhere to be found. Luckily, he had relatives in Seoul, South Korea who would willingly take him in. His aunt and uncle owned an ethnic restaurant run solely by family. Since the age of fourteen, Nick has worked there as a delivery boy. They enrolled him in a prestigious high school called Sevit Academy, where his cousin Micheal had recently graduated. Nick always thought school was boring but did what he could to enjoy it-- like joining the dance group, Real Kings-- and only does enough schoolwork to pass lest his uncle’s money go to waste. On his sixteenth birthday, Nick got a tattoo of a dragon in honor of his grandmother who was the only one who called him Xiao Long.

Although Nicholas doesn’t excel academically, he has a knack for languages and is able to easily pick up different dialects due to exposure of multiple cultures growing up.
In addition to working as a delivery boy, Nick practiced taekwondo for four years, recently stopping the summer prior to junior year.
