Dat Boi Oboi

The Dreaded Devil Emperor

Nickname: Any cool sounding title that inflates his ego. He gets quite cross when people don't say Emperor Oboi.

Age: 300 years, give or take. After awhile he starts to lose track.

Race: Jiang Shi/Chinese Hopping Vampire

Personality: Oboi spent his life as a manipulative trickster, a terror to his vassals and all who dared oppose him. Anyone who was foolish enough to defy him had their head lopped right off on the spot. Nowadays, he’s just an obnoxious bully of sorts. He seems to enjoy scaring humans, but often he’s so hammy about it he only annoys others instead of spooking them. Oboi takes considerable glee in terrifying humans and just causing mischief in general, and will never pass up an opportunity to freak someone out. He doesn’t quite seem to understand the limits of the human form, so his ideas of mischief can range from “Dangling a spider in your face” to chopping off your leg and waiting for it to grow back. It doesn’t help that he knows very little about the modern world. He’s confused by technology and has trouble grasping modern cultural norms. Being born royalty, his immature sense of humor is often masked by his formal way of speaking and acting. Oboi also has a rather old fashioned view of women and their place, something that occasionally angers others. Still, he’s far more mellow than he used to be, due to the parchment covered in runes that drape his body.

Bio/History: Oboi was born during the Qing Dynasty in China, in the year 1717. Born to none other than the Emperor himself and one of his concubines, he never knew (or cared, for that matter) about the poverty and inequality suffered from the peasantry and lower classes working under the Emperor. That disregard for peasantry continued into adulthood. By the time Oboi was a young man, he had accumulated a prestigious education in Beijing, and had inherited his father’s throne upon his death, as well as his palace and all his servants. Where Obi's father had been satisfied by maintaining a steady stream of wealth from manufacturing goods and keeping the taxes moderate, Oboi never knew satisfaction, and he always wanted more- more money, more power, more influence. So, his first order as Emperor was to raise the taxes 15%, something that enraged the peasantry. The peasants rebelled, and started a riot in Beijing almost immediately after his decree.

Oboi apparently didn’t like that, because every last peasant involved in the rebellion was slaughtered, courtesy of his private army. He became even more drunk with power after the peasant uprising, indulging in the construction of beautiful palaces, luxurious living quarters for himself, and the finest food money could buy. Not only was he incredibly self-indulgent, but the Emperor’s son was cruel and ruthless, tossing around death sentences for those who spoke against them like confetti at a party. As China cowered in fear before his tyranny, it also seethed in anger at the injustice he caused. Led by a charismatic warrior clad in red, a plot to overthrow the Emperor formed. One dark and stormy evening, the Emperor was dragged from his palace into the streets, where he was stabbed to death.

Legend has it, that as he was screaming in agony, the Emperor was laughing.
There are still murmurings upon the streets of Beijing that the Emperor lives on to this day, his soul imprisoned in his rotting corpse as punishment for all the misery he’s caused.

Other: In his most powerful form, Oboi can be a terror to the living. The older a Jiang Shi is, the more powerful. In his current stage, he is capable of superhuman strength and speed, heightened senses, and his ghostly presence may even cause the room to suddenly grow deathly cold. Unfortunately, most humans never get to witness the horrifying final form of Oboi- some asshole scribbled runes all over him like a little kid draws on the wall. Because of those runes, his powers are mostly immobilized.

Finally done! I see there are kind of a lot of people here, so if you rather not have me, that's fine.

Awesome, glad to see some people are interested! I'm not exactly sure when the roleplay will be up, since this is my first time making one. I would expect it up sometime next week?

Elias nodded dumbly at the older peasant girl, knowing better than to spout a comment about her status at a time like this. He overheard the thief shout something resembling a plan above atop the carriage. Elias gritted his teeth in clear frusteration. How were they supposed to gather those creatures in groups? Even if they could off a huge number of them, they just kept coming! He couldn't do anything anyway, preoccupied with keeping a shield up. Even more upsetting than the overwhelming situation was watching everyone else fight out of the corner of his eye, while he cowered with a protective spell. This infuriated Elias even more. He wanted to fight to- at a safe distance from the revolting things of course, but he wasn't about to be left out like this! As Elias continued to lose focus, the transculent, shimmering dome around the carriage began to flicker.

The nobleman flinched as the braided member of their party rammed into the carriage, almost knocking over the bandaged girl and causing the wagon to sway. He quickly lost his footing, and the shimmering half-dome around the wagon dissapeared entirely for a few dangerous seconds.

" Watch it!," Elias barked angrily, his face twisting in its rage. The nobleman definetly seemed more tense than everyone else on the carriage, and despite seeming so furious, a closer look at the boy betrayed the frightened look in his eyes.

Hey. Open your eyes. Yup, that's right. Now get up. C'mon, why so weary? You're dead, bucko.
Oh, right. Speaking of being dead...



Now, now. There’s no reason to look so scared. You won’t burn in the fiery pit of eternal suffering, at least not yet. You look a bit confused- allow me to explain.

Every millennia or so, Beelzebub decides to entertain his son with some new… playmates. You see, it’s awfully lonely being the Devil’s kid. Sure, he has those dancing skeletons to serenade him on saxophone and the souls of the damned to play with, but he’s a growing boy who needs some pals. Beelzebub took pity on little Junior once again recently- and he’s rounded up the most messed up, horrifying, degenerate scum of the human race and bought them to his son to mess around with until he gets bored with them. To be quite honest I have no idea what he has planned for you, so think of it as a surprise! Anyway, you, my friend, are one of those lucky humans! So tell me, what crime against humanity did you commit to get here?
Junior, despite being a huge douche-baby, wants humans to worship and adore him like they do angels, so he will be taking you to the human world to commit some good deeds. Your character might help kill a drug-lord, rescue a child from a kidnapping, or prevent tragedy. However, stuff like that is usually left to angels to do. Demons are naturally chaotic in nature, so who knows how these attempts at good deeds will actually end?

Alright, so I’ve been thinking of creating a new roleplay, just for the heck of it. I have the details on the plot below, but I’ll just say what I want here. First off, I really want this roleplay to be something fun and stupid, so try not to take it too seriously. The purpose of it won’t really be to make sense or to formulate articulate plans against the enemy, because that’s not how Junior thinks. Your character will be forced to do juvenile things that make absolutely no sense to achieve a good deed that may or may not actually be good.

Your character’s “crime” can range from stealing the last piece of pizza to eating babies, since the Devil’s standards of evil can vary wildly. My only request is to not make them too overpowered, and to keep their time of death fairly recently.

Elias jumped in surprise as something lunged at the cart, snarling and slashing with its knarled claws. His eyes widened in shock as he got a closer look at the creature- it was hairless and red, covered in patches of rotting flesh. Pus oozed from the beasts. Before he could react, the animal had already lunged for the small girl. He gasped, drawing his arm out to cast a spell before the frail little thing could be torn apart. To his surprise, the beast was impaled by what appeared to be a long, transculent crystal. Ah. So she's not completely useless- at least she can perform elemental spells.

The young noble turned in surprise as another rotting canine clawed at the edge where Elias had so eagerly stayed before. He stared in horror as it grabbed onto his leg. Elias resisted the urge to vomit as pus and blood from the animal dripped onto his clothes. More out of panic than anything else, the young mage outstretched his hand, his palms facing the animal. A small rune etched onto his hand began to glow a luminescent green before bursting out of his palm in a flash of light. As the burst of energy collided with the beast's chest, it fell limp and slid off the carriage. Wasting no time, he tried his best to conjure up a protective shield around the carriage. It almost seemed to work- a transparent green dome began to form around the carriage. Elias found himself smiling smugly despite the situation- making a spell for something so big was hard, and he was quite proud of it. That pride quickly evaporated as he discovered the force field had only covered about half of the wagon.

" What the hell are those things?" Elias yelled, loud enough so those outside of the carriage could hear him.
