Personality

In a nutshell, James is a wisecracking comedian who uses his humour or sharp tongue to get out of tight spots and as a coping mechanism. Since he died in the era he did, he uses dated slang and jokes that mostly get him into trouble. He is the king of snark and always makes sarcastic remarks in every situation. 

Speaking down to people, he dislikes or ridicules them. He is friendly around most people but mostly annoys them with snark or corny jokes. Also, he has a dark sense of humour. Being somewhat perverted and flirtatious, he will hit on any woman he sees. He is also quite neurotic and selfish, which gets him into many bad situations. Most of the time, he is very awkward and unintentionally offends people.

Appearance

He is a skeleton, with his bones being proline white and empty black eye sockets. He is somewhat transparent because he is a ghost, and he has a big hole in his skull, which causes his death. He was wearing a dark red suit jacket and matching slacks. H  is wearing a black fedora with a white dress shirt and a blue tie, dark brown shoes, and an old watch on his right wrist.

History

James was born in Revere, Massachusetts, to parents Micheal Markowitz and Linda Falkenstein-Markowitz. H  was a crack joker known as the class clown at a young age. Because of his jokes, other kids often bullied him, leaving him quite lonely for most of his childhood. During this time, he would practice his material on his parents to some success. In high school, he met his high school sweetheart, Felicity Harris. This woman would be his life for most of his life. After high school, he started working for the local comedy clubs. As WWII began, he was drafted as a foot soldier. He saw many terrible things during his four years in the army. He was being explicitly traumatized by what was going on in the concentration camps. 

After the war, he went back to being a comedian; however, he had picked up a dependency on alcohol. He married Felicity, and the two moved to Los Angeles, where he was given a big movie deal. Things seem to be going very well for James; he is famous and quickly gained a lot of money for his movies. However, his alcoholism and rampant gambling would get him in trouble. As soon as he had gained all of that money, he would lose in gambling. Felicity left with their two children. He was desperate for cash at his lowest point, so he would gamble more or do low-budget comedy movies. One day, while drinking, he started flirting with a woman at a bar, taking her back to his place. He didn’t know this woman was in a relationship with a well-known violent gangster. The gangster found James at the bar a few days later and was shot in the head. The gangster escaped before he could be charged. James's ghost was bonded to the cigarette case he had on his death. The case was moved from place to place before finally moving to Hallow Shore.
