Wakahisa Kanon

Kanon stared at the contents of her change purse in slight disappointment. No matter how tempting the smells that wafted from the bakery were, she just couldn't afford it. With a sigh, she picked up her school bag from the ground and slung it over her shoulder. She had hoped to surprise Shiroi with favorite bread, but taking care of the young shikigami and her assortment of pets were proving to be too much for her measly inheritance.

Maybe it was time to get a job? She was in her final year of high school and could always forgo college to go straight into the work force. And really, it wasn't as if she didn't expect this inevitability from the moment of her father's passing.

Not too far from the bakery, she spotted an underclassman that she occasionally noticed around the school and city. Kanon couldn't remember his name (Higurashi maybe?) but she had heard a classmate or two talk about him once. Not that she could recall what that was about either as she rarely paid attention to gossip, either.

With a friendly smile, she greeted the boy with with a wave. Unfortunately, in her absent minded thoughts about the future, she didn't realize that she had left her school bag open. Or that the contents of her bag had fell out one by one, leaving a trail of paper and books.

Cornelia Marie Falkenrath

The playground was eerily devoid of activity. Only a single child, clearly foreign, sat on a swing as she stared blankly at the dirt. Cornelia was avoiding going home, or more accurately, she wasn't allowed to return home until the night had passed. Of course, she couldn't even really do anything until it was night fall. So here she was, sitting alone in this empty playground.

Or so she thought.

The crunch of shoes stepping on loose gravel made the young blonde look up. A younger girl stood in front of her, carrying a large purple ball. Curiously staring at Cornelia, she held out her ball, "Do you want to play?"

Cornelia stared back, not uttering a word. Play? She didn't even know how.

The girl scrunched her eyebrows, "You don't want to...? Ah! Do you speak Japanese?"

"... yes," she replied slowly, unsure what to make of the situation. Cornelia really did want to play. But... something in the back of her head told her no. It insisted that she would get punished for playing.

She... hated being punished.

"Does that mean we can play?!" The girl asked again with a cheerful smile.

The magus continued to stare back quietly. A moment passed before she shook her head. The other girl instantly deflated, probably disappointed in how her attempt to make a new friend ended poorly.

"Oh, okay," She said softly before walking off, once again leaving Cornelia alone to her swing.

Masayuki Michi

Michi reeled back, wincing at the abrupt pain. Did... did she just get hit? "What was that for!?" She shouted in protest, ready to give this uppity brat a peace of her mind. However, before she got the chance, Rika continued talking to her in an annoyed tone.

Okay, so maybe assuming her partner was a kid from her size alone was a bit presumptious. But this girl's attitude was grating on her nerves. This definitely was going to be a long school year. How did they expect her and this uptight shorty to ever be compatible as partners?

"Kh..." Michi grounded her teeth together, biting back any rude words that wanted to come out, "Fine, whatever you say."

The taller girl shoved her hands into her pockets and let Rika lead the way to their dorm. She'd comply with these ridiculous commands for now, if only to keep from causing a big scene. She really hoped Naoki was having better luck with his partner.

Masayuki Naoki

Once again Naoki was struck by how interesting his partner turned out to be. It wasn't often you saw someone cry actual tears of happiness. He could tell. They were going to be great friends!

"Alright!" He pumped a fist into the air, "Lets start operation be the best partners ever to eachother! First off, find our dorm!"

To say the least, Naoki was just as stange as his partner and shared just as much of her enthusiasm. Cheerfully, he began to lead the two of them out the room. Of course, he didn't exactly remember where the dorms were. But oh well, they'd stumble upon them eventually! Especially if they didn't give up!
My sister had me babysit her baby all week and last so I've been pretty busy. I'll try to get a post in tomorrow, though.
Oh, uh, late Happy New Years, everyone~!

The holidays have been pretty hectic over here.
Spirit Wielder

"Ahah, I guess the cat's out of the bag," With a short laugh, Kanon rubbed the back of her neck. She watched as Shiroi fidgeted uncomfortably under Elizabeth's gaze. If her ears and tail were still visible, Kanon could imagine them laying flat with her tail tucked between her legs, "Er, maybe dog would be more apt?"

As the vampire began to scribble on some paper, she waited patiently for her to finish, leaning back and forth on her heel. The slip of paper was then handed to her and Kanon took the time to look down at it. Well, it wasn't completely unreadable. She could make out all the numbers. With a nod, she pocketed the paper, "Alright, I'll contact you if I see anything and I'll try my best not to get caught!"

Child Mage

"Hm," Cornelia paid no mind to the other woman's complaints about her tone. If she had just listened, neither one of them would have to deal with the other. Of course, the child didn't realize she was the one in the wrong here. Truly, the girl was just awful at dealing with people. But that tended to happen with the sort of anti-social upbringing she had.

"My Aunt and Uncle lives on the edge of town," She answered, looking around to see how to get back. Hoping to get going as quickly as possible, she soon realized a slight problem. She had no idea where she was. If she were alone, she could wander around until she got her bearings. But... with this woman with her, a whole new set of troubles were sure to come from this. Of course, she didn't want to admit to not knowing the way. So, she began walking off at a random direction, "Follow me."
Michi Masayuki

"H-hey!" Michi shouted automatically as she was suddenly pulled by the wrist. Taking a closer look at the person who was pulling her, she noted that it appeared to be the girl she was partnered with. Completely dumbfounded by how small and youthful her partner looked, Michi once again began to wonder if there was some sort of mistake. Was she really old enough to be attending this school?

Soon, they broke out of the crowd and went into the hallway. She was still feeling a little perplexed when her partner rounded on her. Word after word, Michi could feel herself getting a little annoyed. All this talk about business partnerships and not being friends, what exactly did she expect from this then? And why exactly was this kid bossing her senior around?

What a troublesome little girl.

"I don't even know what you'd qualify as stupid," Michi finally answered crossing her arms over her chest, "More importantly... aren't you a little young...?"

Naoki Masayuki

Naoki's mouth formed an 'o' shape as he watched his partner with wide eye'd wonder. This girl had such an interesting reaction! He waited patiently for his partner to stop spasming in every sense of the word. Nothing about his looks seemed to judge the girl. In fact, he still seemed genuinely interested in getting to know her. She definitely apologized a lot. He wondered if that was some sort of game she was playing, who can apologize the most.

Before he could ask her about it, she bowed her torso suddenly, "We'll take care of eachother, right? Isn't that what being partners is for?" He tilted his head while placing a finger to his chin. His question was genuine. He was sure it was supposed to be that sort of relationship, but he could be wrong.
The Twins

Michi had crossed her arms over her chest, listening intently to what the researcher had to say about genetic compatibility. It was when she mentioned the compatibility of relatives being stifled by protectiveness that she faltered, almost sputtering a protest out loud. She held her tongue, though. There was no way the researcher had meant her and her brother. She couldn't be that protective of him. Sure she looked out for him and did everything she could to keep her naively innocent brother out of trouble, but she wasn't detrimental to his growth. Was she?

Her brother didn't seem to have noticed the implications of the researcher's words, or possibly just wasn't bothered by it. Instead, he stood on his tip toes look up at the projection with wide, bright eyes, "Ohhhh, Michinee, you're paired with someone pretty cute~ How lucky~! Now to find my name..."

"It's weird to call your-" Wait, wait, wait. Naoki wouldn't call himself cute like that. Furthermore, why would he need to find his name? Michi looked up at the list and had to do a double take. Sure enough, she was paired with a girl she didn't know, "What...? But I thought... why aren't we paired together?"

"Ehhh, its a little disappointing," Naoki mused tapping his chin, "But this way we'll make new friends, right? I think I see my partner, I'm gonna go say hi."

Before Michi could protest, her brother had already wandered away through the crowd of students. She sighed. Dammit, what was she supposed to do now? She didn't want to paired with someone else, but she also didn't want to go against the school's decision.

Well, she might as well take a chance to get to know her partner. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad? Naoki wasn't wrong, after all. The girl did look pretty cute...

While his sister was still having her dilemma, Naoki easily moved to the center of the group and appeared in front of a girl who was standing oddly still. Not that he seemed to notice, as he leaned back on his heels and smiled pleasantly at the much taller girl, "Hello, I'm Naoki, you're my new partner, right?" He barely came up to her chest, but that didn't deter his eagerness to make a new friend.
The Twins

Michi Masayuki had been sitting stock straight, attempting to listen to the instructors intently. As the ceremony droned on, the girl could feel her head occasionally lulling to the side. She had to constantly jerk herself awake and missed most of what was said. Not getting a wink of sleep the night before was definitely taking its toll on her. Though she couldn't help it if she was (and still is) feeling overly anxious about this new school.

The only solace in this whole ordeal was the boy currently snoozing on her shoulder. He didn't quite have the same excuse as his sister for sleeping during the ceramony but its not like Michi minded much. She was just happy knowing he'd be here where she could keep an eye on him. He'd become her tuner and she could guarantee her airheaded brother would stay out of trouble.

It was as she was having these thoughts that she noticed a faint dampness on her shoulder. She looked down.

Yep, he's drooling. Now THAT she minded.

"Hey, wake up," As she nudged her brother, she heard a nervous voice telling new students to go to room 4b, "We have to go."

"'ive more miiinutesh," Naoki slurred into his sister's shoulder.

The older twin sighed in exasperation, "You asked for this."

The boy suddenly let out a high-pitched yelp that was sure to garner some attention as he rubbed his arm, "Michinee, pinching is forbidden."

"Is it?" She gave her brother a wry smile, "It can't be anymore forbidden than sleeping during our opening ceremony."

"Eeeh?" The boy blinked slowly, looking around to see students leaving their seats. "That teacher had such a nice voice, I just found myself getting a little sleepy. Eheh~"

There wasn't a hint of remorse in his voice. Such a troublesome little brother.

"Come on you," Michi wrapped her arm around his neck and dragged him out of his seat and towards the crowd of other students heading to 4b.

---

As they stepped through the doors of 4b, the yawn Michi had been fighting back suddenly slipped out. She hoped no one noticed her as she didn't want to come off as rude.

"Sounds like Michinee should have taken a nap too," Naoki mirrored her previous yawn and looked around blearily, "Let's find a good spot to slee-"

"Shh, I'm fine, now pay attention," As the researcher spoke, her unkempt appearance and obviously shy personality made the white haired girl wonder why she was working at this school. Though, Michi didn't want to disrespect the woman so she kept these thoughts to herself.

It seemed this is where they were gonna get paired up. Ah, so there was no point in her or Naoki being there. They were obviously gonna be a pair, right? That's at least what she had always assumed. After all, who else would be more compatible than her own twin?
