@Gnar The Missing Link

Yay, an update, sorry I haven't said anything in OOC but I've been busy and chat goes by so fast that I don't see GM posts, but I'm still alive, and sorry for the trouble.
Bump. I hope more people join!

Yeh, hopefully we get at least 1 more, I'm okay with small groups.
  • Name: Alex Yu-Esemci
  • Sex: Male
  • Occupation: Scavenger
  • Age: 25
  • Appearance:
  • Ethnic: White
  • Personality: Blunt, straight-man, matter-of-fact, realist. The world is a lot less safe if you look at it thorugh tinted lenses. Alex doesn't delude himself with what-ifs or shoulds, he takes everything in stride for what they are and makes adjustments to accommodate.
  • Background/History: Traveled for a long while with an eccentric scavenger as they rooted around the remains of old cities plying their respectable trade. The man was competent enough and between him and the experience that came with time Alex became quite confident in his own detritus scrounging abilities. On their many escapades, the man left an impression on Alex, often going on long tangents about a glorious group of warriors that the man's father belonged to. He'd tell about their vast exploits in a great crusade in the holy-land and how they'd always be the first into combat and kill everyone until they were the last ones standing. How they worked with trained seals to assassinate Ol'Sam of Binland, but Alex didn't believe a word of it. But hey, the geezer was good company and after finding a crate of Jack Daniels dubbed Alex an official member of the illustrious Yu-Esemci Tribe-wherever they may be. Unfortunately the old man was getting up in his years and the quick witted -albeit, quirky- sonnavabitch is starting to forget himself with his body slowly degrading as well. The stories are getting wilder for sure but night after night he feels the old man is talking to someone that isn't Alex.
  • Goal/Desires: Keep himself and the Old Man alive
  • Skills: Quick on his feet with a sharp wit he knows how to efficiently prowl through the urban jungle.
  • Family Equipment/Inventory:
    • T-shirt, and jeans combo.
    • 2 Pair of clean undies rotated between each other on a weekly basis
    • Dirty Hoodie
    • Cracked Leather Jacket
    • Decent Running Shoes
    • Large Rucksack
    • 4 Portions of Food and Water
  • Family:
    • Name:Old Man
    • Sex: Male
    • Occupation: Veteran Scavenger
    • Age: 65
    • Personality: Curiously Optimistic, Fading into Senility, Jovial, Jolly, Good-Natured, Trusting.
    • Skills: When lucid, offers a wide variety of knowledge through a lifetime of experience as a scavenger. His aging body has made his supply "runs" into more of a slow jog, but his intuition and sense of direction are second to none.

Accepted, go ahead and post it in characters when ready.
Subbed, interested. Just so I'm perfectly clear on this. Am I allowed/able to make a character that is a thief/that one crazy bandit man that may or may not chop on of your feet off and demand you laugh while you fumble about in the dirt?

Of course. What? You think I didn't expect/desperately need something like that.

That said bad things happen to bad people out in the Greylands when surrounded by slightly less bad people.
This is more an RP advert rather than a interest check. Apparently I don't know how this site works and shoulda done this first but here's the first OOC

Basically you'll play as a head of your respective "family" within a tribe(a large group of survivors. Your main goal is to keep your own family alive (or yourself alone if you don't want one) and at the same time cooperate with other families to survive in this world.

The Greylands

"The essence of the beautiful is unity in variety"

Long ago a great plague swept through the world and despite man's advanced mastery of science and medicine could not temper nature's wrath. Now, some 75 years after the last of the unlucky infected had died off, nature has taken steps in reclaiming what once was her's. Of course as a testament to humanity's stubbornness, resolve or perhaps their stupidity, small groups -tribes, if you will- crawled out from their hiding spot and despite near-extinction still demanded to see nature's manager for her unaccommodating attitude.

Families have regrown and some semblance of civilization are starting to form. However, with the good of man follows the evils. Roving bands of rogues, villains and highwaymen ravage the countryside to take from others for their own. Farmers, ranchers, fishermen or simple scavengers fall prey to these men.

Your Home

The Tribe will decide in a location to live and how they wish to make a living. As of now you guys will start on an old interstate, Ill give options for settlement in the IC once its up. Make sure you know what you want out of this and that it makes sense, going to the mountains makes for shit lives as scavengers and settling in the ruins of a city makes finding large tracks of farming land hard.

Your Tribe

There is safety in numbers and having others you can fall back unto eases the burden of survival. You will play the part of a family head (or loner) who must work with others to ensure your mutual survival.

Perhaps you may just be a quiet bystander only cooperating for your family's sake or perhaps you are the defacto voice of influence wishing to recreate the empires of old. Whatever your motives you are forced to interact with the other tribe families.

Your Family

Your tribe is the safety net, but your family (or your self) is the immediate treasure. You must make sure their needs are met: shelter, water, food, clothing, safety. You must provide for them or risk you legacy dying out in the wastes with them. If you choose to be a loner that's fine as it prevents you from having a large burden, but without a solid force to back you up you may have a harder time.

Gameplay

I as the GM will handle your family needs using a "chapter" method. Each will start with a general state of tribal affairs before a detailed family report for each player. Typically if you made the right decisions your tribe and family will prosper, but I may throw a few curveballs along the way. To keep the story flowing I chapters will time-skip a few weeks in a sort of quiet "down-time" that reflect your decisions that chapter. After said downtime problems with spring back up such as dwindling supplies, exhausted hunting grounds, social breaking points etc.

The chapter intro will include a general tribe "problem" that will need to be addressed. For example, the first problem will be the initial settlement and players will decide on possible settlements before dealing with problems getting there.

Random events are random, these happen during the downtime and are typically benign but are addressed in the next chapter if it's anything big. They won't be toooooo unfair.

Rules:
  • Standard RP rules do apply, and you are responsible for your own family!
  • I like to fuck with your expectations and this isn't some fluffy school girl RP, there will be deaths involving family members but I try to avoid PC deaths
  • If an idea seems dumb, it will probably involve in the death of someone. Ask me if you wanna do something really outlandish.
  • Attempting to fight something you really shouldn't fuck with is not advised but whatever, I'll give subtle hints but if you have a death wish go on ahead.
  • Play as you want. Wanna play as an asshole thief? Go ahead, but don't bitch to me that the other PC's formed a lynch mod to kill you, your wife and that dog you found scavenging the wasteland.
  • Have common sense! Or don't. Whatever I'm a GM not your mom.
  • HAVE FUN! This is a game after all, everyone is supposed to have fun, not only you! Make sure you understand that things happen in character and you shouldn't attack users for an in-character response.
  • I am pretty much the boss-man and the rules may change.

Character Sheet

  • Name: for real fam, you want some help in this part?
  • Sex: Male, female, trans, cis... Dog?
  • Occupation: Scavenger? Mechanic? Farmer? Guard? Lacky?
  • Age: How old are you?
  • Appearance: Picture or description. Anime allowed but let's keep it in the realm of possibility.
  • Ethnic: I have been told that asking "what color you is" is politically incorrect. Same with assuming all squint eyes speak Japans, so go ahead and put ancestral bullshit here
  • Personality: Sissy? Jarhead? Ass? Priss? Include a quick rundown on your modus operandi.
  • Background/History: Tell us a little bit about yourselves.
  • Goal/Desires: What do you want from nature's manager
  • Skills: What made you not die in the wastes and what made the tribe keep you.
  • Family Equipment/Inventory: Since this is a survival rp you are kinda limited in supplies but I will allow a weapon of your choice (if ranged, a limited ammo supply), backpack, casual wear, light outerwear, shoes, enough starting food and water for you and your family for 2 chapters. And a 1 signature tool (ie first-aid kit, water tablets, small toolbox) You can mix and max the levels of these (for example, less food and water for an extra weapon, smaller backpack for extra medicine.)
  • Family: One other adult and however many dependents you think you can handle. Include the other adult's skills and appropriate personal equipment, but you can right a fleshed out character sheet for them if you truly want to.

Max |@MonkeyBusiness@Mcmolly

The monotonous staccato of picks clicking on rock seemed to be the only noise throughout the caverns. Max was still very much angry at Colors' dismissal of his ingenious plan, but as of the moment he was still reeling from shock of seeing the 3 new faces. Two were midge- er... little people (ripped as fuck at that) and the other was some massive tusked brute with jawline that could pulverize stone. The Big One, as Max now ceremoniously named him had moved towards his gigantic... spear-thing? But BeardFace stopped him.

At this point Max would have tried to wallop these fucks, but he was no fool, these guys had more muscle per pound than him and his skinny team and unfortunately thanks to Colors had forfeited the element of surprise. He meet eyes with The Big One, they were both tense and each made clear to keep a wide berth from their respected groups. Max looked over his shoulders to the defacto delegate, Colors, prodding him to follow through with his "negotiation." He hoped this'll go well, Max knew well enough how to handle himself in a fight, as he should, he did it for a living. So, should the situation fall to shit he resigned to at the very least buy some time for his smaller -partners?- to make a break for it before he himself tried to lose the attackers.
Max |@MonkeyBusiness@Mcmolly

Max looked at FunkyColors and smiled and big dumb smile. He cracked his knuckles and rasped his fist on the cave walls in anticipation. Finally a sensible idea, maybe these guys aren't so bad after all, sure they were a bit on the odd side (at least to him). MAYBE they'd make better acquaintances than he thought. He put his ham-like arms around FunkyColors and cood~

"Yeah, I like that idea, get them to come here... yeah... that could work..." He chortled a bit, "And we take one of those kidnapping fucks and wring him for all the info he's worth." Max figured they'd goad one down and give him the good ole' "Brooklyn hello", tie 'em up with...something... and give 'em the 3rd degree. "Great idea Colors! --- soooo~ do you want me to hold em down, or..."

He looked to Pansy in hopes of bringing him into Max's clearly brilliant and flawless plan, "What do you think? A swift bash to the head or a less permanent sleeping hol-" It became quickly apparent that the other two might have had other plans, "What?"
Max |@MonkeyBusiness@Mcmolly

The torrent of water finally washed over them, and Max letting go of the railings wretched a lung-full while on his knees,
"*Cough* -never- *cough* -again- *cough* *cough*" He regain his composure and looked around his eyes still blurry the other two were still kicking. He helped them both up, the two coping in their own way with the sudden bath.

From above he heard the clicking of metal on stone and muffled voices, and noticed a lone ladder. Alarms bells went off in his head, those must have been the assholes that did this to him, his blood started to boil and he would have given anything to just rush up there and give them a piece of his mind. However, logic played a heavy card. There were a lot of voices top side and he and his new "friends" were in varying states of disarray.

"You two done coughing out your lungs?" He didn't wait for a response, "Good, cuz we gots some unpleasant neighbors upstairs."
