The crash he heard through the door shook Robert. Something was in there with Gaia or maybe Gaia was awake. He couldn’t believe that she was actually awake; someone had to be in there with her. His attention turned to the girl that was in his company until just a moment ago. She had to have been involved. She knew that there was someone on the other side of the door. That is why she was so adamant about getting through. That had to be the reason, right? He reached up to the vines that blocked his way and pulled on them. They resisted him at first, but then broke away after he stopped supporting their life. After the door way was clear he pulled the key from his pocket and unlocked the door.

When he entered the room shock took over his face. The place where Gaia normally hung was now empty. Instead the floor just below was covered in the vines and moss that had once been on her. Gaia on the other hand was no where to be seen. He ran to the broken window to if she had really jumped or had just climbed out. It was insane to think that she would jump from the top of the building. No one could survive that fall without some form of equipment to help them. When he looked out the window he was amazed at what he saw.
Gel’Linnea fell through the air to the ground below. She felt alive again finally. The wind was pulling on her hair and she could feel the heat rising to meet her. This planet was alive, unlike the room that she was in earlier. As she fell her hand went to her side to find her pouch. She froze instantly. It wasn’t there. She turned her attention to the ground that was getting closer by the second. How was she going to break her fall now? She scanned the area and found what looked like a tree. She focused all of her energy on the tree that was below her. Reaching out her hand to it, root like growth formed from her arm and hand making their way to the tree. At the same time the tree’s branched moved with loud pops as the branches were not as pliable as they were when it was a sapling. As soon as the root growths touched the tree the tree started to grow larger rapidly. The roots broke free of the cement walk way and the asphalt road that were placed on top.

The people that were on the ground moved out of the way quickly. Some had noticed the girl jump from the window after the chair she had thrown landed on the sidewalk below. Other people around had not notice anything until the tree started to grow abnormally. The tree grew up until it engulfed her and then started to collapse quickly at first and then slower breaking her fall. Finally she rolled off one of the branches and safely landed on the ground.

Her first reaction was amazement. She was amazed that she was able to survive that with no injuries. Luckily for her, her ability to control plants hadn’t faded in her hibernation. Suddenly fear came over her as something bright and loud came was coming at her quickly. Raising her hand the roots of the tree responded and broke through the road stopping the truck. Opening her eyes finally she looked around. There were strange creatures all around her, they were strange, but they looked somewhat like her. They all spoke, or at least she thought they did, to each other in whispers and shouts. The ride of the truck opened and another one of the creatures came out of it. This one wasn’t quiet. Instead it was yelling at her. As it got closer she figured that this was one of the males of this species and he didn’t seem friendly. She backed up to the tree and placed her hands on it. Breathing heavily and somewhat scared she rooted herself to the tree.

Searching through the tree’s veins she found seed pods forming on its branches and other trees whose roots touched. “Frei na namitu!” ”Stay Back!”She wanted the creature in front of her to stand back, but her speaking on seemed to anger him more. Taking a breath she made the tree drop its seeds. The few that fell through the cracks to land on the earth sprouted. The tree’s whose roots reached the tree she was at all started to grow out of control. They ruined the roads with their roots and shook the foundation of some of the buildings. At this point most of the creatures were running from her now. Good. Unrooting herself from the tree she picked up the seeds that hadn’t sprouted. Now was a good time to make a break for it. She looked around trying to find the best means of escape. Having no clue how to get out of this strange environment she just started to run down on of the streets hoping she would find her way out eventually.
It took Vida a moment to process what was happening. Garrett’s words bounced around in her head for a moment before they seemed to hit something solid and stuck to it. “Safe?” She shook her head at that word. The warmth of Garrett’s hands spread through her own letting her know, yet again, that this was real. He was really in front of her, she was really here, and everything that happened was real. “No, no.” She shook her head even more in response. “This cannot be real. No. I have work today. I can’t be here.” She gripped Garrett’s hands looking up at him desperately.

As she looked at him she remembered more of the night before. In the van there had been someone. As she stared at him the images of last night started to compile in her mind until she had them all in place like a puzzle. “You were in the van, but you weren't like the others.” Her heart started to race. He was one of the ones that kidnapped her. Now he wanted to make her believe that it wasn't a kidnapping. “You’re a… a…” monster too. She wanted to say it, but she couldn't. If she was afraid if she voiced those words that she would actually be a monster. Fear gripped her and her body responded.

Her skin started to tingle, it was a familiar feeling. Last night in the van she had felt it. Her skin felt like it was moving. She became even more confused and frightened by the response of her skin. Then she felt something else. A pain spread through her hands where she was touching Garrett. Her body had triggered its defense. The cells on her hands had started to degenerate causing Garrett’s to do so as well. Vida pulled her hands away quickly and took a few steps back. She looked down at her hands. Parts of her hands were blackened as if her skin had died. It hurt to move her hands and when she flexed her fingers the skin cracked like it was dried leaf. It didn’t last long though as she watched her hands start to heal themselves to their natural state.

She heard Garrett’s painful protests as he examined his hands. She looked over to Garrett’s hands to find them in the same state that hers were in, but his weren’t healing like hers. “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to.” She took a few more steps away from him.

Garrett didn’t seem angry with what she had done to him. He actually smiled a little through the pain. “No worries, this.. happens, you know?” He moved his fingers wincing as he did. “I’ll just have Doc fix me up. So there isn’t anythi-“

Without anymore to say she turned and ran from the room. She ran up some stairs and ended up in what looked like a recreational room at a camp. She scanned the area quickly before finding two small rooms in the corner. Quickly she made her way to them and locked herself in one of the rooms. Once she was inside she noticed that the room she was in was actually a small restroom. She looked around for a moment and without many options decided to sit on the toilet to think about what just happened.

Her body had just tried to kill someone. Would she have been able to if she had continued? “No.” She shook her head. She wouldn’t ever kill anyone. Not only that, but it hurt her too. She looked at her hands again. They were fine. Would his hands be fine too? She pulled her feet up onto the toilet too. She rested her head on her knees and ran her hands through her hair on her scalp. There had to be some way to fix herself. She wanted to be normal, not a…

Finally a post! Heh... Now Gel'Linnea will be able to reek havoc on the city!
Hello?
Vida sat with her legs curled to her chest surrounded in darkness. how long had she been here with only that man with a rabbit mask to be her company? He was strange, very strange. She wondered why he didn't take the mask off and why he was interested in hanging around her. He didn't seem to be put off by her mannerisms like others did. In the mist of her thoughts she didn't notice that he was in front of her now squatting to be eye level with her.

"Do you have your answer?" The ears of his mask moved as if they were real in response to his his question.

Vida looked at him then away. "I am not a monster.. monsters are scary and live in dark places." She wasn't a monster. She was sure of it.

"Interesting" He replied the mouth of the mask turning up into a smile. "But aren't you in a dark, scary place now?"

Vida looked back at him. "I am not a MONSTER!"

"Very well.." He stood up and held his hand out to her. "Let go some where with more light then."

She looked up to him hopeful. Someplace with more light.. she wanted to go there. Without a second thought she grabbed his hand.

1:10 PM

Vida stirred in her sleep. She was fighting to wake up, but her eye lids were heavy and hard to open. Finally she was able to open them and look at what was around her. The room was unfocused. Everything was fuzzy. "What.." She whispered not processing anything around her. "Am I still.... asleep?" She said sitting up. As her bare feet touched the floor she felt the cold. "It's cool.. dreams are lukewarm.."

She was still in a haze when the smell of food reached her nose. Her stomach instantly clenched causing a sharp pain to run through her body. She was starving.. she couldn't remember ever being this hungry before. Staggering to her feet she made her way out to where the food was. She looked different from last night when she was first abducted. Her body didn't look healthy like it had and she was thinner. All the healing she had to do the night before had taken its toll on her body. In order to save itself it had broken down the fat and some muscles in her body as a means of energy. She looked like she battle death and barely managed to evade it. She slid her feet along the ground as she walked as if picking them up was to much of an effort.

She shuffled into the kitchen with food and made her way to it. Her stomach growled loudly. Through the dark circles and bags under her eyes the food that was cooked looked amazing. Vida picked up some of the burnt toast and took at small bite before she started to devour the toast like it was the best thing to every be made in the planet. Next was the eggs. She stuffed them in her mouth until she could barely chew. Almost choking on her food she went straight for some bacon. She kept eating until she felt like she was going to throw up from being so full, but at least now she felt alive. The color in her skin gradually started to return and the bags under her eyes receded. She was starting to look healthy again. She even started to feel more energy in her body, like she could walk like a normally person again.

She looked up at the chief with remittances of the food still on her face. "That was good! I mean really good like taco Tuesday on a Monday with all the toppings and peanut butter dip! What is your name? I am Vida! Oh wait.." She stopped talking for a moment.. Now that she was fully awake she remembered what had happened the night before. She had been kidnapped and shot. "Kidnapped.. You kidnapped me. No, no. That isn't good.. but the food was. Wait I have to leave. Where am I?" She looked trying to get her barings straight, but she had never been a place that looked like this before.

She stood up quickly and took a step before stopping. There was no pain in her movements even though she remembered being shot several times. She looked at her hands, they weren't shaking. "How am I alive still? I've been getting over bruises and cuts quickly, but how did I live?" She closed her fingers to make a fist then released looking at her palms again..
