About me as a player.
When I make a character I consider every aspect of the character—and the context of the universe it's in—from its nature and demeanor, to its ambitions and motivations; and quirks, strengths, and weaknesses. Did I need to say all that? No, not really, but I felt like correctly using 'and' five times in a sentence. The reason I give such consideration to these characters is because I come to RP to for the challenge of being someone other than myself. What I would do in a character's situation does not interest me, and it's not the point. Knowing the character as well as I know myself means I can do what the character would do and really feel the weight of those choices.

About me as an author.
I consider all play-by-post games I play in to be a form of interactive, co-authored stories, where in the characters all play a part; and as a consequence all authors play a part. When I engage in collaborations I try to make my character's goals and motivations as clear as possible to the other authors I'm engaging with, and trust they will respect the game and not meta-game that knowledge (particularly: Using out of character knowledge to make in-character decisions). I've observed that this is the most difficult line for other players to walk and I find myself entering into collabs sparingly with anyone I've witnessed not delivering on a pattern of excellence in this regard.

About me as a person.
I have years of experience in LARP, Table-Top, MUDs & MMOs and more. I've been role-playing longer than the average millennial has been alive, and have played just about every kind of character—in every kind of medium—there is. I've also written a bit of fan-fiction (FiMFiction) and original fiction, as well as served as a serious editor for both. I don't mention my experience to brag. It's just a fact. I'm not being modest either since I don't believe in it. Modesty and Arrogance are two sides of the same coin. Understating one's abilities is just as dishonest as overstating them. Doing either is a sign of insecurity, and a deception perpetrated with the intent to garner respect or sympathy. If I'm starting to sound like a super villain, well, there is a reason why.

@VitaVitaARYou found the right thing. MET is the larp for World of Darkness, a thematic overlay set in 'the real world' but can be applied to any world. So, like, a character whose magic relies on a darker, more unkind element of the universe its in (hince the Madoka Magica reference). In WoD any magic that breaks the general consensus of what science and the natural law allows is met with violent supernal backlash.
@Beathanks.
This seems like a silly/fun place to RP. I don't have a magical girl character yet, but I waa wondering if I could make something Mind' Eye Theatre inspired? Disclaimer the only magical girl anime I'm familar with is Madoka Magica. I get thats an outlier in the genre though.
Discord link is expired. Can we get a new invite? I'd like to check out the community before committing to making a character.
@lavulman Okie-Dokie. I realized that since Jumper is traveling alone, and there's nothing impeding his progress, I can put as big of a narrative jump cut in as I want, and so he's there now (but on a mission of his own).
A Sprawling Path
Capitol City: the Bazaar

The earthy scent of the forests, and the decadence of ancient magic was still upon him as Jumper came to rest at the gates of a mighty city. He possessed no flesh, or blood, to draw the hunger of the predators. Further he possessed no coin, and only modest finery, so the same could be said of the highway men who roamed these roads. And so, Jumper's return trip from the place of his birth, to the cradle of this civilization was uneventful. After all, the most dangerous thing to him in all of the forest, and the plains that followed, was the cradle of magic from which his own life sprang.

He had ran to get here. Ran the entire way. He ran with purpose and without exhaustion, through day and night, to the only place he could remember being out in this far flung frontier that was not the town of his grandfather. He followed the roads built by mortal hands and found they were not as he remembered them. The city was not what he remembered. What was supposed to be a modest mercantile settlement had grown to become the massive capitol city of this land, and even as he stood on its edge he could not see its end.

He took a moment to compose himself before allowing the road that carried him here to lead him further in. What was a rocky path through the forests had long since given way to cobble in the planes, had now became masonry in the market streets. On the city's outskirts was a familiar site: a bazaar where merchants and traders whom did not possess property in the commercial districts, nor the permanence of presence to secure such locations, were allowed to conduct business. Here currency was more of a suggestion than a requirement, and it was here in this affluent bartering economy that Jumper would blend in and begin his search.

While the familiar sight was calming, it was not the reason for which he had come, as he had come in search of information. Though information is a valuable resource, and not something he had anything to trade for, it was also free and in the air to someone who could silence themself long enough to listen, and still themselves long enough to watch. He watched the people as they moved through the market. He mingled and listened to their conversations while browsing their goods. He studied them. Immersed himself in their daily concerns while observing their attire and demeanor, determining their class, and likelihood of possessing the information he sought.

There was something specific he was on the hunt for and, as surly as his own tabard's crest still remained, so too did the crests of his targets identify themselves. It was the Order of the Crescent Sun that brought him here, and he had just identified one of its agents. He could see little good coming of approaching them immediately, and decided instead to observe them using his small stature and unassuming presence to mix into the crowds and their routine. To follow them. With luck they would lead him back to their temple or sanctuary and he could finally get some answers. Answers to whom these Crescent Sun were whom so flagrantly co-opted his father's sigil and banner.

A banner under which much war had been waged.
Erryberdy's planets are all exploding and shit and I'm just here like:

I'm not really sure what to do with Jumper other than to have him wander back to town or some city. I mean, I can have him do that, but anyone else have any ideas?
@Liotrent Those are all possibilities, yes. I'm not currently giving much thought to the future of the race, however, since its evolution directly mandates the participation of other players at this point. It's written in such a way that its intelligence is directly derived from the species under its influence, and the ubiquitous nature of humans have given it a baseline (elevated) intelligence.

Typically speaking, when I make characters for a play-by-post setting where anything like PVP might be involved, I make a character that only works if other people don't cheat. While I don't expect people to cheat in this game, the level of other player interaction inherent to the character is part of what draws me to this game. I don't get a lot of thoughtful interaction from intelligent people in my day-to-day life due to some unfortunate circumstances I find myself in.
@Liotrent I was thinking more along the lines of the Zerg and the Borg when I made them. I didn't really play enough halo to get a sense of the flood. I also imagine that, given the setting, it'll be hard for them to go unchecked long enough to get the numbers to fight like any of those inspired source materials. I intend to play them more information warfare style with a gross ambivalence to suffering. Armies are just as often defeated ideologically as they are militarily after all.
