Note on Magic: Any magic you can come up with is acceptable, though ultimately up to my discretion. I'd prefer not using any magic others are using, but won't forbid it. Magic uses the same Tiers as skills, but at Creation all start at Tier 1

Name: Kechaiya
Age: 24
Race: Shurtok
Gender: Female
Place of Birth: Shurtoki Desert
Residence & Affiliation: Shack in Weeping Sands Burrow
Employment: Herbalist/Medic/Poisoncrafter
Appearance: Kechaiya, like all Shurtok, looks human in most aspects. The most obvious way that she is different is her eyes are completely black, an adaptation of her race in the harsh sands of the Shurtoki Desert. She is just over 5' tall, thin, though not unhealthily so, tan skin, and dark hair. She can often be found in simple cotton clothes and boots.
Bio: Kechaiya has a tendency to be quiet due to her broken Common and thick accent. She has a fiery, passionate temper, and often dances around the lines of morality. She has a tendency to stay out of the way, never trying to draw attention to herself. She doesn't make friends easily, preferring the company of her plants. She's an incredibly hard worker at whatever she sets her mind to, though often struggles to focus on anything that resembles traditional or formal education. As such, she cannot read, write, and other skills.
History: Will be revealed In Character
Possessions: Simple shack, with clothes, food, and furniture. Has extra room with good lighting for her plants, as well as a small garden in back with a rickety fence around it.
Magic: Plant Manipulation (Tier 1)
Other Skills:
Poison (Tier 3)

Herbalism (Tier 2)
Gardening (Tier 2)
Cooking (Tier 2)
Daggers (Tier 2)

Wilderness Survival (Tier 1)
Bartering (Tier 1)
Intimidation (Tier 1)
Stealth (Tier 1)
Medicine (Tier 1)

Note on Skills: You can pick any skills you'd like, and denote them Tier 1, 2, or 3 at Creation. This designates how good at that skill your character is. There are 6 Tiers. 1 is Novice/beginner, 2 is Journeyman/competent. 3 is Artisan/professional. 4 is elite/expert. 5 is master. 6 is grandmaster.

You can have 16 points to dish out at creation, but cannot excess Tier 3 at Creation. Skills will level up as they are used as well as when characters achieve certain goals/reach certain plot points.

Slugwood is a massive city in the world of Rogaryn. It stands alone in the center of a mid-sized continent known as Horvallyn, surrounded by the Sluggard Forest on its north and west sides for several tenday rides. It sits on the coast of the Sungrasp Sea on its east, massive body of salt water known for its huge, ship swallowing storms and unpredictable weather. To the south, the forest is lighter, extending into the foothills before breaking into the massive Corigia Mountain chain that splits the entire continent in half into north and south sections.

Slugwood is the only city remaining on the northern half of Horvallyn, a shell of its former glory. It is a massive castle, Skurk Castle, housing nearly a thousand people, wealthy merchants, politicians, and other wealthy individuals living in lavishness within the safety of their stone fortress. Surrounding the castle is the true bulk of the city. A sprawling ghetto, for miles and miles around the city is the true "town" of Slugwood.

Slugwood is split into many haphazard sections, with borders changing constantly as conflicts break out or land is acquired by any means necessary. The biggest districts are controlled by the largest working or criminal groups. The largest of the controlling trio of districts are Boneyard Bay, on the east side on the coast, controlled by the Pirate King and his fleet of ships that plunder other cities and their trade routes as well as the Shipbuilder's Guild. The next largest is the The Mule, a district of various crews of lumberjacks, miners, and craftsmen dealing with those goods. These men and women supply all the goods that the rich within the castle desire, as well as crucial materials for the rest of the town. They also supply Boneyard Bay with weapons, lumber, and tools. The last major district is Madame's Den. It is a district under control by the most influential Madame in the city, and she controls all vices, from prostitution to the farming, manufacture, and sell of all drugs and alcohol. If you need it, her and her Gems can provide it.

There are many smaller, ever-changing boroughs between these three and the castle, each usually controlled by a criminal gang. These territories are always disputed and often leads to much death and chaos within them. And there is merit to controlling these as well, for many of the rich within the walls of Skurk Castle led gangs for long enough to join the upper class wealth. For all it takes is the ability to buy, or take, a piece of land within those walls, and you move miles up in quality of life.

Slugwood used to be one of the most prosperous cities in the entire world, for its location put it right in the path of every trade route. Even at the height of magic, when the world was most rich and comfortable, it stood out. But then the god Beskerret and her followers proceeded to hunt down and sacrifice every magic user in the world. Upon completing their mission, they sacrificed themselves to the Flow, giving their souls to the universe's magic. Gods and magic were dead.

Or so it seemed.

Mages are cropping up once more, and the citizens of Skurk Castle are curious and frightened. Within their leisure, they seek new and exciting things, but also know that mages, or at least legends of them, indicate that they could destroy their home with ease. So many had started putting out bounties for any evidence of real magic. Enough to stir the masses. Enough to give anyone their ticket out of the slums.

There's just one problem.

You're a mage.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So there's your base plot and setting. You will play a mage (magic of your own choosing, soooo many differing kinds, I'm not gonna restrict type, just power levels of whatever you choose.) This is a fantasy setting in a massive world. So massive you can choose any fantasy race you'd like from any medium (books, movies, games, D&D, etc). Slugwood is predominantly humans, but they've seen all types in their time. And like most places, there is plenty of racism and anti-immigration views. But there is room for everyone. I'll be trying a different type of Character Sheet system in the sense that through this story, your characters will grow in strength after reaching certain checkpoints.
Much of the lore will be crafted as a group in order to keep plot fluid and moving. I dont want to make a bunch restrictions, but rather keep things moving. If it has been written IC and I've replied after it, you can assume it to be canon, and I'll be constantly updating Lore here.
All that said, follow site rules, no necessary post order, post CS here for approval. All questions are welcome. I want to keep this as simple but still fun as possible.
Offsite friend suggestion: Move the Captain History section later into the story, to not interfere with introduction.
A solo FF14 based story, please do not reply in the IC section or ask to join. If you have questions, comments, lore discussion etc, by all means, ask away in this OOC section.
