Interested. Primarily, I'd look to play a recurring monster - a unique creature of the darkness a step above its brethren.

I PMed you something.

I don't think generic actions should cost RP. That severely limits the stuff you can do, even if yes, in a real battle you tire. Fancier attacks should cost points, if RP is like MP.

Actually, that's precisely how I want things to work.

Generic actions will have no RP cost, and you can roleplay those "generic" type of events to your hearts content, but there will exist several Combat Actions that can sway the tide of the battle more than a run-of-the-mill "Slash." in addition to affecting the Environment. Using the Cerberus example, keep in mind that not every Action that is available to a human character is available to a quadrupedal, three-headed beast (and vice versa.)

For example, if you're fighting in a wooden area, utilizing a fire spell could create some obstacles between the Enemy NPC and your character. Such an action would cost RP (by using RP, you will gain access to certain perks and benefits throughout the course of the RP, so you are actively encouraged to be versatile in battle. More will be explained when the roleplay begins on this matter.)

And how do you get points for moves?

-There WILL NOT be a posting order in this RP, but generally everyone is expected to post once (1) per Round, otherwise the enemy NPC gets damaged less,
-(RP) will be recovered each Turn (1 Full Cycle of everyone+Enemy NPC's post.) after the Enemy NPC posts.
-Particularly spectacular IC posts can grant you extra RP.
-You can set your character to [Rest] status, which gains you more RP per post. (-----This can be used as a way of "skipping" an IC post, if you have IRL stuff going on, just don't abuse this function since you can be attacked while your character is Resting.)

Could be cool have you tried look at Open wushu?

I looked up Wushu and yes, it's similar to what I want for this RP. I've read several articles like that on roleplaying combat, but I want this to be as simplistic as possible, while still keeping things fair across the board and maintaining that RPG-feel.
If anyone is curious what Jerkchicken and I are discussing: http://danielbayn.com/wushu/
-Just as an FYI, using the example within the quote box, you DO NOT HAVE TO subtract/add RP values inside your post. You do not have to List Stats/Values at all (since calculations will usually be done by 1 person.) If you wish to calculate HP/RP inside your own post, feel free to do so, but you are not required to do so.
-All Attacks in this universe either Hit or Fail, there is no "75% chance to Hit" type of attack in this RP. If you do not roleplay yourself into such a situation where you would be able to counter/avoid/deflect such an attack, you are going to get hit and lose HP.
Sorry for the delay, Christmas-time is insane at work.

I'm curious to see how a combat would work.

To answer your question:

-Each skill/ability/magic will have an RP value (cost.)
-Depending on the GM controlling the monster, a list of certain Actions will be available to you, each with differing RP costs.
-You Spend RP to perform Actions, some of which are Very Effective or Not So Effective against certain enemies at certain times.
-After you spend your points to perform an action, you roleplay that action out in short bursts of battle.
-Your choices in battle will be plenty and frequent, you will have a fair degree of freedom to dictate how a battle goes (as long as you can roleplay it and put it into words.)
-The person controlling the Enemy NPCs only has 1 goal: Kill/incapacitate as much of the team as possible while still not running out of RP.
-1 full 'Round' in-Battle will consists of [1 RPer attacking/defending] & [1 Enemy NPC attacking/defending]

Here's a skeleton of how 1 Round (Player vs Enemy NPC) in a Battle might play out:
>Cerberus bears his tri-jaws at [Player 1] and begins charging with surprising speed, even more so for such a bulky and heavy beast.
>[Player ]'s heavy plate armor and knight-training suggested he >Dodge-Right (-1 RP)

>[Cerberus] countered defiantly with a >Swipe (-1 RP) and his massive right-paw knocks [Player 2] into the stone wall of the chamber. Cerberus begins >Pacing (-1 RP) hungrily towards the limp body beside the earthy wall of the cavern. [Player 1], choked by his own plate armor, lay there breathing, but just barely. Cerberus, still largely intact, bares its immense teeth showing a gaping maw that could easily swallow [Player 1] whole...

>[Player 1]:
-2 HP [13/15 HP]
[STATUS: STUNNED]
[9/10 RP]

As you can see, posts might not necessarily reach a full 3 paragraphs in length, but stat calc happens within the actual IC post.

I have already created 5 monsters/enemy NPCs for our cohort to battle, but an RP that lasts for 5 battles will end really quickly, so I have created a Character Sheet that should remedy this issue:

_CHARACTER_SHEET said

>Name/Alias:
>Age:
>Gender:
>Specialty: (Pick 1) Speed, Strength, Magic, Defense, Curses/Buffs
>Weapon:
>Personality: (5 Traits, I want to see who your character is in the RP, not in the Character Sheet.)
>Appearance: (Optional)

This RP will be written for "Advanced" level RPers, and there will be a storyline, however, the primary focus will be on the Combat. Our characters will be classic High-Fantasy races/classes such as elves, trolls, swordsmen, archers or mages, and control of enemy NPCs can be done by anyone in the RP, not only the GM. I already have a basic "Combat System" written out and created specifically for this RP, and there will obviously be a story, but it will take a backseat to the combat. The monsters we have come to know and love, which we identify within the Epic/High Fantasy genre (such as griffins, direwolves, goblins, orcs, etc. etc.) are present, as well as new, queer and bizarre characters we will encounter, specifically for this RP.

-There will be NO Stats, with the exception of:
-HP (Hit Points) and -RP (Resource Points) (similar to MP/AP in most console/PC games.)
-I am looking for a small group of 2 or 3 other RPers who would be comfortable pushing the story along, as well as frequent, but quick, freeform-combat. I hope that much is clear.
-Anyone else who does not wish to join the RP as a storyline character, but would like to volunteer their time to RP as an [Enemy NPC,] I welcome you to this RP as well. If you have any desire to RP as a ferocious monster, please PM me or reply here.
-Everyone will have the chance to RP as the "enemy NPCs" and craft their own monsters.
-No posting requirements outside of Advanced standards.

Are we in a tomb-raider esque setting? Like the reboot but in a fantasy location?

Tomb Raiding/the Tomb Raider series.

Lara Croft will probably not be in this RP.

Going to put OOC up today.

So what are we talking about here. Bog-standard Tolkien-derived D&D style western fantasy? Something more anime in nature? What's the general power ceiling characters will be allowed? Is a PC swordsman just going to be a guy what swords good or is he going to be performing physics-defying feats on a regular/semi-regular basis?

In terms of the time period, it's less Tolkien/Middle-Earth/Medieval and more Colonial Period with some scattered Sci-Fi and heavy Fantasy thrown in.

Your limits in combat are going to increase as the RP's story unfolds, but an overly-agile swordsman would not be rejected from this RP.
A swordsman will still have access to some magicks, but obviously they won't be as adept/comfortable with wielding magic as a Mage. However, I do not want to stifle your creativity so if you can come up with a Character Sheet that portrays the kind of character you want, and I feel that it can jive with the story, I will gladly accept them.

OOC is going up today!

A rather notorious expedition of rangers, treasure-hunters and exploring has been hired by The Crown to explore and map the New Continent. After several months out at sea, they arrive in a new world, full of magic and might, and are greeted by aggressive, untamed wild beasts. The expedition happens upon the ruins of what seemed to be a great civilization living on the coast, but long-abandoned since. Preliminary surveys of the area have revealed a gargantuan cave opening. Nothing is known about the inside or how deep the cave goes. The explorers and tomb-raiders on board the ship are preparing their backpacks for the climb down into the cave.
