Bio

Hi hi hi there ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. I am Maiden, aka Maiden of a Million Words. I've been a member of RPG since 2010, and before Guildfall I was a notorious long-poster with a post count over 3000. In recent years since I haven't done much roleplaying; I don't trust myself to post consistently for long periods of time. Instead, I've been writing short stories and novellas whenever I feel the urge to make magic with twenty-six letters. Still, fond memories and a sense of nostalgia keep me coming back to the ol' Guild... even if all I do is post a new signature set and have a bit of a read through Advanced.

I'm a middle-aged female currently living in the Southeastern United States. I have a pretty average/boring clerical job. In addition to writing and roleplaying I enjoy hiking, horseback riding, shooting, graphic art and napping. If there's something you'd like to know, feel free to PM me and ask... I'll get back to you eventually.

How awful is it that I just now saw your comment? >_<

Thank you, both for the compliment and for taking a look! I'm really fond of the Walk Away one myself. :)
Well, it's been a really long time since I posted much of anything around here. Time to dust off the thread and watch it rise from the dead lol.

This one was really fun to make, and I like it enough that it will probably come back. Did two avatars for extra practice, one clipped from the sig and one made from scratch. The text on the banner is lyrics from the song "Hear Me Now" by Hollywood Undead.

The new sig set is Genos from One Punch Man. (If you haven't seen that anime yet, it's time.) Song quoted is "I Am Machine" by Three Days Grace. When it gets retired I'll post it here, but until then... see below. XD
Post is up. Not the best thing I've ever written, I'm not feeling so hot today, but it will serve the purpose. (That'll do, pig. Lulz.) I didn't want to wait any longer.

I wanted to post a little bit about Kai and Lina in the computer room, but I need to run some of their research by xodus first. (X, I'll PM you here in a little bit, I gotta take a break from RPG to do some IRL stuff but I'll be back.) I will possibly/probably edit my post once that's done.
---xX--Xx---

I woke when the light hit me right in the temple,
Felt something cold touch my toes as it passed.
Might not be the face you’d expect,
But he’s clearly insane, got me pegged in the back.

---xX--Xx---

“Is that all? I suppose I can help you with that, but you may be a little queasy in the end.”

Before Lina could pull her head away from Angel, his index finger connected with the spot on her forehead where many religions said the third eye rests. It was as if the Lost Number had turned a key in the lock her brain had become, and in the blink of an eye everything came flooding back. Marcelina’s combat experience was returned to her completely. She didn’t feel queasy at all: in fact, there was a distinct sense of peace and closure once the memories had returned. Gadrael had utilized forbidden arts… no wonder they’d all been defeated.

“Thank you,” the woman said to Angel, on a sigh of relief. “That’s actually much better.”

But before Angel could respond to Lina, he was struck in the face with a fist-sized pink blob. It had been launched by Seira, who crowed triumphantly from the doorway. And then all hell broke loose.

The psycho thirteen year-old was back. She must have been standing just outside the door listening to everything like the fruitcake she was. Of course she was furious that the ‘trash’ had struck her partner. She proceeded to attack the entire group, calling in a judgment protocol on all of them.

This was not like facing down Gadrael. Kai felt no fear at this little girl’s display of power. As he floated upwards -along with his chair, and the table, and everything else in the room- he caught Lina’s green gaze.

You know this is all part of their act, right?

Of course, Lina replied in her head. We don’t seem to be afraid of, or impressed by, them at all… I called her partner on acting like a dumbass… they had to do something.

All this power, Kai couldn’t help marveling at the Chrono’s talent, and she uses it over a silly food fight. Imagine what she could have done to Gadrael if she had just been there!

It’s a shame, isn’t it? Lina thought back. What a waste!

As Kai was floating in mid-air, a small pink blob with an odd shape floated past his chest. As Angel tried to calm his rampaging partner, Kai reached out and clasped the thing gingerly between his right forefinger and thumb. It spoke to him immediately: this was a gadget covered in goo. He pocketed the unknown device right about the time Reri was distracted by the cell phone charm and gravity restored itself to normal.

Angel started speaking then, and Dos Pistolas paid close attention to his words again. It was another long tirade, but this one much more informative and much less taunting. Kai and Lina watched and listened with expressions on their faces that mixed boredom and incredulity.

---xX--Xx---

Eyes huge, so little left if something:
Cracks and clues, he’s crazy as a straw!
Why denied, does no one care or nothing?
How, you ask, I ever last so long.

---xX--Xx---

How much of that do you think is true? Kai asked his partner telepathically. She was always better at seeing through people than he was, at guessing the truth from their lies.

I’d believe the part about us being suspected traitors. Judging by the sound of this CODE, it’s something you might have been able to crack. That alone could have put us on the list. I believe the part about the near-death experience and the scan: that totally sounds like something the A.M.R.O. would do to us.

True, Kai agreed.

It also makes me wonder if these two were supposed to have a near-death experience as well. Because if they haven’t had one… then they haven’t been scanned. And there’s only one reason they’d avoid it, really.

Kai’s amber eyes widened a little, flickered over to where Angel and Reri were standing, then back to Lina.

The part about the A.M.R.O. wanting us dead, about us belonging to the Chrono… that shit I don’t buy for a second. If we were supposed to die, they would have just left us out there in the desert to do it on our own, kept their hands clean. Like Crazy Straw said, there’s a lot of paperwork involved, more if the A.M.R.O. does the deed themselves instead of a KIA.

The male Asylum nodded, and waited expectantly.

If they are the traitors, Lina continued, of course they’ll want us to be as loyal to them as possible, so they want us to think that they’ve risked their necks to keep us alive. Perhaps they’re hoping it will make us less likely to question them and their motives in the future.

As far as us proving our worth as Asylums… well, we do that on every mission we complete, and we were going to do that again on this mission, anyway. So whatever these lunatics want our motivations to be, the result is the same. We need to handle the Kings and the Circus as quickly and quietly as possible, and do our best to look out for information leaks along the way.

Agreed. So I guess we have work to do, Kai replied.

By now there was a gun on the table, and Angel was dramatically demanding they choose death or the Lunatic Team.

“So pick your poison, i Gemellie de Demone… Or A.M.R.O and its Laws, in which case you can just unclip this magazine down your throats.”

Kai and Lina did not have a choice to make. They were creatures of the A.M.R.O.: always had been, always would be. Dos Pistolas had been raised by the Organization, indoctrinated with its principles and laws since before they could remember. It was their Mother and Father, their past, their present, and their future. They could never be anything but loyal to it, and they knew that the Organization did not appreciate or condone ritual suicide. Furthermore, Dos Pistolas could not be entirely sure that the agents of the A.M.R.O. asking this sacrifice or surrender from them were completely loyal to the Organization themselves.

So it was with a very noncommittal attitude that Kai rose from his seat and offered a hand to Lina, helping her to her feet as well. Distantly, he noted that she’d chosen her black skirt today, coupled with a form-fitting v-neck tee shirt the same color green as her eyes. It was emblazoned with the word POW! on a very 50’s style comic book star of red. She smiled at him a little as she grasped his hand and drew herself up. It had been a long time since Lina had actually taken his offered digits - the past few months, she’d been brushing off the gesture.

“Oh and Siera, that hearing aid was actually a 180 thousand dollar worth bio-cybernetic and its will be coming out of your salary. You and your partner will probably be dirt poor for the next few months.” Angel said, almost as an afterthought.

So that’s what I have in my pocket, Kai thought to himself. Luckily for the other team, the male member of Dos Pistolas was easily capable of restoring it to new condition with a series of simple casts. Kai’s sly smirk was sexier than Angel’s, without a doubt, and doubly sharp. Joke’s on that bozo: nobody’s taking a paycheck deduction today!

Despite Lina’s tirade, she’d suddenly gone quiet. Kai assumed that she’d reached the same conclusion he had: doing further verbal battle with a madman was pointless. Neither member of Dos Pistolas wanted to push the Gemellie into doing something violent in order to silence the pointed, well-founded questions they wanted to ask. Finally accepting that he’d have to be the one to speak for his team, Kai cleared his throat a little.

“Well, looks like Marcelina and I have some work to do. If you’ll excuse us, we’ll be in the computer lab. Anyone who wants to brainstorm is welcome to join us… and if there’s an actual briefing, please give us a shout.” Kai tapped on his temple as he said this, indicating that the ‘shout’ should be telepathic.

With that, the pair headed for the exit. It hadn’t been lost on Kai that between the other teams they had a deaf man, a blind man, and a mute man. Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. He wondered if that was some kind of sign or something.

Seira was still near the door when Lina and Kai passed. It hadn’t escaped his notice that she’d been sneaking glances at him before Angel’s arrival in the dining room.

“Catch up with me later. I have something for you,” the big, tattooed male Asylum said to the raven-haired female. He winked at her, and kept walking.

---xX--Xx---

He’s regretting every word; those empty lies,
One more tonight!
A blinding riot, as I summon every nerve.

Just need a bit of luck, get 'em up,
Point the gun at the eyes
Or at the knees, had to shoot, had to fight!
Gonna take out the gunman!

Oh, yes, I live! >:D

I know what I want to post, it's finished in my head... but it's not all typed out yet. LoL. I should have it up sometime tomorrow.
Sorry Kiddo. Standard Asylum operating procedure is a one-way dimensional portal. You sort of get disassembled I think, and it's not something that you'd want to undergo while awake. You get drugged to sleep on your homeworld, and wake up in your room at Osmond's. It's intentionally disorienting. There's a second portal in Orrace, that's how Buck arrived, and he chose to be sedated during his travel as well. It's exceptionally painful... and sleeping patients do struggle less. ;)

@ Pum: Yeah, I think that will get things moving along a little bit. Also: always fun. ^_^

Posted a short one for Cadence. If anyone is interested in interacting with Buck, he's available... otherwise, he'll be doing nurse stuff... somewhere. XD Tigre and I are still (sort of?) working on a collab I think. *cough*
» Cadence «

“I don’t think you can help me,” the woman replied. “They… gave me something… made me sick.”

Cadie nodded at the other female. With her bandaged left eye and her bones practically showing through her skin, the Mutant was not exactly a poster child for good patient care. Sometimes they gave her hallucinogens when she went into ‘therapy’, just to make the giant TV screen seem a little more intense. She could certainly sympathize with drugs made to hurt instead of help. And the red-eyed woman was also correct in that there wasn’t much Cadence could do about it.

Right about then, the mutant waif realized that the other patient’s fingernails were turning into claws and digging into the table. This was clearly someone of sizeable strength, and though the she seemed to be struggling to keep calm her breaths were ragged. The expression on her face was pained, and almost angry.

Something else Cadence could sympathize with… especially when she thought of her impending stomach implant.

“Wait; there is something you can do for me. Could you get me a drink?” the white-haired female asked.

The Mutant nodded, hoping it wouldn’t be too complicated a task. When the other girl raised her hand, her nails left splintery divots in the plywood and laminate that composed the table. She gestured to the carnivore steam line. Then she took several deep breaths, as if steadying herself.

“Those silver coloured bags there. Can you see them? If you could bring me two.”

It took a few seconds for Cadie to finally locate the silver bags her fellow patient was referring to. She wasn’t very familiar with that side of the food line; although the Mutant ate a vast amount, her menu was relatively tame. For a moment, she wished Jax was there: he would have been happy to do the leg work. But he was in therapy downstairs, and Cadence was up here on her own… with someone who needed help.

Briefly, and on an almost subconscious level, Cadie did a calculation in her head. Thin as she was, her body still weighed at least eighty pounds and it was about twenty-five feet from her table to the steam line. So to get up and go get the bags she’d have to move eighty pounds fifty feet. Or she could just use her powers and move five pounds twenty five feet.

The answer was obvious.

It had been a long time since the Mutant had willingly used her telekinesis. Though it had almost been like a cherished pet of hers during childhood, it had grown into a savage beast. The Institute had collared it, put a finite ceiling on how much damage it could do… but sometimes the waif still cringed when she opened the door to the cage.

Yet for all the times it struck without her command, it had never disobeyed her when given a specific order. It was still like feeling her own willpower solidify -in this case, around two of those silver bags- and follow her focus up into the air. She drew them across the room effortlessly, two willing little pets that docilely floated past the head of another patient who was staring blankly into his soup. Setting things down gently was always the hardest part: the impulse is to just let go but if you do it that way items crash and bounce. The trick Cadie had learned was to select a spot on the table where you wanted to put it, and then distinctly put it down before letting go. Just like you’d do with your actual hand.

So the two silver bags settled themselves down smoothly just in front of the white-haired woman.

One of the added perks of not physically getting up to fetch the bags was that Cadie didn’t have to stop eating. She’d actually torn a large bite from the sub while using her ‘invisible hand’ to get the other patient’s lunch. She chewed and swallowed as the things landed, glancing sideways and giving the other woman a small… even slightly shy… smile. Because this was generally the part where people freaked out.

“There you go,” the Mutant said in her usual, soft voice. She licked her lips, and then took a sip of her raspberry fizz.
I'll live. I'm kind of a BAMF. XD

I wanted to get some reading and writing done last night, but the guild crashed for a while and I fell asleep. Honestly I had Twisted stuff to do and now it's late. I'll start mah post tomorrow. Sorry it's taking so long!
Glad to see you guys both made it over! I don't know about everyone else, but RPG crashed on me literally right after I made that OOC post and went to jump over to the IC. It didn't come back up for a couple hours... and honestly I got bored and fell asleep.

So, fingers crossed that things go better tonight. Aint nobody got time for technical issues. :)

Edit: Okay, it occurs to me that I should be giving the new players some direction right about now. Fortunately for you two, the IC isn't very long yet, and I would suggest you read it all now if you haven't already. Basically, your characters need a tour as well. (At the end of this post is a brief IC description of the rooms that the patients are shown after they are finished with breakfast.)

Right now, it is lunchtime in the RP and you guys need to catch up from 7 AM till Noon. Basically, your characters are waking up in Osmond's for the first time. They were sedated on their homeworlds and have no memory of how they were transported to the Institute. They are greeted by an NPC Sibling Nurse (more info about those in the Plot Disclosures post), most likely given some sort of medication (what it is and how it affects them is up to you, or I can create a med for you if you so choose), and then are shown down to the Cafeteria for breakfast. For continuity's sake, we'll simply say each of your characters was the only PC in the room during their meal. You can show as much or as little detail as you like. Complete the tour with your NPC and then have them arrive in the cafeteria for lunch with Cadie and Simone.

This part is for everyone. Since the RP has been lagging a bit lately, we're going to go ahead and wrap up day one ASAP. Once everyone has had a chance to interact and get acquainted a little at lunch, We're going to do a small timeskip to the end of the day, after dinner. Patients will go to bed and we'll proceed directly to Group Therapy on day two. Pumirya knows what I'm talking about, Elsa might but I can't remember if we ran one while she was with us on the first Twisted. For the rest of you, more details will become available as they are necessary. ;)

Also, I am going to be a bit freer with the post requirements since the Guild has been rather wonky. I tried to read and write last night and couldn't get the Guild to load for me. (The Facebook group and DownForEveryoneOrJustMe both said it was offline.) It's done this to me several times in the past couple weeks. I would strongly suggest that everyone back up at least their Character Sheets and most recent posts; either to Google Docs or to your hard drive. Once bitten, twice shy.

@ Pumirya: Your post was lovely, Cadie and I can totally work with that. It'll give me a chance to show something off. >:D
Thanks Pum! I'm about to go read your post lol!

We should have three new players joining us here shortly: nonsequitur, Ethan and Kiddo. Welcome welcome! They're going to be added to the Patient Roster once they make their first OOC posts.
