Mya chuckled at Ana's response. And laughed harder as her train of thought derailed. She was so unpredictable. Mya loved it. She let the heat of the fire warm her. She wasn't really cold but we liked the way the fire felt.

She saw the camp master make his way down the path and nudged Ana with her elbow. "showtime" she whispered, pointing in his direction.

She listened to his speech which was nearly identical to last year's but she remained attentive. He finally made the offer for anyone to speak and since she didn't feel like adding to the cheesiness of the scene she stayed silent. It wasn't that she didn't support the camp because she really enjoyed it. Just speaking in front of people wasn't her favorite. So she decided to let someone else step up to the plate.
As Mya continued to scan the crowd she saw someone waving. Was it... she looked closer. Yes it was Ana. Mya quickly made her way over and took the seat next to Ana. "Good thing you brought your bag or I wouldn't have anywhere to sit."

Mya was glad Ana had found a space so close to the fire. While it wouldn't really get cold this time of year, she still liked the extra warmth. "this campfire thing will be as cheesy as any movie. If not worse. Just so you're prepared." Mya laughed dryly. She looked at the people around her again seeing some familiar faces but only a few she could name. Not exactly friends though. She did see some counselors she recognized.
Mya had wandered around and found a nice sunny rock. She'd accidently fallen asleep and when she woke it was getting dark. She scrambled up to check the time and hurry toward the fire ring. When she finally made it out to the location it looked like most everyone was there. There weren't many open seats and it was hard to see Ana in the dark and through all the people. So Mya just kind of milled along the edge of the woods, not far from the nearest group of people. She leaned against a tree and continued to survey the crowd for a good place to sit. She didn't want to wander around in front of people and look like an idiot.
Mya's smile faded ever so slightly at Skylar's response. "Oh well good then. I'm available if you have any questions." Mya's ever polite demeanor won out even though she didn't particularly feel like offering this newcomer any help.

Clearing her throat, Mya stood from the bed. "I'm gonna go look around a bit." She gestured toward the door over her shoulder. "You know in case anyone does need some help." Mya couldn't keep the sarcasm out of her voice and as she turned to leave she said "I'll see you at the fire tonight."

Closing the door behind her Mya walked out into the warm day. She'd explore a little. Maybe find some new hideouts. So she headed up the path that led around to the other side of the lake.
Mya put a smile back on her face as Ana introduced her. She waved to the girl she now knew to be Skylar. "First year? I don't recognize you. But then again a lot of people attending this camp." She said across the space.

She was impressed that Skylar had apologized for her tone. Most people have a hard time admitting when they're wrong. 2 points for her. Mya thought as she held her place on the bed.
Mya laughed. "I think gravity and I are on good terms" She sat on Ana's bunk and watched with curiosity as Ana approached another individual.

This girl didn't look like the type you'd really just intrude upon. And was that an eye roll? Mya pursed her lips as her eyebrows drew together. She waited to to see how this would play out. The first thing out of the girls mouth had Mya's eyebrows shooting up and her lips pulling down into a frown. No need to be rude. she thought. She didn't know Ana well enough to interfere and was curious to see how she'd handle this. A piece of the puzzle that was this shy? Disinterested?-Mya didn't know yet- girl was about to fall into place.
Hey @Animera. It looks like @DrowsyPangolin is addressing your character.
"I mean I'm a pretty big athlete. So I'm good at other things. But coloring is about the extent of my artistic ability." Mya was waving her hands slightly. She always seemed to talk with her hands. Even if it wasn't a passionate conversation. "You're right about the brushes though. Very unreliable. Those paint by number things they always give kids...hate'em."

She nodded at Ana's choice of cabin with a smile and headed there excitedly. As she opened the cabin's door she answered Ana's question. "up to 12 but we only had 9 in here last year." Mya looked around at a few other girls who had chosen this cabin as well. She gave a small wave so as not to appear rude. Some were unpacking. Others were catching up with old friends. Some bunks just had bags. Mya did a quick calculation, including Ana and herself their were about 7 girls already. She spotted an empty set of bunk beds next to a window. "score!" She grinned over her shoulder at Ana as she hightailed it to the beds. She slung her duffel on the top bunk and asked. "Wanna be my bunk mate?"
Mya traveled down the path, appreciating the beauty of the camp. "That's cool. It's really pretty here, you'll have lots to draw. I, myself, don't have any artistic talent. Mya chuckled. She trudged down the path seriously considering dragging her duffel. Maybe next year she'd bring a suitcase with wheels. Mya had plans of claiming the same cabin she had last year. It had the best view of the sunrise. She was an early riser, but simultaneously a night owl. A bit of a conundrum.

As the cabins came into view, Mya spread out her hands like she was Vanna White. " Welcome to paradise." She said over enthusiastically. It was followed by a chuckle. "Well maybe not paradise but it's not so bad. These are the cabins, obviously. You can choose any one you'd like as long as it isn't full. I, personally like the one on the end there." she pointed toward cabin #5. "Great view of the sunrise." She was giving Ana an out in case she didn't want to bunk with her but Mya found her intriguing. The way she always sounded half asleep-almost bored- had Mya curious as to who lurked under the shy exterior.
Mya followed the girl's-Ana's-eyes to her sketchbook. The bird was amazing. "that's amazing." she said pointing to the drawing. "We don't have to go anywhere but if you want a decent bunk you better come with me" Mya motioned for the girl to follow as she shifted her bag to the other side. It was getting heavy.

"So did you take lessons or self taught" She segued into a conversation for the walk as she headed toward the cabins just assuming Ana would follow.
