Sorry, I'm working all day today but I'll definitely look over your character sheet tomorrow (Friday)! And to answer your question; the name category is whatever you want it to be, I added an annotation to the character template in case anyone else had the same concern.
Alright all you pretty peeps, the OOC is up here. Thanks for being patient! I may do some minor editing at a later date but this should at least help with the initial character creation. If anyone has any questions, feel free to post it in the OOC or send me a PM!

  • I'm looking for between 3-8 players for this role play.
  • Post characters here in the OOC or send me a PM. They must be accepted by me before they can be posted in the Characters tab.
  • I expect at least one post every six days. If we don't get any kind of notice that you can't post in that time then you will be dropped. Prolonged absences are fine as long as I get some kind of warning. I'm very flexible however, if you can't post every six days just tell me! I simply don't want everyone to be held up because we're waiting on one post.
  • I don't reserve spots, this isn't first-come-first-serve and I'll accept a character based on quality.
  • I'm always happy to help answer questions or assist with character creation, so just shoot me a PM!

2077; excessive violence and murder is on the rise, enough to cause a mass panic. The news reports are frequent and school children are escorted to and from school by soldiers and police to ensure their safety—there is a strong sense of foreboding in the city. People are paranoid and have lost family members and loved ones already. There are no answers, just speculation as no culprits have been caught. Conspiracies, distrust, fear; the city was pushed to its breaking point until all went silent. The news feeds went dead and the cities power cut. People changed into monsters, revealing themselves as demons in the guise of humans, soon to rampage the city and killing all its human inhabitants. Those that survived, whether they knew it or not, were the same breed of monster that ruined the city. The strongest of these demons rose up and reshaped the city with their immeasurable power, turning everything into chaos; indistinguishable from the metropolis it once was. The city has become an island surrounded by deadly poisonous waters, impenetrable and impossible to leave, there are no means of communication to the outside world.

2079; It has been roughly a year and a half since the incident and the city has been divided into 13 wards controlled by the most powerful demons. There are few settlements but no order, living in the city is living in total anarchy where everyone makes their own rules and only those strong enough can enforce them. The people who once thought they were human have long since realized their survival was no coincidence. That they are to, in fact, a demon in human form (at the time having yet to awaken to their true form) and the demons who orchestrated the cities invasion had never intended to kill their own kind from the beginning. For what little good it did because people are more inclined to kill one another with their new found power with blatant disregard to kinsmanship. However, there is a rumor that some semblance of the Old World still exists in the upper wards and a small group of individuals set out together to find it. But the city is warped and dangerous and those that couldn't control their demon forms roam the wards as mindless killing abominations.

Neutral City; Once a massive and diverse metropolis bursting with people. Since the humans eradication it has become a ruinous place with little to no order.

Island 13; During the invasion/incident, the strongest of the demons used their power to alter the very foundation of Neutral City turning it into an isolated island surrounded by poisonous waters and decaying ruins. Divided into 13 wards (and the free wards) ruled by the most powerful demons, it was aptly renamed Island 13. While the ruling demons of wards 13-4 are mostly equal in ability, those that rule over wards 1-3 are near insurmountable in their sheer power, so much to the point that reality becomes intangible and is bent to their will in their respective wards. Rumors speak of a place in the inner wards where remnants of the Old World still exist and some have made a goal of trying to find it.

The Wards; There are 13 Wards on the island that are ruled/controlled by powerful demons. While everything is almost total anarchy, there are few settlements where some semblance of order exists. Having been altered by the wills of their ruling demon, each ward’s terrain is extremely different from one another and completely indistinguishable from the city is was built upon. While the ruling demons have a habit of abusing their power, they keep their wards safe from feral/dangerous demons who were cast into the "free wards" where no demons control. The free wards are incredibly dangerous, the demons who roam there are powerful and uncontrollable. The 3 most inner wards are mostly avoided by the island's residence because the demons who rule have the ability to change reality on a whim which means all forms of chaos that most wouldn’t be able to handle.

The Demon World(?) Nomag; Very very little is known about the world from which the demons originally reside but what is known about it is that it is now uninhabitable. Supposedly a harsh place that was easily changed and melded by the most powerful of the demons. Comparatively, Earth is a much more stable location where the demons powers have considerably less (though still immense) control.

The protagonists of this story are demons who can freely change between their demon (true) and human form and are, in essence, trying to find a remnant of the Old World in post-apocalyptia. The protagonists have been around since before the city was destroyed/changed but their character isn't limited to a person who only thought they were human. They could have known what they were and were simply pretending to be human, they could have thought they were humans with some kind of exceptional/strange talent, been totally oblivious to their origins (even having gone so far as the have been raised by humans), etc.. As for the origins of these demons, they came from another world that humans had ruined (which will be revealed in-game) and in retaliation, the strongest of these demons raised an army and took over the humans world but as far as some people are concerned it was only the city.

There are three major characteristics that all demons have in common;

  • All of them can sense other demons, some better than others and some can hide their presence entirely. By extension, they can also tell the difference between demons and non-demons.
  • All of them are shapeshifters to an extent, their human form is irrelevant but their demon form will always be the same. Some can't change their human form however.
  • As a result, some demons replaced human infants as sleeper agents for the inevitable invasion but there are those that had never awoken to their true origin. No matter how you look at it though, the body they inhabit isn't their original form. That said, they had a life prior to coming to the human world although some were simply drones without a mind.

The characters can change into their demon form at will but have the ability to utilize their powers in their human form but at a weaker level when compared to being fully transformed. However, the more they use their powers the more they lose their human side but the more powerful they become. So the tradeoff is power or their human emotions/memories. With that, the enemies that the protagonists fight while traveling won't be pushovers since a large majority of them (at least for the start of the story) are people who lost their minds to their power/reverted into their original state which means they'll actually be stronger than the average human/demon. I'm hoping to create a real sense of urgency and struggle when fighting.

As for their abilities/powers, they're not limited to a particular skill set like say, a superhero roleplay where the characters generally only have one ability. However, their powers will have to correspond with their demon form and I probably won't allow a character who can do everything under the sun and then some. In layman's terms; there are few to no limitations when it comes to powers, just make sure you balance your strengths and weaknesses. I'm always happy to help and answer questions as well!

Very nice. Glad to see people interested! I'll start writing up an OOC but it probably won't be up until tomorrow since I have tomorrow off (from work that is).
The staring wasn’t an abnormal happenstance—the townspeople gave her uneasy looks and children pointed, confused by her presence. Despite her discomfort, Grun didn’t falter, she walked gracefully and unaffected on the surface with every bit of experience she had in the past as a clergywoman of particular acclaim. Of course the townsfolk wouldn’t know that, she was only relatively recognized among her own kind and even then, her reputation had been dragged through the mud several times over at the church’s hand making the few interactions she had with her vagabond kinsman a tense one. Not only was she Divined but she didn’t hide herself behind cloth and robes or slip through the shadows as expected from her kind and it was this that must have made her look all the more foreign in the small settlement.

Under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t have ventured into such a small village. Although the people less confrontational in general when compared to the city, and envoys of the church more scarce, small settlements such as these didn’t tend to provide her with much help or information. People were more inclined to ignore her or spread dishonesty she had learned. Whenever she entered a village like this one, rumors were quick to spread—her presence was a disruptive one. And it was on that, she was here for; a rumor. Supposedly, some Divined had taken up residence nearby in a small group and she needed evidence. However unlikely, if there were other wandering Divined close by then she wanted to know. Their numbers as a species were trifling and the lack of unity didn’t help much in that regard. She was looking to unite her people and convince them to stand as one.

She had little to no success so far.

She needed to find someone who could, who would be willing to, aid her in her endeavor. Whether that present itself in useful information or someone simply willing to talk to her in the first place even if they had nothing of significance to say.

More importantly however were the group of five following behind her at a safe distance. They had been stalking after Grun since she entered the village and while unassuming in their appearances, there was an edge in the way they focused on her like she didn’t know they were there. Most likely, a fight was inevitable. She didn’t care for combat, preferring words over fighting but not from lack of ability. However fighting wasn’t an option this time, Divined were already stigmatized, Magi even more so, fighting in a public place where passersby’s gave her cold stares and fearful glances wouldn’t help the reputation of either. Best case scenario they’d lose interest once they realized she meant no harm. Worst case scenario they would confront her themselves. Apparently luck wasn’t on her side when they suddenly split into two groups and followed her on both sides at an uncomfortable distance.

The tallest one spoke up, “So tell us, what’s someone like you doing here?” there was an idle threat in the way he spoke that made Grun stop in her tracks. Making eye contact with the man who spoke to her and despite meaning no ill-will (quite the contrary), the man flinched under her gaze, “I have heard rumor that other Divined have passed through this settlement, perhaps you could tell me the truth or falsehood of these rumors,” when the thugs faces twisted into fear and then anger, Grun realized a little too late that they took her enquiring as a threat. Presumably believing her words to mean she had every intention of bringing her kind to the village to cause harm. They didn’t attack immediately, instead the tallest one narrowing his eyes at her, “What’s the supposed to mean?” the atmosphere had turned tense and the townsfolk in the immediate vicinity were quick to clear out.

She sometimes regretted her conviction to not hide herself, it had a habit of causing more problems then solving them.

Loosely inspired by Shin Megami Tensei, the story revolves around a small group of protagonists who have the ability to change between a demon/human form and are, in essence, trying to find a sanctuary in post-apocalyptia. The characters have been around since before the city was destroyed/changed but their character isn't limited to a person who only thought they were human. I'm hoping to find at least four dedicated people but more is welcome. I have a lot more I want to say about this roleplay but I don't want to waste time writing everything up if no one is interested. I also tried to explain everything in the simplest terms but I have a habit or not saying enough so if anyone has any questions feel free to ask! I'm always happy to answer!
Whoops, sorry! I kind of spaced this roleplay out but I'm here now. I'll probably have a post up before the end of today (relative to where you live anyways).
So...Should I post my character in the characters tab...?

PS. Sorry for not replying sooner, I was busy yesterday.
Oh gosh...

EDIT: It is done, Captain.
