Bio

I'm almost 100% certain I was once a member here at RPG but times come and go and this site is newer than it could possibly be if I'd been on it before, so it's likely deja vu or something similar.

Anyway, I like sci-fi, political exposition, vampires, and extroverted characters. I don't believe in happy endings, I'm a bit of a chauvinist, and I think cookie-cutter emo characters are the most dull contrivances in fiction. Bubbly, happy characters annoy me but if you'll let me do horrible things to twist and change them, I can forgive you for writing them that way originally.

I'm more of a weekend player than a daily writer, my life and job are stressful but they pay the bills so I can't complain too much. Some days I might write a small novel, other days less so. I'm very much about quality over quantity, but if you aren't adding to a scene then gtfo. Three lines isn't a post, it's a text message.

Judgmental asshole here, and I'm sure there are some people out there that will avoid me because of it. Good. I'm picky, pretentious and impatient. They say God looks after children and fools - which is good for Him but I have better things to do.

Love,
V.

I'd be interested in playing a librarian/archivist for the Novak family. Young and academically-gifted, with a heavy dose of sarcastic disdain for those that choose faith over logic. She aids the senior archivist, fetching items and generally assisting since his eyesight is failing - she has a deep distrust of visitors wanting to touch things in the archives personally. She's not a combatant herself, but is something of a fan-girl when it comes to Resistance fighters.

Let me know if there's room for a character along those lines.
I'm very intrigued and have a pretty good idea to contribute. However, before I commit, what exactly are you looking for? Are you looking for someone to write as the female only or the female and the crew? Are you also making a character or are you just controlling the world?

I'll be controlling the story-effects of the world, making whatever NPCs are needed, be they allies, antagonists, or flavor NPCs (non-player characters), and controlling the vNPCs (virtual non-player characters - the unnamed, unwashed overly-opinionated masses).

So for examples:
* You could write spotting land and heading in that direction. I would decide whether it was actually a deserted island to explore or a pirate's haven that mounts a full-out attack.
* You could write a crew member sparking up a mutiny, and some other crew member agreeing with them, and getting the revolution underway. But ultimately, it would be my decision whether the rest of the crew goes along with it, based on how convincing/persuasive your plan is.

And so on. Basically I'm looking for a collaborative story but with my guiding hand moving us through plot points and story arcs.
Bump, still looking for partners here. Upper-casual to advanced RP style. Ability and willingness to participate in the story in not just a reactionary role.
The year is 2073, and the world is in the midst of a Great Changing. After the systematic nuclear bombing of 142 coastal cities, civilization was all but destroyed. A decade was spent pointing fingers, but no single culprit was ever discerned, nor did any nation or terrorist group ever step forward to lay claim to the single worst tragedy of human history.

Time heals all wounds however, and the Earth is a resilient thing. Though much of the land was rendered uninhabitable, the oceans were the first to begin to heal. Near the shores of the deadly, radioactive continents, the water is able to eat the flesh from a man's bones. But out on the deeper ocean currents, human life has made a way.

Oceania, the new nation. Nation is far too grand of a name for it however, as it is more of a colony. Seafaring vessels, from aircraft carriers all the way down to the smallest of dinghies - what is left of humanity lives and works and survives on-board the 272 crafts. Fishing vessels procure food, military ships provide security from sea bandits, and those wealthy enough to own boats of their own make their trade exploring the sea, venturing onto land seeking fame and further fortune.

Rumors of what lurks on the land limit these adventurers to a relatively small handful of the Oceania community. Radiation has caused mutations in both the flora and fauna, with tales of dire beasts and men more monster than human any longer. Many adventurers leave the hub of Oceania, never to be heard from again, while still others return with wood, metal, and plant specimens, among other treasures, so crucial to the continued survival of the human race.

------------------------------------------------------

Your character is the daughter of a famous explorer, known from one end of the colony to the next as the man who single-handedly saved Oceania 27 years ago by venturing into the eastern wilds of what was once North America in search of a means to end the raging spread of Typhoid fever among the colony. Not only did he return with the vaccine for the World Health Organization, or what was left of them, to synthesize enough to save Oceania, he also led what remained of the US navy to the colony, bringing an end to years at the mercy of vicious raiders.

He's retired onto a cruise liner now, reliving his glory days for those wanting to bask in his reflected glory, and he's left you, his only child, the ship that made him famous. He's also left you a legacy: A map that leads to a rumored 'promised land', un-ravaged by nuclear explosions. His three attempts at locating the legendary land all proved fruitless, each time turned back by tragedy or disaster, the last one costing him the life of his First Mate - your mother.

He's left you a destiny and a means to an end, so the question now is, what will you do? Will you raise a crew and set sail for danger and adventure? Or will your crew take up a life of piracy, preying on the very colony that shaped and sheltered you? The choice is yours.

Interested parties should post or PM a brief outline of female character:
1. Name
2. Age (16 - 21)
3. A brief description
4. A brief personality outline.
Closed.
Bump. What's a little amnesia between friends?
Alright, I'll hold onto it for now then.
Interested - what do you have in mind for a CS?
There's a quiet hum of machinery so constant it's like a dull ache in your bones, felt more than heard. You wake from a fitful sleep, but you aren't in a bed, and that pain in your neck isn't from a lumpy pillow, it's from a pair of tubes down your throat. A beeping begins, slow and steady at first, but then faster, more insistent. You feel certain there's something you're meant to do, but for the moment, you're trapped in this upright, cylindrical coffin, the glass in front of you beginning to fog up with the breaths you've only just begun to take. It's instinctual, this breathing, spurred on no doubt by the breathing tube retracting from your throat, scratching your esophagus along the way. The feeding tube comes next, and the beeping gets more insistent. What were you supposed to do? And who are you? Where are you? Why can't you remember anything?

And so begins Cryo: Awakening. I'm looking for a female partner for this one, a story of amnesia in an unfamiliar setting. It could go many ways, I'm leaning toward horror but it could as easily go the Epic Adventure route. It'd be interesting to see this one grow beyond a 1x1 and eventually be transplanted into a group setting with this 1x1 serving as the petri dish for the 'Amnesia in Space' idea.

This interest check is NOT first-come, first-serve. I'd like to see a decent paragraph describing a female protagonist for this story if you're interested in playing her. Nothing under the age of sixteen, nothing supernatural, nothing remotely anime - no exceptions. I'm looking for a more adventurous kind of girl on this one, the wilting flowers can stay home. Let me know her personality, age, and a couple lines describing her looks, nothing too complicated is necessary.

Bonus points if you describe her reaction to waking up in the cryo chamber.

I have no plans at this time of doing this particular story in more than one thread, so apologies in advance but I'll only be choosing one. Respond here or send a PM, either is fine.
