Hey Twilight, is this okay?: after the interaction between Riley and Mara, we decided that there's probably grounds for a good support conversation there. In the interest of time, can we "pause" our current conversation going on right now in IC and say that our characters leave to rejoin the others? At some point in the next day or two, we can then take our time to collaborate on titanpad so we can come up with the complete conversation.
True, s'pose it definitely makes planning supports more relevant. If you're going to take the time to do them, it'd be nice to know who you're shipped with, etc. etc.

I was held up most of the day and I picked it back up just fine.

Yeah, I was just surprised everyone decided to do shipping stuff...
Her job complete, Mara bowed her head slightly and responded to Wyeth's comment. "A leader shouldn't be determined by popular vote. I'll follow whoever is most effective at saving lives." With that, she gave a cursory nod to her companions and went on her way to the temple.

While Mara was no longer in the services of the temple as an acolyte, she still retained a small residence within the building. She had quite a few keepsakes, and it would be impossible to travel with them. From time to time, she would return to sort out affairs, restock, and go through her things. Today was no different, and Mara spent a good half hour looking through some of her father's things. She did not dare spend much longer than this for fear of stirring up old memories. Mara settled whatever expenses were owed to the temple out of her meager holdings, and returned back to the main vestibule.

Mara went to work restocking her satchel with healing supplies and having her staff appraised for repairs. Thankfully the temple was well equipped for this sort of thing, as they saw plenty of healers each day. What Mara wasn't expecting, though, was company. Actually, she was quite pleased to see a familiar face here (well, outside of the clergy she knew). Looking up from her satchel, Mara smiled briefly at Riley. Truth be told, Mara was not all that familiar with Riley, as the cleric spent most of her time with the sick and the wounded. Mara tried the best to hide her surprise when she spoke. "Oh, I didn't think I'd see another Sacred Blade here..." she looked away, "Oh, help? No, no I'm fine."

Mara was silent for a few moments, but rather than pushing Riley away, she decided to look back and continue. "Actually, Riley, I was wondering... What are your thoughts on the Sacred Blades?" Mara traced her fingers along her gnarled healing staff, "I haven't been with them for that long, and I guess I just want to know if we're really making a difference. I've seen so many die in just the last month. Will it always be like this?" Mara had no idea why she decided to seek console with a fellow Sacred Blade, but perhaps now was as good a time as ever.
Oh dear, I went away for a night and I missed all of this? o_o;
We could go SHOPPING! Wee! Yes, you can tag along. Mara would be quite happy to have company.

I'll probably be away for the rest of tonight, so I won't be able to respond 'til tomorrow. If that bothers you, you can have Riley meet up with Mara later on after a post or two.
It's okay Daemyn, don't be so hard on yourself. It happens to all of us.
Haha, yes, Stranger, I think Verin is very much a useless meat sack at this point. Although, I'm not quite sure what to do with him right now. If anyone has some suggestions / uses for him, I'm all ears (I basically designed him to follow blindly, so yeah).
Mara tensed a little upon hearing Riley's words. Of course Riley was right. After all, one of a healer's primary duties is to, well, heal. Mara respected Riley for being frank; too many people would sugarcoat things when talking to a cleric, and that was the last thing that Mara wanted to happen. Bowing her head, she replied. "I assure you, it will not happen again. It was a momentary lapse in judgment." In a wry tone, she added, "our leader will live yet."

Upon turning back to Wyeth, she let her eyes settle on his face for a brief moment before looking away. "A little pain may do you good. Perhaps it'll make you more serious next time. We could all... we could all do to be a little more serious about these matters. There is always the possibility that our next battle could be our last." Mara didn't mean to be a buzzkill. She just had a problem treating serious matters lightly without feeling pangs of regret because, just maybe, being serious could help save more lives.

With her eyes closed, she extended her staff and waved it over Wyeth's wounded arm. Being a cleric, Mara had conditioned herself to act as a channel for healing energy. The act was often physically draining to her, but perhaps this was in part due to her inexperience. Thankfully, Wyeth's injuries were not severe enough to warrant any real strain on Mara's part. Wyeth would feel a gentle warmth wash over his body as the healing magic did its work.

Upon finishing, Mara leaned against her staff and gave a gentle sigh of exhaustion. "If you need me, I'll be at the temple." This was a chance for prayer and quiet contemplation. On second thought, Mara wanted nothing of that: being left alone to her own devices was always a recipe for disaster. Instead, the cleric resigned herself to simply restocking her supplies and running errands for the duration of her stay here.
Great job, Overwatch! Oh, and EclipseDragon, and I think Mara and Riley will get along just fine; Mara respects people who speak their minds and don't sugarcoat things, even if it would hurt Mara's feelings, haha.
