The year; 2037. The setting; Earth. The introduction of the holopads had a bigger impact on society than anyone would’ve even guessed or that anyone even acknowledges to this day, taking the commercials and media coverage as an annoying norm. Like anything in our culture though, they started to shape how people thought, how they react, and what they felt pressured to buy, slowly ushering the United States into a more futuristic, sci-fi environment. Architecture took on a more sleek, angled approach, while roads and highways were lifted from the scum and dirt of the homeless. The military started to invest is robotics and cybernetics, while people got eye implants to relieve their blindness, buying small robot dogs for pets instead of the faithful companion we had kept at our side for decades.
The world as we knew it started to become more fantastical. The iPad turned into the iScreen, a small portable holopad that was harder to break due to the light technology it used for it’s screen, touchscreens becoming commonplace in restaurants, saloons, repair shops, and furniture stores. Those who couldn’t keep up with the times fell back into poverty, littering downtown's with the jobless and forgotten, crime that was left unchecked due to either apathy or under-manning.
Society is filled with mystery once more and no one knows what comes next. Who will you be?
Hello fellow writers! I'm posting this in hopes someone will be able to join and stay with me on this unique adventure exploring a very alternate take on the DC Universe - so much so that you really don't even need to have any knowledge about it. It's more about using familiar city names and creating our own world around them than anything, such a Empire City, Gotham, or Metropolis.
The basic premises of this story is that my character will have run across something even more fantastical than usual - the ability to acquire superpowers. Using her new found powers, she has turned vigilante for yet unknown reasons and has been forcing the crime rates in Empire City to go down. While she has her own goals and story to follow, anyone that wants to join can literally make a character from anything. She could be a librarian that is obsessed with comic book heroes and chases after the vigilante, or maybe a scientist that has a thirst for knowledge, wondering where these powers come from. Maybe a cop that's been framed for murder and now needs the vigilante's aid or even another rare individual that has somehow acquired superpowers. For simplicity's sake, while your character could be from another city such as Gotham, we'll have them start in Empire City regardless. Also I'd like to avoid any higher powers, such as senators or anything Federal-related really. If going down the superheroine path, think more along the lines of lower-tier superpowers ... so no Supergirl-likes or anything.
Edit: Also from a romantic point of view, my girl will be a confident introvert and more of a submissive-type partner. So having a character that is fine making the first step and willing to take lead in romance is definitely a plus. On that note, I want it to build naturally, so my vigilante may not respond to flirting right away, especially since they're strangers and she gets some stalkers as it is with her fame growing.
If there is anything I've forgotten, please let me know! It's been a while since I posted a 1x1 interest. ^.^
