Just cause I didn't say they're in this world doesn't mean they aren't in it. :)

Though I imagined them being foes we would fight. The Orc tribes are very disjointed, however, so if you wanted to play one from a tribe trying to "redeem" themselves or something, that'd be cool.

EDIT: Oh, and I answered Max's question in a pm, but for everyone else, yes, necromancy-like magic exists.

Skills: Ulgahk is extremely proficient in many different forms of weaponry, having spent years honing his skills in the mountains, isolated from nearly all human contact. That being said, Ulgahk usually prefers larger, more destructive weapons such as hammers, maces, axes or even his own fists when dealing with foes other than simple game. Being raised in a mining tribe of Orcs, he is also skilled in ore refinement and metalworking, able to make his own armors and weaponry out of such things. He is an excellent hunter, once killing a bear and then taking its face to use as the face of his shield. Because of all the time he spends hunting, he has had much time to refine his culinary skills as well, and is actually an astonishingly good cook.

Profession: Hunter - Ulgahk spends his days hunting out in the mountains or meditating in his small home.None of this has brought him any real profit, but it does occupy his time nicely enough.

Religion: Regnism – Ulgahk is part of a small sect of devout worshippers of the God Regna, who followers believe created the world from darkness, known as the Void. They also believed that one day, the Void would return to the land, and Regna would take them all in everlasting night. Then they would all be at peace. When the Worldbane came, many of the Regnists praised it, believing it to be proof of their faith. Yet, as the years passed, the Regnists were left stranded. With their Second Coming fulfilled, the Regnists knew not what to believe in anymore, and many abandoned the faith. Ulgahk is one of the few remaining Regnists, and has a firm belief that one day, the Void will take him, and he will be at peace. Regnists are firm believers in honor by combat, and death in battle is one of their most revered ways to pass from this world. Those who are more attuned to Regnism are those with a darker mindset, those who look for and find the evil in things. Many Regnists cannot stand the sun, and will hide as much of themselves as they can in clothing to combat it.

Regnism in Practice: Worshippers of Regna believe assigning one place to worship their god is disgusting and nonsensical, as Regna created the world, and therefore anywhere is a temple where one can worship Regna. Traditional ceremonies are usually held outside by a roaring bonfire, where the worshippers will meditate in silence. However, if no fire is available to them, Regnists will kneel and pray to the west, away from the rising sun. Regnists do not hate non-believers, but treat them as foolish children who have lost their way. The Regnist will be there to guide them back from the deceit of light.

Regna: Regna himself has often been depicted as a shadowed, six armed humanoid creature, with a crown of fangs and bestial tusks atop his head. It is said that each Hand of Regna created a different part of the world now known today: The water, the fire, the earth, the wind, the darkness, and life itself. Regna has never been depicted as anything more than shadow, as Regnists say that if light were to touch Regna, life would cease to exist. Despite his dark nature, Regnists insist that Regna was a benevolent god, and that all he wishes is for his children to be with him. It was the non-believers, in their need to be superior, that brought forth the sun and the light, and drove Regna away.

Equipment: His thick battle armor, fur cloak, his large, bear head shield Maw and steel mace Lifetaker. Ulgahk also carries a small assortment of trapping gear for hunting and cooking.

Personality: Ulgahk is a pugnacious Orc, believing battle to be the best way to solve problems or settle differences. Yet, at the same time he is very spiritual, believing all roads lead to the Void which he yearns for. He holds no pity for cowards, and will kill at a moment’s notice. Yet, he is also more patient and kinder to those younger than himself, as Ulgahk believes himself to be a good teacher, even if his lessons are crude and brutal at best. He always remembers to pray to Regna every day at the exact same time, just after breakfast, and holds this in extreme priority. Because of the Worldsbane, Ulgahk believes his faith to be proven, and that all other religions are nonsense. He cares for people, but never seems to outwardly display positive emotion, though whether this is due to his religion or his personality is anyone’s guess. Though his faith seems to ring true, Ulgahk faces an inner crisis, In these later years, he has begun to wonder what his life means, now that Regna seems to have returned to this world.

Backstory: Ulgahk was once part of a proud village of Orcs, whose tribes populated the mountainside. Yet, because of the Orc belief of Regnism, many people initially came to blame the Worldsbane on the Orcs, and much of Ulgahk’s people were slaughtered, including his own mother and father. It is said that when the Elven people laid siege to Ulgahk’s village and slaughtered his family, it was Ulgahk alone, through sheer tenacity and force of will that he was able to fend off the invaders. By the end of the siege, Ulgahk was the only one left alive, thus giving him the name “The Lonely Blade”.

Additional Info: The Mugdul Tribe
Ulgahk’s tribe was a quiet, spiritual one. They only acted in ways they believed Regna would deem acceptable, and only crafted weapons and armor for defense, never for offense. While not particularly scholarly, the Mugdul all did learn how to read, if only for the Scriptures of Regna. The Mugdul hold the beasts they hunt in high regard, and are sure to use every part of their prey once it has been slaughtered. As they lived in the mountains, the Mugdul had an affinity for mining, and became very skilled at refining ore and metals. However, since the Worldbane, Ulgahk is the last of the known Mugdul tribe.

Name: Garth, Mason, and Ferdinand Mortugal

Age: Garth is 178, Mason is 175, and Ferdinand is 173.

Gender: All three of them are male.

Nickname: Those who have laid their eyes on the brothers have always been too frightened to try and understand their true nature. Thus, as word has spread of them across some areas of the Weeping World, they have earned brands the likes of monster, abomination, stalker, beast, and other such hurtful namesakes.

Race: They were once humans. They would like to consider such still, but they would only be lying to themselves. Now they are one single, undead monstrosity.

Skills: The Mortugal brothers each have their own strengths and, when combined, serve them quite well in many situations. Garth has always been the agile type, and with his own legs strengthened with his brothers’, is now very much full of stamina and capable of carrying the trio across vast distances, as well as jumping great heights and scaling ruins. As well, he has a knack for stealth and an eye for detail, so he knows how to remain undetected from crowds when the brothers are in danger.

Mason, being the strong and relatively silent type, possesses all the brute strength of the trio. He controls one enormous, lumbering arm, and supports the brothers’ combined weight with his other, which is lodged inside their collective spine. He helps Garth climb towers and cliff sides as Ferdinand’s arms are too weak to do so. While someone would mistake him for a giant idiot, he’s actually quite intelligent and full of wisdom. He just doesn’t put it to much use.

Ferdinand, the youngest, is the charismatic one of the trio. In his past life, in the World Before, he was the most outgoing, and had a clever way with words, and has retained such even in his current form. He can read people explicitly well, and knows how to handle many hostile situations, trades, barters, and deals. Of course, his skill isn’t put to so much use nowadays, but when the brothers manage to sneak their way into a village disguised as a half-giant, finicky merchants become no issue with Ferdinand’s choice of words. He also has some experience in cooking, always willing to cook up the trio’s breakfast if he has the right ingredients and utensils.

Profession: The Mortugal brothers wander from place to place, devoid of any sense of duty. However, they try to help random folks when they can, until they’re driven away once their true visage has been revealed unintentionally.

Religion: The brothers used to be immensely loyal to Cynid, Goddess of life and death, praying to her every night for assistance in their horrendous lives, or maybe even undo their father’s work that turned them into the monster they are in the first place. But she never answered them. Garth and Ferdinand have long stopped praying to Cynid, focusing on their worldly matters instead. Mason, however, still firmly believes in her, and silently asks for her blessing every night while the other two sleep. Still, though, he never hears back from her.

Equipment: The brothers don’t carry much with them, save whatever food they’ve collected and the tattered garbs, beads, and ropes wrapped around their bodies. Mason handles all their conflicts directly with his brute strength.

Personality: They are one body with three minds. Garth is soft-spoken and polite, though not very direct with people when he really needs to be. Ferdinand is the opposite, being very talkative when he actually manages to strike up a conversation with someone not horrified by the trio. He, too, is well-mannered and kind. Mason rarely speaks, but when he does, it’s often to pass on wisdom, warning, or gratitude. He mostly lets the other two handle direct conversations.

Backstory: In the time of the World Before, there was man named Artemis Mortugal, who had a wife named Elise. They lived in a village together, happy, and unfazed by the woes of the world. In truth, not much can be said about the two, for their sons no longer remember them as fondly as they once did. What they do remember, however, is that their mother was always ill. Ever since Garth was born, she was sickly and withering. Mason came, and she was bedridden. Ferdinand came, and she was dead moments after. When she was gone, Artemis cared for his three sons, raised them into three unique young men, and promised he would never let them go. That promise, however, couldn’t be kept. Garth started to feel sick first, and years later so did Mason and Ferdinand. They inherited their mother’s illness, but that wasn’t what killed them.

It was the Worldbane.

They don’t remember how it happened, only that it left them as nothing but piles of bones and charred flesh. Artemis, his mind snapped by the swift loss of all three of his sons, turned to the only hope he could think of. Cynid, Goddess of Life and Death. He ignored any sense of training. He disobeyed the rules. Naked, he carried the sacks of his sons’ remains into the Chasm she reigned over, and took part in a corrupt form of Archetonement that had never been conducted before. Artemis himself was the Focus. He sacrificed himself so that his sons may live again. And, by some ungodly chance, they did. But not as men. They awoke together in that Chasm, fused into one hulking being. Garth carried his two brothers on his back, and they bore their three arms without his own. Their flesh was dark and mangled, their faces contorted and horrifying to behold. They stumbled out of that Chasm and fled from the destruction and chaos the Worldbane had wrought on Amaroth. They fashioned garbs and masks for themselves when the storms had cleared and the world began to settle. They hid away from the masses who deemed them a single monster, and wandered the desecrated lands by their lonesome. They prayed to Cynid, the Goddess they thought responsible for their horrid form, to undo their suffering and forgive their father’s brashness. But she never granted them anything but silence.

They still traverse the Weeping World, surviving, hoping they may one day be able to cure themselves of their physical ailment, or maybe even have the residents of the cities and villages the world over no longer call them an abomination, belonging with the nightmarish beasts the Worldbane left behind.

I'm probably going to edit this some in the future. And I'm currently working on an artistic representation of the brothers to add at a later date. But for now I just wanted to have something available for viewing.

This looks like it could be a lot of fun. Below is my proposed character. My goal was to create the kind of character you find yourself trusting when everything tells you that you shouldn't, while providing an element of fun still maintaining the dark atmosphere. While his affectations might make him seem invulnerable, he is quite mortal, and he knows it.

Name: Davte Rilal (abandoned)

Age: 350

Nickname: Davanteaux

Race: High Elf

Skills: As an experienced bard, Davanteaux has mastered a variety of musical instruments in a multitude of genres. While the first century of his life was devoted to traditional anthems and dances of the High Elves, Davanteaux's profane lyrics and atonal compositions drew great controversy in traditional Elven culture. Since that period of his life, he has learned the styles and tropes found in many lands among all known races. In his life of traveling, Davanteaux is practiced in the art of tact and making himself difficult to find. Within the last fifty years, Davanteaux has familiarized himself with the culinary arts. His breakfasts are well-loved.

Profession: Bard; Wanderer

Religion: As a worshipper of Icthus, Davanteaux considers his profession as a bard to be a life-long religious pilgrimage. The exact reasoning behind this decision is ambiguous.

Equipment: Davanteaux travels light and unarmored, adorned in clothes just slightly more fashionable than practical. His tunic and fine silk pants remain clean and untattered in spite of his lifestyle. In the medium-sized pack slung over his shoulder, he keeps all items necessary for his survival. In the pouches on the outside of the pack, he keeps nine different spices in small containers collected from his travels. In the main compartment, spare clothing and bedding are meticulously organized with his musical instruments so that all items are easily accessible at any given moment. The instruments he keeps provide him with the largest diversity in sound, being a lute and bow, a drum with sticks, and a metal horn with a sliding action and clicking valves. Among his vestment is hidden a small dagger, which he shows freely when using it as a kitchen knife while cooking.

Personality: Davanteaux's general manner could lead to the interpretation that he is insane. Cordial and warm, he is very welcoming to all regardless of their reaction to him. While most are put at ease by this introduction, his endless praise of the new world and celebration of all elements thereof is highly upsetting to most listeners. At first he is merely tolerated, but his aggressive friendliness, artistic and culinary skill, and familiarity with social obligations allow him to maneuver himself in almost any group. After a seemingly arbitrary period of time, he will suddenly disappear, only to arrive in another place to start his process over again. In very rare moments, it is possible for the skilled to see a flash of bitter fury come across his face, which instantly dissolves into his usual laughing smile, leaving a doubt that it ever happened.

Backstory: Davte Rilal was born into a musician's caste, resigning himself to entertain nobility in a mundane and static environment. While he did exactly what was expected of him, he received a standard and satisfactory fare and the affections of a few uninteresting courtiers. His only solace was in the time he spent in the libraries, where the old knowledge was kept. Eventually, after discovering the doctrines and philosophy of Icthus, Davte isolated himself from society for weeks. Reemerging as Davanteaux, his new habits (although enticing to some) were far too scandalous for the conservative court. Widely considered to have lost his mind, he was ostracized and nearly censured. Before an arrest could be made, Davanteaux disappeared.

After abandoning High Elven society at the age of 100, Davanteaux spent the next 100 years learning the ways of as many cultures as possible. In this time, in played in many noble courts and in front of peasantry. His crafted lyrics were inoffensive and specifically appealing to the crowd for which he played. A constant theme in his music of this period was the promise of a greater future, and the rebirth of the ingenuity of all races.

At the time of Worldbane, he found himself entertaining a Human King. As the kingdom was invaded, his knights slaughtered, and his towns burned, Davanteaux played an overture. The kingdom had been eliminated within a week, but his was not among the corpses. In the remaining days of chaos, he was seen amidst several armies leading their musicians in ushering forces to battle. He shouted noble words of duty and honor as the soldiers marched directly to their deaths. Once again, his was not among the corpses. These activities would become legends passed around by the scant survivors, and forgotten over the decades.

For the next 150 years, Davanteaux's activities began to seem erratic and inconsistent as he traveled among the settlements. His name and deeds of this period are most often preserved in conversations in the public houses over ale.

Additional Info: Although hardly famous, Davanteaux has a reputation as an almost mythical character in multiple regions. He is known to restore virility, convince entire villages to worship death, save children from starving using grass, cuckold nobleman, pacify rebels, and kidnap the unmarried. Of course, his general tendencies and enigmatic nature lend themselves to gross embellishment.

Looks good to me, save for one small thing: he is 350, and the Worldbane descended only 150 years ago. Could you detail where he was and how he survived it? Other than that, the character looks great.
