Kyle looked up in suprise, "well I can't go back to the pack I'll be on the run for the rest of my life since I can't cross the river with you." He looked back down at the ground watching his boots, as they kept moving. He took a deep breath then let it out slowly, but he didn't know for sure that he could keep running from his father. Sooner or later he knew they would catch up to him.

"I can carry you across Kyle, please." There was some desperation in her voice, it was shaky as if she was about to cry. Em turned around and rested her head on his chest, she was holding back her desire to put her arms around him and cry. "I care about you Kyle, I need you." She kept on looking down at the ground, her eyes were starting to water, he'd probably laugh if he saw her face.

Kyle put his arms around her, "the boat was made to carry one person, and only hold the weight of one person." He closed his eyes, he didn't know what to do. His head told him to step back, but his heart wouldn't let him move.

Em didn't want to cry, but her vision was getting fuzzy. "You should go, you have more chance on surviving alone than I do. I'll die either way." The grimness in her voice pushed her heart into a deep black hole, but she knew that he would survive alone but she wouldn't. She was so used to him by now, she wouldn't be able to sleep.

Kyle sighs, takes a step back and grabs her shoulders his eyes lock with hers "I cant do that Em I care about you, if I did I wouldn't be able to live with myself," there was regret in his voice, if he did he wouldn't be able to live with himself he cared about Em. No matter how hard his mind was trying to tell him otherwise.

Her lips couldn't speak, she searched his eyes for some kind of answer to her dilemma. Tears were rolling down her cheeks, she pulled him and cried on his chest. Her hands gripped his jacket as she stopped sobbing. She didn't pull away, she wanted to stay there.

Kyle put his arms around her, he didn't say a word he didn't know what to say. He didn't step back, he stayed where he was he knew Em would need some time so he gave that time to her. Kyle knew with each passing minute his father was getting closer, but he didn't move from where he was. He heard thunder go across the sky and soon after heard lightning crack across the sky, it soon started raining still Kyle didn't move away from her.

"We should go," Em parted from him with the thunder, she pulled up the hoodie from her jacket and kept walking on. She stared at the ground and rubbed her red eyes as she walked, her mood was a sour as the weather. She was used to the weather,back at camp she would usually be forced to work in this weather until she caught a cold or faked one. As she sighed she noticed her warm breath vaporized outside, it was going to be really cold tonight.

His boots got muddy, but Kyle didn't really care. He pulled up the hood of his jacket, and put his hands in his pockets he walked behind her. Looking at the ground, He could see his own breath after a few hours passed. He was getting cold, and fast the rain didn't help at all. They would have to find a cave or something to get out of this weather, he was used to the weather, and they cold, but usually it didn't drop this much. His teeth quietly chattered against each other because of the cold, the rain kept pouring down on them, if it wasn't this cold he would enjoy it.

Em could hear Kyle's teeth chatter, and she looked back at him with an encouraging smile. Soon the found a small cave, the mouth was a bit moist but the inside was dry. "I'll get sticks for a fire," she went out and grabbed some sticks. Placing them like a miniature bonfire in the throat of the cave, she circled it with some stones and looked in side her pockets for some paper. She started to lose hope when she felt something in her jean's left pocket, it was a picture of her family. Sucking in some air she placed on top and used a lighter to burn it's edge. Pulling back she clenched her teeth and reached for the photo, but she just burned her hand.

Slowly his teeth stopped, when Kyle saw her burn her hand. He ripped off a piece of his shirt, he stuck it out in the rain getting it wet. Kyle gently took her burned hand in his, he wrapped the wet piece of cloth around her hand. He tied it off, Kyle zipped up his jacket, slowly he was starting to get the feeling back into his hands. He remembered his father, a slight shiver went through him when his dad came into his mind. He also remembered some of the pack, that was nice to him, but would still give him the punishments when his father told them to.

"Thanks," Em whispered softly as she felt the cold touch of the cloth spread throughout her burned hand. She couldn't retrieve the picture, but it was alright as the warmth of the kindled fire was starting to increase. Slowly, she would edge closer to Kyle and rested her head on his shoulder. "Aren't werewolves supposed to always be warm?" She teased, her smile was feebly returning to her face.

Kyle laughs a bit, "no not really were still half human half wolf, wolves get cold too yah know," some of the warmth was returning to his body. Lightning cracked across the sky, he remembered when he was afraid of thunder storms, but that was when he was with a pup. Water still dripped from Kyle's hair, but he didn't really mind it. He was just glad to not be taking any orders from anyone, anymore it felt like he was trapped in a cage when he took orders from his dad.

"Then you probably also have a lot of chest hair, but you're not able to grow a manly beard yet," Em poked his side as she laughed, she wasn't sleepy yet and to go off in silence would have been depressing ,she was feeling much better now. She strained her soft pink hair, it had needed a little TLC so the water was quite welcome. But just to annoy him she shook his wet hair in his face,"is that how you dogs do it?" Her laugh bounced around the cave once more, heartily this time.

Kyle laughed, when she ruffled his hair. "Not a lot of us do it, but I only do it when my fathers around just to annoy him," as soon as Kyle says something about his dad he clamps his mouth shut. He lets out a sigh, and closes his eyes no matter how hard he tries to not think about his dad and what he did to him the more times he catches himself thinking about him.

Kyle shook his head, told her about the time when he was a pup when he stepped out of line he would get beaten. He told her about all the times he was having second thoughts, about staying in the pack. He told her everything that had happened to him, he wasn't much of a person sharing what he had experienced with anyone else. He usually kept it to himself, not hinting that he had a really hard life.

Em's jaw fell, she was going to have nightmares tonight. She sat quietly for a while and looked at the ground,"Do you want a hug?" She opened her arms for a cuddly panda hug, she had never had much friends so this was quite new to her, but she had hugged her parents from time to time. Her lips formed a smile, something to cheer up the mood after those long minutes of sad talk. She was quite proud that she had listened through all of it, it was so terrible that it had wretched her heart.,

Kyle got close to her, his shoulders shaking as he recalled those moments. That's why he wore the jacket in the first place, it hid all the scars the pack had given him, he swallowed as the memories went to the back of his mind again. He really didn't have anybody he could trust to talk to, but now he did.

Em awkwardly hugged him, his jacket was quite big and it made the hug quite hard. She unzipped his jacket and dissimulated that she didn 't notice the scars, she unzippe her own so he could notice the whip scars on her back. she then hugged him,it was a little cold.
