As for tips, I would check the Off Topic: Roleplaying Discussion board. Otherwise, throw your idea into an Interest Check under whatever manner of RP you'd like (Free, Casual, Advanced, Arena, World, or 1x1) and see how it goes. It's always in your best interests to get out there, poke a few live stories, and find something that suits you.

Oh and, do you know how to bold and italicize? I've forgotten.

It's fairly easy. There is a cheat sheet just below the text box in which you enter your post. It's called the QQCode Cheatsheet right down there, below us. :) Under headings "Embolden" and "Italicize".. Can't miss'm!
