Momentarily, Granyl stopped and stared into the stream. He noticed his own reflection, silently looking at the smile he had. Looking up and noticing Midnight looking back at him, he quickly spoke up. "Heh, sorry. I'm coming." He said, making his way across the bridge in a timely manner, as he was still a little skeptical of it's size even if it proved to be sturdy the night before.

She smiled softly and shook her head, "It's alright. You were think about things, huh?" She followed him across the bridge and continued walking. There seemed to be a small dirt path that lead from the stream into the trees. Midnight followed it, "Oh, I forgot about this. This will also lead the way out. Once I found a way to get out of the forest from here I figured I should probably mark some kind of path just in case I ever forget for whatever reason.." She trotted along it, glancing back every so often to make sure.

"... A few things, yes." Granyl answered, stepping off the bridge and letting Midnight take the lead again. The dirt path Midnight showed him was something he could appreciate; if he ended up wanting to visit, he'd just have to find it. Which, after he found the end of it as they traveled out, probably wouldn't be that difficult. "It was a smart move to make a path here." He followed the path, noticing her occasionally looking back. He simply kept his smile, amused by it, but appreciating her concern.

Midnight smiled and faced forward again as they came out of the forest. She slowed her trot to a stop to wait for him to now take the lead, suddenly feeling more anxious about going into town.

As they exited the forest, Granyl looked up at the sky. It was mostly sunny, a few clouds here and there. The weather was nice, too. It would appear the day would be nice and warm. Perfect for being out and about. He looked towards Midnight, noticing she had stopped. He hadn't expected her to be absolutely comfortable, so this was to be expected. "Though it's a small town, I haven't had the chance to get to know the place too well. Anywhere in particular you consider interesting?"

Midnight looked at him and thought for a moment, "Well, we could go to Sweet Apple Acres, Sugarcube Corner, there's a spa, a bowling alley, there are also a few cafe's and a diner."
She shrugged a little and then remembered, "Oh yeah, I may have to go see Mayor Mare later today so if there's anything you want to do while I do that, you're welcome to." she smiled lightly.

Blinking, Granyl took a moment to process everything she said, then noted the business she said she had with a mare later on. Not putting too much thought into that, as it wasn't his business, he responded. "Sweet Apple Acres? That wouldn't happen to be that farm up the road, would it?" He asked curiously, as the name fit the place. He recalled seeing quite a few apple trees down that way. It'd certainly make sense. He thought about some of the other places that were mentioned, and didn't exactly care for the spa idea. Imagining a stallion in a spa was just... Strange. Didn't seem right to him.

She nodded, "Yep, that's the one. It's a rather big farm, it's hard to miss. Would you like to go there first?"

Granyl considered it for a moment, then shook his head. "It's still early. Probably should let the sun rise some more before going out there. Wouldn't want to be an early-morning nuisance." He turned, looking towards the town itself. "Might be for the best to just wander a little. Ponies are probably still getting ready for the day, some places might not even be open yet." He thought to himself for a moment, before a chuckle escaped him. "Heh. Wandering around usually leads me to something interesting, anyways. Might be for the best until the day gets going."

Midnight nodded, realizing the time of morning as well, "That's a good idea. A little wandering wouldn't hurt anypony." She suddenly got a shy look on her face, "I..I'll follow you, though, if you don't mind."

"Not a problem." Granyl replied, trotting up to her and gesturing forward with a hoof. He'd rather her beside him than somewhere behind. "Kind of excited to see what this town is all about, let's get going."

She smiled and nodded, glad she could walk next to him instead of behind. She tucked her wings under her cape and waited until he started walking so she could walk beside him to and around Ponyville.

Beginning to trot along, the town itself was just a short trip away from the forest. Within a few minutes they were already passing a few of the outer buildings. A few ponies were already out, heading to different destinations for work, or just to keep their plans in check. A few colts and fillies were traveling to the school as well; though Granyl had no knowledge of it. He just figured the younger ponies liked to rise early. "Surprisingly active in the morning. Of course, I shouldn't be surprised, considering what I've heard. Ponies say this town tends to be a very eventful place at times."

Midnights ears moved back a little as she watched some of the other ponies move too and fro. She nodded, "It can be. It can get rather crazy at times but that's the kind of place this town is."

Granyl smirked. "Good to know the stories are true." He was glad he was going to be able to stay for awhile, he'd probably get a taste of Ponyville craziness. And he was looking forward to it. He smiled at the sights beginning to form around him; ponies setting up stalls, conversing, spending time together so peacefully. It made him happy. "I've always admired how ponies live their lives so freely. Much different from my home, and the villages around it."

Midnight nodded a little and seemed to try and shrink closer to him as a few ponies sent looks her way; they were looks of fear and almost like they were judging her. She looked straight ahead and continued to walk next to him, "How is it different if you don't mind me asking. I thought everywhere seemed like this. But maybe that's just what I hoped..."

Noticing the eyes of the ponies around them landing on Midnight, he frowned. She hadn't done anything; she was just trotting through town. One of the ponies even hid behind his stall. He was surprised that what she said was true; they really did judge her appearance. He tried to shrug it off, answering her question instead. "Well, our villages have somewhat strict rules. Young zebras are tasked to find a way to profit their village as they grow, to be a productive and reliable member of the tribe. As a guardian, a trader, a farmer... Though no matter which road you take, you are always put through physical training at a young age to learn to defend yourself and others from the predators of the swamp." He looked down, his smile beginning to fade. "My village tended to begin training colts at a younger age than most tribes, so the tasks tended to be more difficult for us."

Midnight frowned up at him, "I'm sorry...that doesn't sound very good for anypony. No pony should have to go through that. But I guess you didn't have a choice...did you?"
She seemed to be trying her best to ignore the ponies around them shooting looks her way as she tried to focus on him.

Granyl shook his head. "Well, no. It was a necessity for all of us. Disobeying was something some had to be taught not to do, though examples kept most of us in line." His view shifted to her, and he offered a small smile. "Our leader wasn't exactly a pleasant one. If it wasn't for him, I'm certain we would have respected the natural order the tribes had in line." He looked up at the sky, shooting a narrow-eyed glare at a cloud in the distance. "His love for power was disgusting, I've resented him for it since I was a small colt. He was a brute, not a leader." He sighed, shaking his head, before calmly looking forward.

"Of course, I've come to realize he at least taught me how one shouldn't be. Brutish and seeking power, rather than seeking peace, and harmony. I suppose I can be thankful for that, if anything."

Midnight smiled and nodded, "That's good. I never understood power-hungry ponies. None of it ever made any sense; why ponies would even strive to be that way in the first place. But then again, I'm sort of used to ponies like these in Ponyville. They all seem really nice without a care in the world."
