14 inches

Springy - Middle ground between whippy and rigid

Essence of Unicorn Hair - Unicorn hair is a more subtle wand, but it is quite compatible with Charms and Transfiguration. It is also hands-down the best core for healing, as it picks up some of the healing capabilities of unicorn blood. Unicorn hair has a reputation of picking gentler or more cerebral users, so it is common amongst Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws. More laid-back Gryffindors and subtler Slytherins may find themselves with a Unicorn hair wand.

It is a reliable, mid-range broom, capable of going from nought to one hundred miles per hour in ten seconds. The Meteor I also boasts an unbreakable Braking Charm, superb balance and precision, and hovers at reasonable mounting height when let go. The handle is made of polished hickory, and the twigs are made of cherry, making it a beautiful lightly-colored broom, with a white base and red twigs.

Patronus:
Orca / Killer Whale - Playful but intelligent, free-spirited, friendly, helpful, misunderstood (the orca is not a whale at all, but a dolphin) Orca people tend to be powerful, sensitive, and thoughtful. She's always specialized in healing magic and potions and feels she could do a lot of good by offering her skill to help those in need. Her goal is to work at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, which means she is required to have N.E.W.T.s of at least grade E (Exceeds Expectations) in the subjects of Transfiguration, Potions, Charms, Herbology and Defence Against the Dark Arts.

Biography:
Named after the superb fairywren, a beautiful blue bird her parents happily observed on their honeymoon in New South Wales, Australia, Wren is the daughter of a muggle mother and a wizard father. She grew up in the small muggle coastal town of Portishead, a suburb of Bristol, England. Her mother's side of the family was mostly fishermen, though her mother herself is a physical therapist. Her father grew up in the muggle world as well, despite being a wizard. Both his parents were magical, however, but they enjoyed living amongst muggles. Wren's father is a woodworker and runs a small business with his old Hogwarts friend and business associate Gill Groves, and together they are Glenn and Gill. Though they aren't big time, they have a wide selection of different objects and artifacts they create together, including wands and broomsticks. In recent years, they've been expanding due to their popularity and have been able to accommodate their customer's needs by affording rarer cores for their wands. By the time his daughter Wren was old enough to attend Hogwarts, Glenn and Gill took off enough for him to make her a wand he could be truly proud of that he knew would be perfect for his little girl, which it ended up being just that.

By the time Wren turned eleven and enrolled in Hogwarts: School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, she was not only already introduced to but also well accustomed to the wizarding world, as her father never hid that side of his life from his family. She already had helped him brew a few very simple potions and had watched him use his wand on numerous occasions, so she had witnessed magic growing up. Despite this, being that she lived in a muggle town, she also was in tune with the world of muggles and was no stranger to technology, fashion, and their currency system.

Upon arriving at Hogwarts and taken to the Sorting Ceremony, Wren wasn't at all sure what to expect. Her father came from a line of both Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs, with a few Gryffindors and Slytherins thrown in. She went in with no expectations, and so the Sorting Hat himself was given full freedom to sort her as he saw fit. Regardless, he still took a bit of time, as he acknowledged the friendly, passive, and honest nature that was inherint in Wren that would allow her to fit in well with Hufflepuff. However, the Hat also saw incredible originality, creativity, intelligence, and quirkiness in Wren that outweighed anything else, and so he announced confidently, "Ravenclaw!"

Ravenclaw turned out to be a wise choice for her, as Wren quickly found that she truly belonged there among other like-minded individuals. She enjoyed puzzling out the logical riddles that the bronze eagle knocker on the Ravenclaw common room door required in order to permit entrance. She also felt a sense of wonder and awe whenever in the beautiful circular common room with its arched windows that provided incredible views of the Hogwarts grounds or the dormitories that were inside turrets off the main tower, where she often heard the wind whistling past.

In addition, she also befriended a fellow Ravenclaw in her first year by the name of Riley Rouge, a lovely redheaded girl with a passion for life and solving the world's mysteries, much like Wren herself. Riley was a year older however, but because of this, Wren learned a lot from her during her first year and felt more comfortable at Hogwarts having someone to show her around and clue her in on everything she needed to know. However, it was a Slytherin, funnily enough, who become Wren's closest friend. Her name was Chloe Cassle, a petite brown-haired, brown-eyed girl whom she met her second year at Hogwarts. As often as their schedules would permit, Chloe, Riley, and Wren would often spend time together as a group though.

It later became evident to Wren as time went on that her friend Riley was interested in females, including Wren herself. This became troublesome for their relationships when this assumption was confirmed during Chloe and Wren's fourth year. Chloe grew worried that she might lose Wren's friendship if Wren and Riley were to start dating and spending more personal time together, whereas Wren was concerned of hurting Riley's feelings, as Wren never previously thought of herself as interested in other girls. Upon coming out, Riley seemed uneasy at first, but quickly adopted a much more indifferent attitude and put up a very brave show to the point of becoming more closed off and cool towards others. Riley reassured Wren several times that if Wren did not return the same sort of feelings, that it didn't bother her in the slightest. The more Riley pulled away though after that, the harder it became to hold all their friendships together, and the more Wren found she longed to be close to Riley again. Confusing this with romantic feelings, Wren swore off boys during her fifth year and instead focused on Riley and securing their relationship once more. Chloe took offense to this, as she felt Wren cared more about Riley than she did her, and Wren found herself in the middle of a tug-of-war game being torn in two different directions, unsure of how to balance everything out the way it once had been.

This all eventually culminated into a bit of a dramatic display during Wren and Chloe's fifth years. Wren, in an attempt to win Riley's friendship back after having inadvertently scared her away their previous year, found Riley alone by the Great Lake studying the misunderstood and often menacing Grindylows that the merpeople in the lake often tamed and kept as pets. Wren surprised Riley by sitting down next to her and offering her a Draught of Peace, a potion that Wren had only just that year learned to make in Professor Snape's class. Having been one of the few to successfully brew it, she decided to keep the potion for just such an occasion. Knowing how hard she worked and all the effort put into it, Riley accepted Wren's peace offering and drank the potion. She immediately felt relieved of all her anxieties, which allowed her to open up to Wren fully and for the two to sit and have a long discussion together about everything. It ended on a very positive note, but also a rather confusing one, as the two shared a brief but sentimental kiss, which left Wren feeling even more unsure about things. Wren had never had feelings for another girl before, but Riley held a special place in Wren's heart, and it was difficult for her to analyze and decipher her emotions. Deciding to ultimately see how things played out with Riley, Wren went on her way to tell Chloe the good news that they all could be a team again.

Unfortunately, Chloe had just been returning to the castle from her Care of Magical Creatures lesson when she had noticed Wren and Riley in the distance and witnessed their kiss. Unsure how to feel, Chloe returned to the common room and didn't speak to Wren for a few days, much to Wren's confusion. Finally, Chloe confronted Wren about the kiss and admitted that she had been acting selfishly and childishly, realizing that Wren could have love interests and still manage to be Chloe's best friend. Chloe told her how sorry she was for behaving greedy and needy. Wren, a little embarrassed, accepted the apology but admitted to Chloe that she still didn't know how to feel about Riley and that their relationship was a complicated one, but more than anything, Wren just wanted them all to be friends again. Happy to move forward with this, Chloe agreed, and the three started spending time together again.

During Wren's sixth year at Hogwarts, she met a Hufflepuff boy on the Quidditch pitch named Silas Moss. Wren, Chloe, and Riley had been watching a game between seventh year Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws, and much to their disappointment, Ravenclaw had lost. Arguably the star player of the day was Silas, one of the Hufflepuff Chasers who repeatedly scored more points for his team than anyone else. After the game, Wren stuck around to ask him what his secret was and to perhaps gain some knowledge from him, being that she also played a Chaser. Silas introduced himself respectfully and humbly dismissed her praise, insisting his team as a whole was quite good and that their win had little to do with him. At last, Wren convinced him that he was quite a skilled player, but by that point, they both had to get to their next classes for the day, so Silas ran out of time to provide Wren with any sort of advice on his play style. Most politely, Silas offered to meet with Wren a different day so that they could properly talk, and so the two coordinated on a date that worked well for both their schedules, which ended up being a week later. Much to her surprise, Wren quickly realized she could hardly wait to see him again, and just the mere thought of it gave her butterflies. He was, after all, very easy on the eyes clearly had some skill to boot.

When Wren and Silas met for the second time, they both found one another on the stone suspension bridge at the time they agreed upon just after supper. Silas surprised her by bringing an enchanted stone bird figure in the shape of a little wren that he put a charm on to flutter about and fly shortly whenever interacted with. He said he found the bird in a gift shop in Hogsmeade and it made him think of her. Delighted, Wren promised to keep good care of it but admitted awkwardly that she didn't get him anything. He laughed and shrugged it off, saying they didn't even know one another yet and that gifts were unnecessary and that his was simply a gesture to express how sorry he was that he couldn't help her with Quidditch before, only to follow it up with a witty remark about how she could make it up to him by doing him the pleasure of allowing him to see her more often. Completely taken with him, Wren agreed on a serious note, which almost seemed to take Silas off guard but left him smiling.

As it turned out, Silas's laid back, chill personality really meshed well with Wren's mellow attitude, and the two found they enjoyed one another's company quite a lot. Silas eventually was introduced to Wren's group of friends, and her to his. Upon meeting Silas, Riley noticed just how evident it was that he and Wren were both smitten with each other, and sad to finally let go of her long-running crush but ultimately happy for the two, she took a step back and allowed Wren to pursue who she truly belonged with. Silas's inclusion in the group actually ended up being the best thing for everyone, as it allowed Riley and Chloe to start spending more time together whenever Wren was with Silas, and soon enough Riley and Chloe became closer friends than ever. Everyone at last seemed to be in a good, healthy place in their lives and steadily growing up, ready for graduation. Riley soon met a lovely Gryffindor girl with whom she fell madly in love with, and Chloe felt free to pursue a fellow Ravenclaw boy she admirred in her childhood.
