You said he had this big understanding that he was going to have. Did you lose sight of that? Did you try re-reading all the posts and his outline, settling yourself back into him? If there is anything I can do, I'm here.

That got... pushed aside. In fact, it got completely offset. I thought I mentioned that.

I've re-read. I always do that when I get stuck. Didn't help this time...

I don't know whether to just sit a little longer and hope it comes to me, or just say it is futile, put it on hold indefinitely, start something easier, and wait for my worldbuild to come back.

Hah. I just thought of a funny. Remember why we started this RP? Because we thought starting from the ground up would be easier? I recall you saying that it changed. . . . .But that you had a new one or something. . . .You could always do a small semi nonsense post just responding to Tahaan's statement and then I could do a push forward and maybe give you something new to work on. Try a new front. . . .In fact, I has an idea. . . . .

And I still believe this is easier and more manageable than what we were trying to do before. But that doesn't mean it is easy. Easy is a story set on earth, where the only things we have to worry about are that our characters and whatever magic we decide to fling into this world make sense.

But, sure. We can give that a try. I'll... try and get something not too pathetic to you.

Don't worry, I promise I won't hate it, and I'm sure it'll be fine. If all else fail we could always try one set on earth-not-earth(That whats I call my earth settings since I don't like nitpicking over historic details or geographic accuracy when, say, I want a NY setting with a mountain range running through it for example) for easy sake. I've got a whole bunch new plot ideas up in my Menagerie that would work on an earth like setting. . . .

There is a mountain range running through New York. But I get your point all the same. So long as you keep a generally consistent geography with reality (not putting Chicago next to an ocean, putting New York City on top of the tallest mountain in the country, etc) I wouldn't mind. Just don't necessarily expect me to do the same.

God. Maybe we should just do that.

I'm sorry, Pope. I don't know if I can do this anymore. You are a very interesting person to talk to, and you are certainly a very nice and polite guy, but our roleplaying styles are so monumentally different that we conflict at practically every turn, and meeting halfway just means we are both dissatisfied. We've both tried so hard, but it doesn't seem to have gotten any better from the moment when we first met.

You can fight to keep me, if you truly consider it worth it. And I'll probably stay. But I can't just keep pretending that we... work.

I like RPing with you, despite the disagreements, and I'm sorry if it's not the same for you. We have got, what, 25 IC posts. For me, and I'm not calling your judgment into question, but for me, personally, that's not nearly enough for me to make a decision like that. I wish I could understand what you mean by monumentally different, seeing as all my partners are rather different from me and I enjoy most of my RPs with the small number of people who haven't vanished on me all of a sudden, or whose grasp of the English language seems to be that of a 4th grader at best. Can you, in any way, give me specific in character examples of what you mean? Or would you rather just let me know that it's no fun RPing with me and call it a day. I don't want you to feel forced, and I would never try and make someone stay, no matter if they were having fun or not. I'm not that kinda person.

I think, we could do something amazing. You are one of the most talented RPers I've come across and in truth I can see that being one of the reasons we clash so much. Most of my partners aren't as good as I am, so I tent to have to lead, or follow in a way that another really good RPer may not enjoy. Be blunt with me. What IC stuff is bugging you, stumping you, or otherwise making this unpleasant? Do you hate Tahaan's attitude? Do you not like the way he thinks? Do you not like how he interacts with Aysus? Or is what bugs you OOC stuff like how I see things developing, or anything like that?

This may sound off topic, but we both still RP with TShara(Inara) and I have a lot of fun with her. If we're both compatible with her. . . .I have no idea where I was going with that thought, but there it is. . .Perhaps I should take a look at you RP and see where we are missing. . . .

Anyways, if it's not fun for you, I don't wanna drag your RP life down. If this really just all sucks, then I won't try and stop you. It is not my intention to make your RP experience suck. . . .

We are both compatible with Inara or the same reason that we aren't as compatible. She is content to follow. We both take point, and she inserts pieces that bring the story and the world to life. But we are both dominant roleplayers, and the directions that we instinctively try and take stories don't line up. Our ideas on what is and is not necessary for the world, our ideas of magic, our ideas of people, our need to set down details or leave things open ended, somehow they always seem to be opposite. If we try and lay down everything in advance so that we both know what we need to know it takes so long and goes back and forth so much that it seems to become impossible. If we leave things open ended we wander in different directions with different beliefs, and then when one of us realizes this we are forced to realign, and we go back and forth until one of us gets frustrated enough to fold to the other's wishes.

I want to fix it, because I know I'm one of the most talented RPers most people come across. And that may sound vain, but it means when I find a partnership that gets me to think and to push my ideas a little bit, I want to keep it. But at the same time, I don't know if "fixing it" is possible. I've had to learn really quickly whether a story is going to work or not, because most of the time my partners abandon me quickly, and when I find myself consistently postponing my replies, no matter how many or how few posts there are, I know that something isn't working.

Maybe we should just... try again. Completely start over, and be willing to commit to starting over as many times as needed until we find something that we both fully understand, and we are both fully comfortable with. Something that... works.

I have had quite a few of my partners point out the exact same thing about me, including Inara. One of my partners made the joke, "If you were to wait until you found an RPer as good as you, you'd never RP again." I know that's a gross exaggeration but at the same time it helps me to understand how most of my partners view me, and part of what actually makes me compatible with them. I too am not vain, but I guess I've just developed the mindset somewhere back there in my brain at this point that most of the partners I find are not going to be as good as me.

Personally, I haven't actually RPed enough with you figure out if we are equal, or if your better or what not, but I do know we do think differently, and I am more than willing to continue working together. If you wanna try again, then do let's. I am a patient person, and that's even with RPs that bore me to death. I have 100% more patience with someone as good as you. Also, I've never abandoned a partner, so don't worry, I'll be here.

Sure. Wanna start off completely blank or do you have any ideas, or(Random thought) when I suggested looking at my plot ideas. . . .Did you actually go read them and that help with your conclusion that we are way different, or would you just rather not read that huge mess? Just a random thought, like I have. I has a billion thoughts at once, which is why I normally ask for guidelines, but if you'd rather just start a thread with "Insert Idea Here" then we can do that, I'm rambling :P Also, not trying to force you to read them :P

I have no idea where your menagerie is, or how to get there. But I'll look it over. I don't know if I'll take any of it, I tend to like to have a hand in the initial creation of the story ideas, but it could spark some inspiration.

Okay. Ideas that got a spark out of me. Ones I marked with ***** are ones where I have a plot I created a while ago that lines up with what you said almost exactly.

Warrior x Mage *****
God x Mortal (If I could play the god)
Detective x “Bad Guy” *****
Alien x Human
Death x Mortal (If I could play death)
Dark Half x Light Half (For some reason, my brain jumped to the idea of dissociative identity disorder. Which would make a very, very odd plot. But potentially interesting)
Accidental Hero x Fated Protector *****
Prince/King x Vampire (IICB the vampire)
In a land where people abandon their children to be raised in the wild as a natural part of their lives, a pair of twins are separated at birth, each selected by a different monster to be raise. They grow up, raised by these beasts less than a mile apart, separated by a wide river. One day one of the twins rescues the other from the river after a storm and they decide to travel together, with their beloved monsters at their sides to aid them in their journeys.

A creature is lurking through the streets at night, killing at random. A seasoned cop is hot on it's trail having tracked it across country. A talented young officer is assigned to the case, their keen eyes and powers of observation helping to point the cops in the right direction. The veterann at first takes issue with being assigned a greeny, but the vet soon starts to realize that it's more than natural talent guiding this young one. The newbie has a gift, and it's time to give it a workout. (IICB the newbie)

They have been hunted to near extinction. Where once they lived, in harmony with the local human tribes, they now must hide and scavenge where they can. As some of the last remaining members of the monster tribe, the small group of creatures must find a place to call their own. Lead by a strong fighter they pass through the human lands. There they come across a human who sympathizes with their plight and decides to travel with them, aiding them when and where possible. But the queen's royal hunters have been dispatched, and it's only a matter of time before they find the wayward band.

I'm sure there are others, but I ran out of reading patience.

Hahah. . . .I see you prefer the characters I do :P

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. . . . . . .Maybe I should take TShara-chan's advice and make a more streamlined thread so people don't have to shlog through a lot of reading to hunt down pairings they like. . . . .

*Stares at selections* Well, since I cam up with them, I love all of them. A few of them we can't do because of conflicting preference(I have a very strong idea on who/what Death is that never seems to coincide with other people's ideas, and stuff like that) sooooo. . . Hmmmm. . . .

-God x Mortal
-Accidental Hero x Fated Protector(If I can be Protector)

Any of those three would work, however since I think you said earth would be easiest, then I think the third one is closest to that, though the second one could be worked on earth too. . . .

A vigilante killer dances around a friendship with a no-nonsense, skilled police detective.

He was once the best assassin the world had ever known, trained since birth to be the perfect killer. But a series of people in his life were able to teach him a little bit about mercy and love, just enough that a young woman with a bright face, kind eyes, and gentle hands could tempt him to stray. He fled with her, and for ten years and two children they lived in peace. But the man who had raised him, trained him, and bet his whole future upon this perfect assassin would never forgive him.

Ten years exactly after he fled from the organization, his old boss, his father and mentor, tracked him down and slaughtered his family.

The policeman had never understood love. He ran away from home when he was young, and life tormented him until he nearly broke. The rules became his salvation. They were clear-cut, and left nothing to the imagination. Even his own broken heart could follow them. He joined the police and slowly worked his way up, a dedicated and ruthless dog, unbribable and with nothing to hold him back.

There was something about that case that caught his attention. Something in the face of the man who had just lost his whole family, a sadness so deep that it could only be called rage, mixed with an iron-hard focus.

The police never caught the criminals responsible for the murder, but the man returned to his home two months after the murder, and he seemed to have obtained some level of peace. The policeman never forgot about that look in his eyes. The man had owned a small, home cooked restaurant right near the police station, and now that he returned he re-opened it. The policeman started consistently going there to eat for lunch, and the two men eventually struck up an easy friendship.

At the same time, people were starting to turn up dead across the city. They were all criminals; rapists, murderers, thieves, gangsters, the ones the police knew about but could never touch. The policeman is convnced that the man is behind it, even though he has no evidence. The vigilante needs the information from the police to select his next kills. Both hide their deep mistrust and broken past behind smiling faces. Both hate the need to associate with the other, yet, even when they don't need to, they find themselves returning to the only other person who shares the broken rage of their own hearts.
