Imagine if you will, a world similar to our own. The same nations, the same religions, the same rivalries. However, international disputes are handled rather differently. Whenever any two nations have a dispute, they each choose a representative. This representative is a trained freelance martial artist or hand-to-hand combatant. These two representatives then fight on live pay-per-view television aired internationally, in a one-on-one fight, to the last person standing, with the proceeds going to a mutual international disaster relief fund. We would play these freelance representatives, being offered various rewards by various nations in exchange by winning them the challenges.

This sounds certainly intriguing. I'll throw in my hat of interest.
