This is where we can start figuring out your characters, who they are, and how they're connected.

Questions to answer before the game starts

  • What city are we in?
  • Who are you?
    • What archetype?
    • What's your name, look and demeanor?
    • What are your stats?
    • The Intro Questions from your Archetype.
    • What do you have? (Gear)
    • What can you do? (Moves)

All of those can be answered more-or-less independently of the other players, and I can help you all work through it. Once we have those, then we can start looking at the debts between your characters and other inhabitants in the city.

Things to do before the game starts

  • Read The Preface, The Basics, The Characters, The Moves and the Archetypes

Some thoughts on possible cities:

Boston: We're all fairly familiar with it and the surrounding environs. Pretty good selection of diverse communities to find characters in.

New York: This feels like the classic setting, lots of places highs and lows contrasts to develop.

Alternately, we could look outside our comfort zones a bit (I'm trying to get into a game set in Tokyo, for example). Moscow? Madrid? Kinshasa? These would all take some research to get into, but could be really fun.

Also, what kind of game are each of you looking to play? Any particular references in other forms of fiction (books, movies, TV) that you'd love to have the flavor of in this game?

So for cities, I don't really care too much. I"m more familiar with American cities but having never spent much time in any of them, I don't have a lot to go on. Boston seems a bit more local and less cliche then NY.

As far as Archetypes go I'd like to be one of the following: The hunter, The veteran, The wizard, or The tainted. Since we can only have one of each type in a group, I won't make any final decisions until I've heard from everyone about their choices.

So, I just realized that this forum apparently doesn't do email notifications for new posts to threads you've subscribed to. That might be enough for me to say that we should just move over to giantitp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?3.., where I'm playing my other games (which does do email notifications).

Fortunately, there's not much post history to move yet, so if we're going to do it, I'd say let's do it ASAP.

In fact, as I type this, I'm feeling like that's going to be our best bet (I'm going to have trouble begin timely without email reminders). I'll make some threads over there to get us started with. Sorry for the jumping around.
