Thistlestar

The sun rays of morning crept their way into the caverns that the cats of SilverClan called home. A light breeze blew through the shallow parts of the caves, carrying a crisp chill to it. Thistlestar knew that leaf-fall would soon come, and then leaf-bare would come soon after. The stocky, pale-colored tom did not know if his Clan was prepared for such a thing. For some reason, prey was scarce outside of the labyrinth, and they couldn't rely on trying to catch the scrawny bats and voles that hid away from their hungry claws.

The good thing was that the Gathering was that night. He would take a few cats with him to Frostpeak, the largest cliff within view of the two Clans. If they were to meet over the mountain peaks, it would be far too dangerous.

With a hefty sigh, the tom prowled into the main room of the caverns. There were already cats waking up, the moss hanging from their fur. Thistlestar stretched, bounding up to a flat rock at one end of the cave, where trickles of water crawled over the moist rock walls. It must have rained the night prior. "Morning border patrol," he called out. "Raindapple, take Ashfall, Sorrelmask, and Frostpaw and rescent the borders."

Iceheart

He didn't feel like waking up. Another day of working meant that he would soon become tired. But he knew that his Clan needed him, and so did his brother. If Iceheart didn't wake from his peaceful slumber, then, well, who would keep control of the Clan when someone panicked over something as minor as a tiny cough.

Iceheart yawned, stretching in his nest before rising from the gathered moss and twigs. Shaking out his pelt, his weary green eyes scanned the area about him. He wondered what they would need, for the day. But first... he needed to flatten his unruly fur. He began to give himself a few licks, his tail twitching as he felt a twig lodged within his pelt.

Emberwind

Emberwind always liked long walks through the marsh. The she-cat would get up early in the morning, picking her way through the tendrils that hid themselves in murky water. In her youth, many would tease her about her bright-colored fur, saying how she stuck out in the marsh in both leaf-bare and green-leaf. But she never cared; she always felt like she belonged in MarshClan's swamp. Sitting down on a patch of dry ground, she curled her tail around her paws and watched the darkness turn into dawn. It was always such a beautiful sight.

Sorrelmask

Sorrelmask rose from his nest, stretching and opening his jaws in a yawn. Around him, other cats of SilverClan were stirring in preparation for the morning's routine. Shaking the scraps of moss from his pelt, the brindled warrior ducked out of the warrior's den just in time to hear Thistlestar's voice ring through the cavern, calling him to join Ashfall, Frostpaw and Raindapple on the dawn patrol. Turning towards the hollow that served as the nursery, he could just glimpse the silky, silver tabby pelt of his mate, Silverstripe. The she-cat's fluffy tail was wrapped protectively around the tiny bodies of their kits.

Satisfied that they were still safe and warm, Sorrelmask joined the members of his patrol beneath Thistlestar's ledge.
"Morning Ashfall, Raindapple, Frostpaw." he purred, whiskers twitching.

Frogshade

Frogshade's eyes cracked open as the twigs in Iceheart's nest crunched with the tom's movement. The crippled she-cat lifted her head, blinking tiredly at her new mentor.
"Iceheart? Is...everything okay?" she asked him carefully, noting the way the medicine cat's tail was twitching and his face contorting into an uncomfortable grimace. "Thorin in your pelt?"

Cinderstar

In the center of MarshClan's camp, a pair of bright amber eyes flickered into view beneath the roots of the great willow tree. From the den located there, a sleek black cat emerged. Cinderstar's thick fur bushed out against the crisp morning air as she surveyed her Clan. She had only been leader for a few moons, but already MarshClan was stronger than they had been for many seasons, and that made her heart swell with pride. Birdsong flitted on the breeze as the sun peeked over the mountains, Cinderstar prowling down to the warrior's den and poking her head in, searching for the bright ginger pelt of her deputy, Emberwind.

The centermost nest that usually contained the deputy's sleeping form was empty and disturbed. Emberwind had probably made one of her solo trips out into the marshes to watch the sunrise. Cinderstar's whiskers twitched, she would sort out the first patrol instead then, slipping into the den she made her way towards a lump of dark grey tabby fur and prodded the tomcat sharply in the side with a paw.
"Darkshadow!" the Clan leader hissed at her brother. "Get up, would you, and take out the dawn patrol!"
"Hnnhh...who?" the tom enquired groggily as he sat up, flicking a clump of goose down off one of his ears. Grumbling softly, Cinderstar took a moment to consider which cats would be the best to put on such an early errand, snapping back.
"Oh...Whiteclaw and Lionshine will do! Get on with it, please!"

Ashfall

Ashfall, surprisingly, was one of the last cats to respond to Thistlestar's call. The dappled tom stretched as he trotted up to the gathering cats, blinking his green eyes at Sorrelmask. He appeared to be rather excited to go on patrol this morning. He simply gave the other tom a twitch of the tail, sitting down as Frostpaw basically ran up to them. The apprentice didn't have a mentor yet, much to his surprise. Perhaps Thistlestar was still thinking on who to give her to.

Iceheart

"It's almost like someone deliberately puts thorns in my nest," the large tom grumbled around the thorn in his jaw, placing it on the ground and sweeping it away with his tail. Iceheart shook his head, glancing over at his apprentice. "It's best to get a bite to eat before working, now isn't it?"

Whiteclaw

Whiteclaw didn't expect his leader to join them in the warriors' den. The long-furred tom basically sat up in a heartbeat, blinking the sleep out of his eyes as his ears twitched. He had been having a good dream, but... he didn't know Cinderstar was going to storm in and ask for a border patrol. "Oh," he said wearily as he padded out of the den, shaking out his fur. "Alright... come on, Lionshine, Darkshadow, let's go."

Sorrelmask

Sorrelmask took note of Ashfall's quiet demeanor and instead of making another comment, he simply nodded and sat himself down to wash his ears. The last thing he wanted to do was step on his Clanmates' toes. The brindled tom looked up and chuckled in amusement as the young apprentice bolted up to join them, skidding to a halt just in time to avoid crashing into him.
"Woah there, Frostpaw! Settle down, any cat would think it was your first day out of the nursery!" of course, she hadn't been an apprentice long so that was perhaps an excuse for her boundless energy but Sorrelmask did think it was necessary to gently encourage the young she-cat to tone it down a little. "Well, let's go get started shall we?" he mewed, heading for the tunnel that would take them above ground. "The sooner we start, the sooner we'll have it finished and be back in our nests!"

Frogshade

Frogshade's whiskers twitched in amusement and she stifled a purr of laughter. "Or maybe you need to check your moss first instead of just plopping it down in there and sleeping on it straight away!" she teased her mentor, arching her back in a stretch before padding out into the main cavern to get something from the fresh-kill pile as Iceheart suggested. "I can check it for you later on, while you're busy with some of the other herbs, if you want." she offered.

Darkshadow

Darkshadow grunted softly in response, hauling himself out of his nest and skittering quickly past his disgruntled leader to follow after Whiteclaw and Lionshine. Glancing over his shoulder as if to check they were out of her hearing range, he then leaned over to mutter into Whiteclaw's ear. "Don't worry about her, Whiteclaw. She's always in a bad mood lately, and you know she's just a bully." the two littermates had never gotten along, and it seemed Cinderstar's newfound leadership position had done nothing to soften the blows, verbal or physical, that she often inflicted on Darkshadow and any other cat that was unfortunate enough to get in the way during any of their confrontations. Mostly, Darkshadow just sat there, ears pinned back, and tolerated it, following any orders she gave him. Less cats got hurt that way, for one, and for another he was an awfully timid cat in reality.
