Heh, indeed... So, how goes? I'm in the process of dealing with the rest of my discussion posts I needed to catch up with on the site, and trying to work out some of my information on this PC while I do it. Also sort of in drafting the backstory for one of my characters a bit more. This dude has a really fucking messed up past; mind screw-ish too. Though that's not uncommon with my work, this guy really is a nasty case.

A rather large number of my characters have dark and troubled pasts. There's some exceptions to it, but quite a lot of them do. The main protagonist has it really bad since he's essentially based directly off of me and everything about him is a representation, either literal or metaphorical, of my life. The character I'm working on right now is one of the antagonists.

Hmm, I see. I've never really role-played with a canon character before, to be honest with you... On the first RP forum I was a part of (it was a Final Fantasy site), there was a point where I might've been picking one up, but it never happened. I did get around to doing up a profile and role-play sample for him though. I prefer to use my own characters.

Now that I think about it, the only time I've ever role-played using canon characters before was during a period of time I was part of a Suikoden-based role-playing forum. I was only there on and off for a few years, never sticking around too long because I had a lot going on and frankly a lot of the members were idiots. I'm wondering if maybe I should send you a link to the profile of the character on that other forum I almost started using (site basically died before I finished the profile).

Alright, well you'll find the profile in the link I sent you. I'm not sure how much of the site is open to the public, because we closed up parts of it to guests due to a hacker incident... Anyway, that was one of my user profiles; I had three going on this particular site around the time it died. I don't know how much you know about Final Fantasy, but the forum was basically set two years after the various games.

That site's where I got my start in play-by-post role-playing. Prior to that I had no experience whatsoever with role-playing using text. I joined that site a little over ten years ago, and sort of left and came back a few times due to a variety of reasons. Neither of the accounts I joined with my first time still exist, so I couldn't tell you exactly when I first joined. By my standards, I wasn't writing particularly well on that site either; most of my good role-playing happened on my own forums and on IM.
