After an arcane apocalypse, survivors, cling to shards of land drifting atop an aethereal fog. They float between two extremes, the enchantment of the mists below and emptiness of the sky above. Within the mists unbridled magic spawns nightmares and warps spells beyond recognition while above the astral void saps the power from magician and monster alike. Despite this benign magic continues to survive: bubbling in the potions of alchemists; pumping through aether-powered machines, humming in silver weapons and sheltering inside all living beings.
