If, perhaps, I were ready to join this, what would I have missed? I've been trying to read along but a lot has happened.

Bunch of characters appeared on side of road, some crossing paths, all not knowing why.
Expect one, who the main group followed to a safer area, but the moment the situation was explained the thing that they're trying to defeat appeared, but I don't think they're ready for yet.
Anyway, Elma (the one who knew what was going on) is about to get others through to another universe (I believe that's where the door will lead anyway), the giant robot guy appeared, and the twins are not near this chaos.
