Welcome, welcome, welcome. I'm in search of people to roleplay within a setting of my own design from my online novel series. If what I'm going to present in this thread interests you at all, don't be afraid to speak up at all. Just keep in mind of the stipulations given within the proposition.

With that said, let's get things underway.

True Earth - you're probably wondering what does that insinuate, and what kind of world is it? It's planet Earth, but within the lore of Gray Heroics, it's now it's TRUE size. 5x larger than any normal earth. However, this isn't exactly a history lesson. The past isn't exactly a real concern of yours. Your day is here and now. You weren't even alive during the days the planet was smaller!

Your home is the Abraham United Kingdom. A massive exclusively human city within the region of Rocklands. You're no civilian, though. No, no, no! You were raised within the Abraham United Kingdom's military - handed right over to the institution under the policy of every household having to hand over one newborn to the military in the name preservation. You don't know your birth parents, nor are they allowed to interact with you until you're 16, which is when you gain the privilege to travel throughout the kingdom within its walls.

Did I mention the Abraham United Kingdom is the size of every human continent combined into one immeasurable land mass? Sounds absurdly massive, huh? Well it's not. It's merely ten percent of True Earth... The Giants' have the most territory on the planet. Their corner occupies 20% of it.

But hey, you can definitely venture from the face-state of the Kingdom, America, all the way to the state of Japan without any body of water dividing them! Yes, they're states now. You didn't read that incorrectly.

Anywho!

Not only are you (16 - 56) years old now, but you've earned your first stripe! That's a ranking of a Subordinate, which allows you to explore outside the Kingdom's walls. How? Not because you fulfilled advanced training, but because Grandfather has recognized you as a prodigy and a valuable asset. Who is he? The one who first carved a path for humankind and formed the Abraham United Kingdom military. It's why you were raised by nuns and taught to see your peers, superiors and initiates alike, as family. They are your brothers and sisters. Human civilians are your 'cousins'.

Within your upbringing in the military, you were trained to be the best that you can be. You were given access to Holy magic, taught how to utilize it, taught how to fight hand to hand in kick-boxing, trained to use swords, knives, guns, bows, and essential tools.

Grandfather has decided he wants to personally take you outside of the walls to get a feel of it. You're not going anywhere too dangerous or prestigious, he's taking you on a journey all the way to the hub city of Gathahere. A city of trades, markets, well of information, and various opportunities. And one where many races try their best to coexist. High Elves, Night Elves, Dwarfs, Vampires, humans, Orcs, and even Cyborgs.

_______________

That was a lot to take in! That's enough information dumping, let's talk about who you are on a more intimate level.

Character Creation Sheet:

Military uniform for all character applicants, male and female.

{Race Foundations}

Human: Standard. You're pretty simple for the most part. There isn't much to say, really.

Power Inheritor Human: Humans born with a superpower from their respective bloodline. Super strength, telekinesis, super speed, magnetism, etc. More than likely, you're not exactly as special as you might be thinking you are.

Cryonean: Beyond 'super Human', and quite rare. Cryoneans have left the planet over 50 years ago... You're definitely one of Grandfather's biological children.

You're highly resistant to cold weather, but summer days are a dread for you. Sauna's? You're pretty durable physically, but in one of those, you're going to faint in less than two minutes.

You also have FULL access to Cryonean magic.

Cryonean/Human halfling: So, your family lineage is slightly harder to pin down. That aside, you're 2x more capable than any normal human peer. Still resistant to cold weather, and less sensitive to high temperatures.

You have LIMITED access to Cryonean magic.

__________

{State Birthplace Benefit}

America: Good ol' red, white, and blue land. Being born here, you become physically more capable when adrenaline is pumping through your blood.

Japan: The land blessed by the Japanese God Narukami. Being born here grants you access to Reikra, a magic energy source that can be used as raw output or to perform Ninjutsu's.

Europe: Being born here grants you assess to being closer to the truth than most people. At least, when it comes to crime scenes. By letting your soul essence expand, you can have the story of an environment told to you through sounds and silhouettes.

________

Soul Essence: Soul Essence is the ability to reach into one's self and draw out their inner potential. Mastery of it increases the user's physical capabilities, magic potency, and senses by 3x. Not everyone knows about it, but anyone with a soul can use it. Every member of the Abraham United Kingdom army has been trained to master it since at least the age of 5-years-old.

Have questions? Please, ask them.

Alright, I'll bite.

I guess my first question is about the actual setting. You're talking about a sort of fantasy-style medieval kingdom, but there's elements that suggest space travel (one race that left earth, unless you meant "extinct") and cybernetics (cyborgs). So I'm really trying to get a sense of how advanced tech has gotten, since the impression I got was medieval fantasy style.

Second question is about the logistics of the Abraham United Kingdom, which I'm guessing is part of the Americas (?). Just wondering if it actually is one massive sprawling city (because Jesus that is humongous and would require micro-managing with I'm guessing district officials), or in a similar way Attack on Titan had its walled off city where the epicentre was one giant Metropolis-like system, but the more outward you got it was more akin to small towns and villages spread out across fields/forests/lakes/etc.

Third, why is that "one newborn recruitment" policy in place, exactly? Is the kingdom at war? Is it just for the sake of adhering to an archaic rule that nobody really bothered to look closer if it was still relevant? This is mostly for my own curiosity, and potentially for a character who'd be very interested in why that rule is in place once they're old enough to comprehend the enormity of that sacrifice (since it's essentially forcing parents to give up a child).

Fourth is mostly what the general idea/plot is for this story beyond just exploring a world and having generic adventures. Which ties back to my intial curiosity on why that policy is in place, which may suggest political or military necessity - and imply there's war or some trouble brewing.

Fifth. What's generally the purpose of the AUK's military? Do they simply serve as war fodder, or do they also have duties in enforcing laws, maybe even protection jobs of high priority individuals within the city?

And my final question: is it just humans who are subject to the child policy thing? Or is it strictly a human controlled settlement where interaction with other races is strictly political and there aren't actually any other races living within AUK walls?

@Byte My apologies. I didn't receive a notification that someone posted on my thread. I randomly decided to check just now and coincidentally saw that you did. Luckily, not too much time has passed. I'll answer all of your questions with as much clarity as I can.

1. So this world is based on my novel series, Gray Heroics, which had different realms prior to True Earth forming. These realms were made by the biblical God within the world to separate what he believes to still be untainted, because he held certain occurrences on earth in contempt. Vampires are Deviltry and spread like a disease, Elves - dwarfs - orcs - and giants aren't of his making, and those from the future had forsaken religion and legitimacy of flesh.
Space travel was indeed a thing within it. Right now, NO earthling has highly advanced technology that allows them to casually explore space. Cryoneans are a highly advanced alien race that possess such tech, but they've left Earth after picking up those that were stranded on it for over 60 years. What's left are what was always on earth, but divided. I hope that helps at all.

2. The Abraham United Kingdom is ALL of the human continents. Image our real life word, then envision them drawing at a center point. Islands, too. They're all combined into one massive land, and it's ALL the Abraham United Kingdom. There are indeed micro managed by chosen officials, but all law enforcement is provided through the military. Bases all over and available for anyone able bodied to join. Supplies are mostly the same, but fishing is done outside of the walls. The earth is now just 22% water, but it's still much larger than the Abraham United Kingdom's huge city. That ocean is now at the center of the planet and everyone now refers to it as the Deep Crown. That has it's own layers of lore, mysteries, and mashup of history from various eras.

3. The Newborn recruitment policy was implemented for nuanced reasons, but mostly to fend off potential attackers of any kind. It's not that there aren't many young capable human males around, it's that newborns were specifically needed to raise lots of Super Soldiers that would easily outperform any healthy human who lived a simple life. There's a power system in Gray Heroics. A universally accessible 'technique' called Soul Essence. Soul Essence, even if it sounds incredibly cheesy, is the inner power of believing in yourself. Learning to utilize it can increase your physical capabilities by 1.1x and all the way up to 3x. It can also greatly increase the results of training your body. If someone is able to obtain 3x output, they have mastered the foundation of soul essence. With it, your base capabilities increase by 3x when you have growth spurts. As an example, let's say a child who's 5 years old mastered soul essence and trained until he was able to lift 500 pounds. When he becomes a pre-teen, he can now lift 1,500 pounds. He grows into a teen, he can lift 4,500 pounds. Adulthood (the final growth) he can lift 13,500 lbs before even needing to use soul essence at all.
If it's still confusing, let me know.

4. That's a fair question. The idea is to get used to the world outside of the walls, but a particular main plot point? I didn't quite plan on putting anything as heavy as campaign on anyone who joined at the beginning. There are definitely warfare taking place in the world. The A.U.K. in particular are in the midst of gaining more territory from the Night Elves, and there are also soldiers on the opposite side of the world trying to secure land outside of the kingdom to have safe access to more resources, such as mine caves.

I can concoct a long-term storyline if everything else feels inconsequential or to small to stimulate interest.

5. They are indeed meant to be war fodder, but their duties expand beyond an open battlefield. Some do indeed as law enforcement in the city. Some are black ops, some are in human gangs (a Yakuza group named 'The Black Dragons' being a very effective one) that operate discreetly in organized crimes in favor of the A.U.K.

6. Narratively? No. Humans aren't the only ones making use of newborns as future super soldiers.
In every region, there are kingdoms that are racially exclusive. The A.U.K. is definitely one of them. However, there are lots of places out in the open world where different races coexist. Places like A.U.K. or any other race's main stomping grounds will usually refuse racial outsiders. Vampires are made up of different races, so they're not at all much focused on appearance, only if you're free game to feed on, politically useful, or loyal to certain vampire lords.
