Rough concept, but here we go!
I have my soft-spoken trans girl Saoirse. Hailing from Strathbeck in Ireland, she has been writing to her penfriend in America for roughly a decade or so now. She doesn’t really talk about her identity to people in real life, but her penfriend/best friend knows everything about this as she trusted her deeply, and does indeed still trust her a hell of a lot.
I kind of imagine <penfriend> as being the sort of rich mean girl cliche you might see in movies, but with Saoirse she is different. She can be her true self as she knows she doesn’t judge, especially when she comes out and starts signing letters as Saoirse, not as Sean. But we can totally discuss this.
I love the idea of Saoirse coming to America/Canada for a surprise for her penfriend’s college graduation, maybe arranged with <friends>’s parents in secret? Or maybe <pennfriend> is an artist, and this is her first show? Saoirse would be 20, being roughly a year or so younger then her. Turning up at her front door as a surprise, or maybe her parents claim they need to pick up a friend from the airport and it's Saoirse? Wearing a hoodie and bracelet <name> sent her once?
Or even getting Saoirse into the graduation/show so she’s sat there able to witness it all in person? <Penfriend> seeing her from across the stage, and having to hold in all the emotions until she’s off the stage and mingling with the crowd?
I just love the idea of that first hug, hanging out, talking in person and realising that the fact they were best friends (Maybe even love each other like sisters) through letters is only made stronger by being side by side in person?
