Ether. What revolves around the extensive magic foundries of Hiro Mashima is that his works are related & therefore shares consistent lore.
Emotion is what stirs Ether to various binds of Magecraft, the intricately distinctive forms of Magic Power. A Canonical fact, as temperamental forms directly amplifies our magical power. The enchantment from ones emotions, increases, the potential of Wizards to 120% or more, each awakening, surpassing every trigger.
Ethernano on the other hand are the particles of magic that're divided into various forms of Magic Power. For every spell, cast by you, the amount of Ethernano within lessens, that is until Ethernano automatically come from the atmosphere, & enters the Mage's body and after a while, restoring their Magic Power. Edea, is the metric unit system that measures Ethernano in general.
Ethergear is second to the highest form of Magic that marks maturity of Wizards & it is an inherent, bloodline or succession trait. Only those with Ethergears have the ability to transfer magic.
