-༺❘✦ B a c k s t o r y ✦❘༻-He called himself Lullimello, a name he had stolen from True Lullimello, the ringleader of Lullimello’s Travelling Troupe - a circus he had once belonged to. This cunning young halfling has fond memories of late nights at the carnival, for it was there he practiced his profession: thievery. Sneaking between stalls under dimly lit string lights, he would relieve fairgoers of their valuables to pay his board. He came to believe that his sticky fingers could eventually, if they found the right pockets, take him anywhere he wanted to go.
The false Lullimello slipped from the troupe on a stormy night, certain he would never cross paths with the patchwork big top again. Thereafter he lived a life of spontaneity, galavanting on a misadventure whenever it presented a purse to pursue. He stole magical scrolls from the Grand Library of Galvonstone where elemental guardians chased him through a dusty maze of bookshelves. On a tour of Maroni’s Marionette Factory, he weaved through a web of trip wires to loot the magical Puppet’s Dagger from a secured vault. In the old city of Wearyeden, he meandered through the Museum of Magical Artefacts after hours, freeing a sentient skeletal hand from its’ glass case.
With stolen scrolls, a talking dagger and a boney companion that pointed the way, Lullimello walked the high road to Crosk, alongside thousands of travellers with treasures to trick. As his notoriety spread, so too did the number of furious marks on his trail. In the end, it seems the real wealth were the enemies he made along the way.
-༺❘✦ P e r s o n a l i t y ✦❘༻-What a merchant would call theft, feels like participation to Lullimello - after all, aren’t exchange and scarcity the cornerstones of commerce? He would like to ease the burden of such heavy stones. With a catlike curiosity that treats anything locked, closed or forbidden as an invitation to test their measure, he has a habit entering places he doesn't belong and tipping balanced coins into his pocket. He thrives on the trouble that follows because his tales have become a currency to share around campfires.
At the end of the day, when he reluctantly crawls into a bedroll, he isn’t Lullimello the somewhat infamous thief. He’s Borton Runtzaweigh, the struggling halfling urchin. Rest leads to self-reflection which is difficult to face when you have an identity crisis. Sleepless nights suit him better for there’s less thinking to be done when your hands are busy.
