Long, long ago, the mortal realms of Yor once lived in peace. All were blessed by the Goddess and wanted for nought, until one day the dragons descended from the heavens and laid waste to the lands. With wings of fire, they tore the world asunder, bringing a violent end to the Age of Bliss and ushering forth the Age of Darkness.

Calling out to the skies, humankind prayed for the Goddess to intervene and in answer she sent forth her warrior angels - radiant beings with wings of light - to do battle with the dragons. And there in the heavens did they clash for millennia.

So terrible and great was the destruction they wrought that the fields withered, giving rise to famine, and the dead lay in such number that a terrible miasma grew from their bodies, giving rise to disease. And in their desperation to survive, all who yet lived turned against one another, fighting over what little remained and giving rise to all consuming war.


Eventually, the angels of the Goddess prevailed against the dragons, but naught would be as it once was once was for the scars of the Great Battle lingered on. Food remained scarce, the miasma continues to plague the lands and all the realms could not forget nor forgive the hurts they'd inflicted upon one another.

Worse still, the presence of the dragons live on in those who partook of their blood and raised up arms in their service. These corrupted souls we call the Tainted will in time take on corrupted forms like that of their masters and if allowed to remain, they may yet complete the death of our world.

And so that is why we hunt them. So that the lands may one day heal, so that the realms of mortalkind may one day know peace and so that we, who laid the dragons low at great and terrible cost, may one day return to the side of the Goddess...

The premise is fairly simple, you can roleplay as an angel or a a blessed mortal (humans only) and the goal is to hunt the Tainted. You can also choose to make your character one of the Tainted but your goal will be same, to hunt others of your kind.

After the great war against the dragons, Angels have become few in number and so must rely on the help of mortals to complete their task: to cleanse the world of dragonblood. Angels possess the following abilities:

• Flight
• Immortality (cannot age)
• Enhanced Strength
• Enhanced Durability
• Healing
• Protective Barrier
• Summon Weapon
• Summon Light
• Summon Lightning
• Telekinesis
• Telepathy

The Blessed are essentially familiars to the angels who granted them power, allowing them to possess the same abilities as them except for flight and immortality. There may also be mages carrying the original Blessings of their ancestors from the Age of Bliss, allowing them to manipulate the elements around them (and nothing more).

The Tainted (also referred to as dragonkin) possess a variety of abilities depending on the stage of their gradual transformation into a dragon:

Loss of Blessings (if applicable) > Enhanced Strength through increased muscle mass > Enhanced Durability through the development of scales > Regeneration > Nails grow into Dragon Claws > Teeth grow into Dragon Fangs > Firebreath > Development of horns and tail > Development of wings > Flight when wings reach sufficient size > Command Thralls of other Tainted at lesser stages of transformation > Mind and personality overtaken by primogenitor (original source of dragonblood) > Complete transformation into a dragon

Those who choose to hunt their own kind become known as 'redeemers', sworn to a life of servitude and to never sire any children. In exchange they are allowed to live until the call of the dragonblood becomes too strong to resist and their minds are no longer their own.

I'm getting Elden Ring vibes from this. Do you want some feedback? I'm gonna put it in a hider just in case you don't want it, haha! No one is responding to my Int Chks either so I dunno how valuable my thoughts are. Anyway, it's a good idea! This forum is a tough nut to crack for some reason.

It's just a bit too late, but thanks for the feedback anyway. I honestly hadn't considered those things at the time and now I wish I did 😅

I didn't have a central antagonist in mind, but I was thinking that anytime a Tainted managed to complete their transformation into a dragon, it'd basically be like a resurrection for whichever dragon the blood originally came from so anytime they popped up, it'd be a bad guy of the week sort of thing with each having a different game plan.
