Kimberly nearly slammed the brakes.

"What?!"

Then came the ketchup.

She closed her eyes for a second.

"Liza."

A deep sigh.

"I need you to understand that those are two very different emergencies."

Kimberly glanced in the rearview mirror.

"If you ever start sentence with 'I'm bleeding,' do not follow it with condiment."

The trees seemed to grow thicker on both sides of the road.

"Hm."

She narrowed her eyes at the woods.

"See? This is exactly how horror movies start."

A pause.

"Everyone ignores weird noise."

Another pause.

"Then somebody gets eaten."

She pointed a finger toward the back without looking away from the road.

"And if monster shows up, I'm throwing ketchup girl at it first."

"No. The microphones are how we get evidence."

A beat.

"The giant camera is how we pay rent."

She caught Liza scooting away and rolled her eyes.

"Oh, relax. I'm not actually feeding you to monster."

Another pause.

"...You are too skinny. Monster would complain."

At the question, Kimberly glanced toward the dark trees lining the road.

The playful expression faded for just a second.

"Hm."

She drummed her fingers against the steering wheel.

"Honestly?"

A shrug.

"With group of YouTubers trapped in van together for three hours, I'm not convinced the monster is outside."

Her eyes flicked to the rearview mirror.

"I think monster came with us." (your not annoying at all im having fun )

"...Liza."

A pause.

"Liza, were you actually checking for monster?"

She stared into the rearview mirror.

For a moment she couldn't tell if Liza was joking.

That worried her.

"No, I did not check trunk because normal people do not routinely inspect vehicle for cryptids. I simply meant you all are little gremlins and going to kill mental health before trip is done "

Kimberly huffed a laugh.

"Fun trip. Yes. Not taxes. Also yes."

She glanced at Liza checking under the seat.

"No gremlins."

A beat.

"Probably."

At the question, she shook her head.

"Gremlin is not compliment."

Then, after a pause:

"...But you can take it as one if it makes you happy." (sorry for taking so long to respond my cumputer is acting up didnt see that till now)

She glanced at Liza’s empty wrist.

"Time says: still in car."

A beat.

"Also says: stop asking."

She kept her eyes on the road, but her tone softened a little.

"Not there yet."

Another pause.

"And yes, it is long ride. That is why people bring patience."

She tapped the steering wheel once.

"You are doing fine. Just sit still before you become actual gremlin."

She shook her head.

"Rookie mistake."

At the mention of the muffler, she narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

"...Why does everyone keep hearing noises except me?"

A beat.

"If van falls apart, we all fall apart together. It is called teamwork."

Then she pointed toward the back.

"And no fetching car parts from middle of haunted woods. That is how people end up in documentaries."

She shook her head.

"Next trip, you can drive."

A pause.

"Actually, no. Terrible idea."

Kimberly listened to the increasingly confused tree counting for a moment.

Then another.

Then another.

"Liza."

A beat.

"You lost count at four."

She glanced in the mirror, fighting a smile.

"If ghost shows up before you reach ten, I am blaming you."

Another pause.

"And if you're tired, take nap. Haunted town will still be haunted when we get there." (kk totally fine :P )

The click of the seatbelt made Kimberly's head snap around.

"LIZA."

The van swerved slightly.

"What are you doing?!"

Before Liza could answer, Kimberly hit the brakes and pulled hard onto the shoulder.

The van rocked to a stop.
For a moment there was silence.
Kimberly stared at her.
Slowly.

"Sit."

Another point.

"Back."

A deep sigh.

"I am driving haunted-town YouTube trip, not transporting free-range lunatics, but fine I'll check what is making strange car noise "

Kimberly climbed out of the van with a muttered curse.

"I cannot believe I pulled over because of your conspiracy theory."

Rain drizzled through the trees as she crouched beside one of the rear wheels.

Then she froze.

"...Oh."

A beat.

She stood and pointed.

"Liza."

Another pause.

"Come here."

Her voice had lost most of its annoyance and almost sounded worried .

Wedged near the wheel well was a human arm
