Type Of RP: This RP seeks to examine the motif of betrayal primarily. It is a sequel RP to Abandoned Hope, in which characters sought to avert the apocalypse. Having done that, there are crimes that need to be addressed. Someone is out for revenge my dears--and they're gunning for your head.
Goal Of RP: Solve the mystery of Coventry, Massachusetts. Discover the identity of your (would-be) murderer. Survive.
Age Requirements: Minimal age for characters is 15



Premise

June 20th, 2016. A day that was thought to live in infamy as the end of the world. Spirits rose from their graves, plagues spread across the land, and natural disasters brought the strongest to their knees. But that is not the memory that lives on, no. Those who sacrificed themselves for the survival of humanity are forgotten by most all, deemed a part of the tragedy of the Altsoba massacre. The small town, the epicenter of the apocalypse, is remembered as nothing more than a troubling combination of religious paranoia and hallucinogens.

If only that was the case.

The Altsoba massacre was covered up by O.M.E.N., the Organization for the Methodical Eradication of Necromantics. Necromantics. Just another word for the undead that walk among us, for the witches who cast spell over our lives, and the creatures that rob us of humanity. O.M.E.N. has been running covert missions to exterminate the remaining necromantics, and they show no mercy. The innocent and the guilty are killed all the same. There are no grey areas.

Two months ago, on Halloween--the universe loves ironies--the leaders of O.M.E.N. vanished without a trace. A well thumbed book is all that remained, covered in what forensic experts later determined to be the blood of the two missing men. The book was Coventry by Frederick Taylor, detailing that disturbing fable. The legend ran that England knew that the Nazis would plan Coventry, and rather than tip their hand, they allowed it to happen.

But that's just a story. And our story begins in a different Coventry--one located just twenty miles out from Salem, the site where so many young witches bled. A town with constantly evolving bloodshed, it is marked by betrayal, just as Altsoba before it was marked by death. Sal Aldrich, the owner of Coventry Horrors, a themed hotel, has been found dead. Hanged, even. The police recovered a note, their only indication that it wasn't a suicide. They were coordinates. And when the police went to the location, they found the bodies of O.M.E.N.'s leaders.

Sal wasn't the only death. More followed, each with a more disturbing note than the last. Sal's daughter, Andromeda, took over management of the hotel during the investigation. Experts on necromantics have been looking into Coventry with apprehension, only increasing when Fiodora, a performer with a traveling circus, was found dead. But there were not coordinates with her body. There was a note, penned in the same bloodied ink.

Rejoice, for I have returned -M

It's December 28th, my dears. The unluckiest day of the year, marked by history's most famous betrayal. Come with me to a land filled with deception and crime, where history meets the present in more ways than you can expect...Come with me to a world filled with blood. A world filled with lies. There's only one way out, my dears, and that's death.

Housing

The housing will be assigned by the Gm after your CS is submitted and approved. It will be partially random - Depending on the character history each character will be assigned chances at a particular floor of the hotel and then the dice will decide. The GM will inform you if your CS is approved what your housing situation is. The only exception will be performers in the Circus -- they'll be instructed to just put "Circus Grounds" down for their housing assignment.
First Floor



Families tend to rent rooms on this floor. The room is playful in nature, with two queen beds. There's a small ensuite, but it's nothing special. Kids love it though, and its cheap price makes it affordable for the modern family!

Second Floor



Couples tend to rent this floor. It gives you the fun of being in a themed hotel, with a nice and comfy bed as well. The ensuite isn't half bad, either, and there's a small little couch in the corner with a television set.

Third Floor



Thrill seekers tend to rent on this floor. It might not look much, but it's almost the most expensive offering at Coventry Horrors. The room is deceptively plain, but at night, it comes alive. Some of the more optimistic claim it's haunted by two young children, killed in their sleep. Others think that it's all just a gimmick. But hey, whatever works, right?

Fourth Floor



The most expensive rooms of the hotel. Each resident gets a suite, complete with a queen sized bed (as pictured above), ensuite with master bath, and small sitting room. Those on the fourth floor are also offered complimentary tours of the city by the owner's daughter, who runs the curiosity museum in town.

Lore of the Necromantics

This list will be updated as information is revealed. The information below constitutes basic supernatural awareness after the events of the Altsoba massacre. There is still more yet to be discovered...

Buruburu:
  • Ghost sickness will kill a human within 48 hours, yet will speed up the more wicked a person is.
  • It can only be cured by destroying the buruburu (the original ghost).
  • Only those with a personality trait or physical trait similar to the original ghost can catch Ghost Sickness

Demons:
  • Devil's Trap: prevents a demon from leaving
  • Holy Water: burns demons
  • Exorcism: There are several differently styles of this, but all of them remove the demon from the host. Some will send the demon to hell, others will force the demon to manifest itself so it can be killed or sent to hell permanently.
  • Flesh Sigil: If a sigil is carved into the host's flesh, the demon will be powerless
  • Ghosts: Ghosts can remove a demon from its host
  • Hallowed Ground: Some demons are unable to enter hallowed ground, such as churches. These tend to be the weaker ones.
  • Hex Bags: these can hide people from a demon
  • Holy Fire: Holy oil lit on fire, it roasts a demon.
  • Iron: Demons cannot cross an iron barrier or touch iron without extreme pain
  • Palo Santo: Stab the demon with this, the host smokes and the demon cannot move
  • Damaging the host may force the demon to choose a new host, or be slowed down
  • Purified Blood: This, when injected into a demon, is incredibly painful.
  • Salt: Demons cannot step over salt, pass a salt line, or touch salt. Touching salt results in (you guessed it) extreme pain.
  • Demons can be cured through the Demon Purification Ritual.
  • Demons can be killed by angel blades.
  • Demons will flinch and have their eyes turn black when the name of the Lord is spoken.

Deviances:
Not much is known as to how these work. Sometimes, people come out a little funny. Maybe they can see things others cannot. Maybe they have a sixth sense when it comes to healing. If there's anything that makes them a little odd, especially if it would make O.M.E.N. interested in them, it's a deviance. These will be heavily scrutinized.

Ghosts:
  • Salt and iron can stop them.
  • Burning their bones will kill them.
  • They require an anchor to the world to exist.

Quareen:

  • A Qareen will appear to be an incredibly beautiful person.
  • They seduce and then devour their master's target.
  • They are controlled by means of their heart.
  • If the heart is stabbed, they perish.

Rakshasha:

  • They feed on human flesh.
  • They must be invited inside.
  • They can assume any shape or form.

Vampires:

  • Vampires can be killed with a stake to the heart.
  • Fire destroys their body quickly.
  • Sunlight exposure kills them
  • Vampires can be killed by having their heads cut off
  • Holy items burn vampires
  • Garlic repels vampires.

Witches:
  • Witches can be taken down with iron.
  • They require hex bags or DNA to complete their long, complicated rituals.
  • They have sold their souls to the devil.

    • Gm has final say on all matters
    • Gm does check on posting and log in habits
    • If you are holding up the RP and joining other Rp's you will be called on it

    • Use code provided below
    • Do not submit WIP's - Final CS's only
    • Post CS for approval in OOC
    • Only GM approved CS's allowed in CS Tab
    • Change color code to one not in use
    • If you have problems with changing out the color code or any of the coding, just pm it to me and I will take care of it for you.
    • May not use default CS color, any colors currently in use by active characters or that are close to another characters color
  • This is a slice of life rp
    • Real Life cause and effect will be in place
    • Realistic Character Sheets Only
    • Things like jobs and skills must fit with characters back story
    • Don't go overboard - seriously, enjoy not knowing things and learning as you go.
  • Language - No Filters
  • Gore - No Filters - This will get gross
  • Taboo subjects will be crossed but will be maintained to fade to black if needed
  • Romance is allowed but this is NOT a Romance RP - Pg-13, then fade to black
  • Follow All Forum Rules
  • Communication is Key
  • The world is controlled by the GM - All NPC's, weather, what you see, what you find, what happens, everything. So if it isn't in my post, it didn't happens
  • If you wish your character to have "connections" please run it by the GM first to ensure it is acceptable and isn't already being done by another.
  • Randomization and LLA are used in this RP - Please refer to Lady Amalthea's tutorial for a description if you are new to this concept
  • Posting Habits

    • Minimal of 2 well developed paragraphs per post
    • Must IC post once every 7 days (It is your job to keep up with when you need to post. Your last post hits Day 8 and I remove you from the RP.)
    • I do not accept no inspiration as a reason not to post
    • Keep up with all IC and OOC posts
    • No word in IC or OOC after 7 days is grounds for removal from the RP.
    • If you need additional time to post you must notify the Gm by day 5 of your counter. Extensions will not be granted after that.
    • No spamming OOC
    • Under Extras in the CS mention your favorite horror-esque story so I know you at least skimmed this...
    • Minimal 2 posts between your last
    • There is no additional time granted due to forum glitches unless the forum is fully down. A week to post is plenty of time even if the forum glitches a day or two
    • Collabs may not be started after your day 5 counter
    • If you are collabing and your partner vanishes or does not reply, you must finish the collab and post it before the timer runs out
    • If your collab partner vanishes you are granted temporary minimal bunnying privileges to complete the collab
    • If your collab partner vanishes, you need to make the Gm aware so it does not count against you
    • Know your personal posting limitations before applying to join
    • If you cannot post, you must contact the GM and make me aware, you will be granted extra time to post (do not take advantage of this) - I realize real life comes first but you know your schedule better than anyone, if you join it is your responsibility to keep up and not hold up the rest of the Rpers. I will work with you, just let me know what's going on
  • Spots are not first come first serve
    • Gm will review completed CS first
    • Gm will review previous Rp's and posting habits
    • Gm will then notify you if you are approved
    • Character deaths will happen, no one is safe - it will be randomized and you will be notified when your death approaches. (This does not mean you are out of the RP, it will mean however you need to make a new character should you wish to continue - I recommend having Back Up Characters Ready)
    • I am looking for long term highly dedicated Rpers. This RP is a sequel to Abandoned Hope, which finished after eight months.
  • Once Cs's are approved, relation sheet will go up and must be completed and added to CS
  • Rules and Cs sheet will be added to and changed as need be depending on problems or points that come up.
  • Under Extras in your CS please post a link to a post you have done in the past to show you have read the rules. If You submit a CS without this it may be declined.

Character Sheet

Below is the character sheet required for the RP. Those of you from Abandoned Hope will notice that I've been generous when it comes to the amount of skills you can have. Please do not take advantage of this, and keep things realistic. The increased number of skills is designed to accommodate for knowledge gained since the Altsoba massacre, in order to prepare you for dealing with necromantics. Any deviances you have will also take up a skill slot, so please keep that in mind.

If you participated in Abandoned Hope, you'll be granted a reward for your character sheet upon joining. This might be a connection to an NPC, a clue, an extra skill, etc... I'll be rolling a dice to determine what happens there. Characters who were used in Abandoned Hope will need to keep all skills they had there, but there should be plenty of room for you to expand their skills as well ^_~

Keep this realistic, folks! Necromantics can be played only by those already playing a human character in the RP, with the exception of characters used in Abandoned Hope. For example, you wanna play a vampire? Cool. That can be your second character.





Relation/Clue Sheet

Throughout the RP, you are expected to record clues you find here. There are several mysteries to unravel in Coventry. If you believe you have solved one of the mysteries of Coventry, send a PM to the GM! If correct, you'll receive some sort of in-game reward. This can be a bonus skill, a helpful clue for the next mystery, a get-out-of-death free card...

You also will record your thoughts and opinions on other characters. To start the RP, you are required to have one relation to start with. If you're having trouble coming up with one, let me know and I can sort it out for you. There'll be periodic moments throughout the RP where I ask that you update these.

Quick Note

This RP is inspired by Rocky Horror Picture Show, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, American Horror Story, Supernatural, and Good Omens. However, any lore mentioned in the RP is the lore that exists. If you're interested as to how something might fit in, great. Send me a PM. But do not decide for yourself that it has to exist and add it in.

Also, this disclaimer was on Abandoned Hope. While the apocalypse is the Judeo-Christian one, I myself am an atheist. So, please be aware that things will likely not be biblically correct.
