So, if you don’t know, around mid 2021 on Netflix there was an anime called Yasuke, about the only known black samurai and long story short, complete dogshit. Was definitely rushed as you don’t get any time to understand or appreciate the world, story, or characters because what should have easily been 12 episodes was condensed into 3 episodes, which was half the season. Overall just a complete mess, but I’ve been thinking about remaking the story from scratch and trying to make some of the magical elements be introduced in a more clear way. Pretty much the story would go as follows:

We’re introduced to Yasuke, on a slave trader ship. Yasuke is very clearly bigger than the others on the ship, very tall and muscular with scars going down his arms and chest. The boat comes to a stop, as they realize that they have came to their destination. As Yasuke steps into the light, he tries to appreciate his surroundings, but he is quickly pulled forward. He looks around, trying to see if anyone amongst them tries to speak, but no one dares to. The only ones who speak are the people lined up to see them, either mocking them or terrified. Yasuke then gets put up on a stage with two others, and a man (the owner of the slave trade) advertises them to the people, eventually an offer is made for Yasuke by a businessman (who we cannot see) We then cut to Yasuke having that 9-5 look, as he waits for children to come by and to show them the toys him and the businessman have. Yasuke asks the businessman, “why are we out here so early, there will be no children awake at this time” The buissness owner in reply punches him in the gut and tells him, “don’t question my methods slave, even if I explained it you you still wouldn’t get it” he laughs historically after that. Yasuke, not on the floor but still in immense pain holding his stomach, let’s out a grown. The bm says to this in reply “oh get up, your lucky I don’t work you as hard as some of the others of your kind.” Yasuke hears a women yell that someone stole her money, and looks to see a man mid 20s sprinting his direction. In fact, he’s close to where their shop is placed, and he thinks it would be great if someone would stick their foot out to trip him. So then he sticks his foot out, and the man goes flying to the ground. He then gets up and tells Yasuke “oh so the slave wants to play hero huh?” And pulls out a knife. Yasuke then proceeds to get into a fighting stance, and to spare you the details, kicks his ass. After which he returns the money. Which the bm doesn’t like, telling Yasuke he should have kept it. Yasuke didn’t think much of this altercation, however a man with two men standing behind him approaches the cart. The man in front asks bm “excuse me sir, but how much for the slave?” Bm, not looking says at first he isn’t for sale, but then all of the sudden he gets extremely nervous, Yasuke with his limited knowledge of Japanese can only understand that this person is someone important. The bm gladly sells Yasuke. The man in front tells Yasuke “come we must clean you” On the way to the bath house, The man asks Yasuke if he knows who he is, and Yasuke replies with no. The man asks Yasuke what his name is then, to start this introduction, to which he replies in his original African name (Which I definitely remember and didn’t forget to look up before making this) The man, is confused as he has never heard a name like that before, so he asks Yasuke if he was willing to take up a new name. Yasuke, not really knowing what he’s getting into, replies with a yes, and so the man gives him the name Yasuke. The man then introduced himself as the shogun, and asks Yasuke to refer to him as Lord Shogun, which Yasuke accepts. When they get into the bath house, they notice that the black on Yasuke’s skin isn’t coming off. The shogun asks Yasuke “Tell me Yasuke, did you die your skin black” Yasuke replies with no and explains that he was born with black skin. The Shogun is fascinated with this, and wants to learn about Yauske more. He asks Yasuke what he did before reaching this land, which Yasuke responds with that he was a hunter. The Shogun asks him “Then Yasuke, how would you like to be a warrior?”

Sorry that this is so short, but I’m doing this in only one sitting and I genuinely feel like this story could take me somewhere, so I don’t want to reveal anything else. Also sorry for not doing a lot of quotes, I just finished like 5 missing assignments lol. Anyways please tell men if you think it’s good so far!
