I couldn't figure out how to insert photos on the thing, but I did paint Foxtail and Snowstep, and I did a sketch of Honeykit that I'm going to lineart and paint soon, so I'm going to try and put that in a photo album or something.

Also, here's an interesting fact that no one needed to know: If science matters at all in this world, calicos and tortoiseshells will almost never have male kittens. the statistics are 1 in 3000. I'm pretty sure Foxtail qualifies as some crazy reverse calico, but I'm also pretty sure she'll never have a mate, so it's completely irrelevant for her. In the same vein, all calicos and tortoiseshells are female. However, the myth that all orange cats/tabbies are male is inaccurate, only 3 in 4 tabbies are male.

We are not starting until Myke has a plot. It may be slow going, but that's just the way it's gonna be. I know it's hard to wait, trust me. Just be patient, and it'll start eventually. We don't have nearly enough characters to start anything anyway, so you should make more as you wait.

Ok, but I don't nessacarily want to handle that many characters and it might be easier to have a bunch of NPCs than the wait on humans to post replies. And the more characters there are, the harder it will be to make a plot that includes everyone. And what if in the wait people drop out because other stuff is going on and this isn't doing anything?

Then they'll drop out. Like I said, this isn't starting until there is a plot, and if that takes a few months, then unfortunately that's what it takes. It's best not to rush things, as you said stuff happens. If you don't want to character dump, that's fine. But as for NPC characters, that's...not a thing in writing? I mean every character, whether they have bit parts or not, are going to have a human controling them, even for one or two bit parts.

NPCs are a thing? They're just created by whoever created the world with some guidelines and family connected and anyone can use them. If someone misuses them then it just gets deleted by the creator. It makes things so much faster if you don't have to wait on someone for everything. that way, if you just need a quick character interaction, you check the parameters of the NPC and use them according to their motivation and personality for a quick scene. For (a completely made up) example:

Heather is my character. I am anticipating a pretty long post about her being late to class. The teacher is an NPC. I have a lot of ideas in my head at the moment that I don't want to lose. Heather has to encounter the teacher midway through the post to be reprimanded, as I and the creator have previously discussed. The creator mentioned they will be gone for a week or so. Jean is their character. I can either break up my thoughts and wait a week for the creator to have NPC teacher say a few sentances, losing most of my ideas, or:

"Heather ran into class, wincing because she knew she was late, and snuck into a seat behind Jean. Mrs. Hoppkins spotted her. 'Heather! You're late again! Detention!'
'Yes Mrs. Hawkins.' "

Then I would skip to detention. I wouldn't have Heather talk to Jean, because Jean isn't an NPC. But using the teacher for 3 sentances, 2 of which were one word, I was able to write my entire post uninterupted, with the creators blessing since we already discussed that she would get dentention. At most, the only change would have been phrasing if I had waited.

Do we use different play-by-post rules? Also, are you a co-gm or something?

Ok. What I'm saying about player count is, why not just make a quick list of NPCs and then make up a plot? I don't see why it has to take months.

Because that's not how this particular RP works, I supose. Myke has a plan for their rps, and that's the path of this one they chose to format. The length of time it takes is regrettable...but when life happens or muse eludes you, you can't help gaps in the planning process. Writers block is also a thing.

Myself, I do enjoy a good quick, jump right in and let stuff flow rp, but that's not the direction this one is going, clearly.

The best thing to do is just wait. It'll happen when it happens. there's no rush.

Ok. What about player count though?
And I'm going to keep writing about the characters on a doc or something. If I let a character sit I lose interest. Many a D&D character has died to this. I might still lose interest anyway, but it makes it less likly. Honeykit stands a better chance. I like playing kids. Depressed traumatized sad adults, which I lean toward creating, are too much like my real life, and also too restrictive.

Also, I'm having an issue with Snowstep. Her mother and her mentor were zapped out of existance.

Wait, nevermind. I mistook Acorntail for the medicine cat from her home colony and I think I saw some other cat who I mistook for the leader of her home colony. Though I'm going to make some placemarker NPCs to have the stats of my characters relations written somewhere. I'll delete them if it's a problem.

Heads up, a couple of the npcs I'm making because their connected to my characters have apprentices that I didn't name. If you have an apprentice and want Cloudfur, Crimsonpelt, or Snakepool for a mentor, let me know and I'll stick your name in. in the near future, Leafsong will also be wanting an apprentice.

Foxes do have a ranking system just like the cats do. It's

Baby foxes are called kit and have kit at the end of their name like cats. Pup is used for trainees like paw is used, since they're not a kit anymore, but not an adult yet. All other names work like in Warriors. Leaders have spirit at the end of their name, their star. Their afterlife is called SpiritPack.

Wolves have your standard wolf-based ranking system. However, wolves don't get their full name until they finished their training. So they'll have a single name up until they get their suffix.
