Intergalatic, Multidimensional, Gladiator Arena

We know! We know. The name doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. To be fair, the emperor who started this arena didn't have the most creative mind. What he did have, however, was a bloodlust that couldn't be sated. After a bloody world war that resulted in him becoming emperor of everything, he decided to turn his eyes away from his own people and to the people outside his world to feed that ravaging hunger within him. He had the means and the technology to do it! Unfortunately for you, you were picked to be one of the targets to fight in this grand arena! Welcome, to your demise!

Rules of the game:

  • You don't need to apply with your character.
This is just a jump-in thread. You are welcome to not even make a character sheet if you don't want to, though I will be providing a template for you if you choose to. Any race or creature type is allowed as long as they can communicate in some way, shape, or form. Just post your characters into the character tab and away you go! Bring in those characters that you made for rps that never took off or ones you made and were hoping to find an rp for! Now's your chance! If you want, you can copy and paste a sheet into the character tab. I'm fine with that. Just explain how they ended up at the arena.
  • This is an arena battle rp. No powerplaying or godmodding!
I think this one is pretty straight forward. I'm posting this in advanced because I want people to have fun but I also want people to play without worrying about whether or not the person they're going to be "fighting" is going to play fair or not. I think in advanced we all have enough experience to know how NOT to fight. Make your character have flaws! Have ways that other characters can dodge and survive powerful hits! This is not an anime with your character as the main character! Plus, what's the fun of having such amazing powers with no drawbacks! I will, however, be making a god like character who is the host to the whole arena. If I see any godmodding or powerplaying going on, I will bring him in to bring the fight to a nice swift end. You get one chance. If you are not playing fair, I'll call you out on it and give you that ONE chance. If you continue to not play fair, the host will atomize you and move onto the next battle. "It's no fun if the battle isn't fair. Pity."
  • Romance and Rivalries!
Seeing as how you can play essentially whatever you want; you can, obviously, rp out relationships and the like! After all, you were all ripped from your homes and planes of reality to be thrust into a giant battle arena. There are gonna be a lot of confused feelings and conflict coming from it. Not to mention, you might have to share a room with the person you just beat to a bloody pulp. This is essentially a prison. None of the authority cares about how you are treated. You are just meat to the grinder. You get three meals a day and there is a bathroom at the end of the hall. You are free to roam in the bowels of the arena when not battling but there is no way out. As far as you can tell, it's just a revolving circle that never ends. Do keep your private actions private though. Fade to black, skip, whatever you need. Just keep it out of the thread. I'm sure we're going to be pushing the boundaries with the battles to begin with. We don't need to give the mods a reason to step in.
  • Picking your opponents!
We have two options for this. You can plan ahead in the OOC tab and find someone to fight or you can start your fight in the arena and someone can pick it up. Only one fight at a time, guys! Otherwise, how else will the audience be able to fully enjoy it! In the meantime, your character can be watching the fight, roaming the bowels of the colosseum, or interacting with other fighters. If no one picks up your fight for a bit, I'll throw an NPC in and we can work it out from there. If an opponent doesn't reply for a long while and seems to have gone MIA, I'll pick up the fight as that character and bring it to an end. Then if the owner of that character does come back, we'll say something along the lines of "Your character was resting and healing from the intense battle and has been in their holding cell the whole time!" Whatever we need to keep things going! I request that yall try and be active but I understand that life sometimes gets in the way! Just know, if you do disappear on us, you're losing the fight! Or if you're mid conversation with someone, suddenly your character has severe brain fog, from all the head trauma I'm sure everyone will encounter at one point or another, and forgot what they were doing and just go to their cell.
  • Let's make your replies worth it!
This is advanced! Let's get those brain juices flowing and throw out some replies that really mean something! Now, this is a battle arena and I don't expect people to post pages of work to explain that they dodged a fist to only fire a lightening bolt at the enemy. I get it! We don't need all our replies to be long! But quality over quantity people! I wanna see some good rping out there! Make each other want to interact and play! We should all know how to do it here in this section of RPG.
  • I'll add rules as they come up!
I can't think of any more rules at the moment but I'll be adding them if I need to. I'm sure these basic rules will cover most things though. Have fun and go fight each other, yeah?!

The Arena

The Arena is an ever changing colosseum that can morph and shape itself to whoever is currently within it. If your character requires a particular atmosphere or environment to survive, the colosseum can provide it! A merkin may find themselves constantly swimming within a giant bubble that allows them to move around freely within the bowels of the arena boundaries. After all, if participants are dead just moments after arrival, how much fun would that be?

Upon entering the battle area, one will find an orb just outside the entrance door that you can touch. By touching the orb, you can mentally provide requisites for how you would like the arena to be shaped. The arena would then change the battle area to better suite those who are fighting, blending the two requirements from both combatants so the staging area is as fair as it possibly could be.

The colosseum itself is a multistory structure with a feeding area that takes up the whole bottom floor. The floor just above it are practice areas that allow people to go and practice with the provided weapons and armor. Again, the arena provides anything you could need so if you require a specific type of weapon or armor, you can find it there. The other seven floors are holding cells for the gladiators. They are your basic 6x8 foot cells with two cots hanging from the walls. Each cell only has two people in it. There are larger cells towards the top of the floors for those people and creatures that are just too large for the standard sized cells.

Upon arrival, you are greeted by the host. You will find that you also now have an implant within your wrist that allows you to communicate properly with the arena. You cannot remove this implant. Many have tried, all have failed. It goes, typically, unnoticed but from time to time it can get a bit itchy when your communicating with the colosseum for long periods of time, much like when you first arrive.

"Welcome to the arena! Do try to survive, will you."

Your host with the most!

Jack! The devourer of souls!

Having found himself in an empty world by his own hand, Jack was growing quite bored with himself and his unholy, undead creations! It wasn't until that wonderful day where he was summoned by the arena that he found the joy of bloodshed once more! Upon the mass slaughter and consumption of opponents, the emperor pulled Jack out of the lineup. After all, if there was no real chance of winning, what was the fun? People were growing bored with Jack's battles and the emperor felt he had to do something about it. He eventually settled on making a deal with Jack. With the promise of the dead gladiator souls for his consumption and almost absolute power over those who come and go in the arena, Jack was presented with the position of host. He accepted quickly and became a family name among the people of the empire. His undead ghouls, typically in the form of sheeted cat ghost, can be seen roaming the halls of the arena and he personally makes sure to greet each and every new warrior that is summoned to the arena.
