Lia and Alex successfully snatched a table in the cafeteria among the busy crowd.
Lia tapped Alex's hand. "What are you trying to do?"
"What?" Alex questioned back.
"You are planning something, aren't you?" Lia went straight to the point.
"Pul-lease! Is that the way to treat your bestie? By accusing her?" Alex waved her off, her eyes scanning for the boys.
"I know you are up to something. I just don't know what it is." Lia stared at Alex like a predator staring at its prey.
"Hey! They are coming! Over here!" Alex waved cheerfully, when she found the boys searching for them holding bags of Starbucks food. "Isn't it great to have people do chores for you?" Alex whispered at Lia dreamily.

Mal and Kaiden peeked over the crowd and saw Alex waving them down.
"I guess we're gonna be with the ladies after all..." said Mal in a pleasant tone.
Kaiden huffed and pulled him to the table. "Here." He handed Lia and Alex their coffee and muffins.
Mal rested his chin on his hands and purred contently.
"Mal, stop," said Kaiden.
He was replied by a firm sticking out of Mal's tongue.

"Thank you!" Alex replied sweetly and almost immediately gulped down the drink. "I'm totally addicted to caffeine," she said, in case anyone would like to know.
Lia took her drink, not feeling quite comfortable. She did not hate the Cherwa, but still, they are her family's nemesis.
Alex giggled when Mal purred.
"Hey, we should totally do this earlier, we didn't get to know each other before! I don't think I have introduced myself yet, I'm Alex and she's my best girl friend, Lia." Alex smiled as she eyed the two boys.

Mal grinned. "My name is Mal and this grumpy Cherwa is Kaiden." He placed a hand on Kaiden's shoulder who was trying to enjoy his iced coffee.
"So, your name is Alex?" purred Mal. "Very nice. And... uh, Lia, is it?" He looked at Lia. "Aren't you in Kaiden's science class?"
Kaiden groaned.

Lia looked up from her drink abruptly when she heard her name was mentioned.
Lia nodded. "Yeah, we are, but we don't know each other that much." She took a quick peek at Kaiden to see his response.
They hadn't spoke to each other before but Lia always noticed him in class. She felt a certain affinity towards Kaiden since they had similar family history although they were both from rival families.

Kaiden glanced up at Lia for a moment before darting his eyes away.
I shouldn't be not hating her but...
He looked back up a Lia. He never looked at her eye to eye before.
She does have nice eyes.
"You ok?" asked Mal.
"Yeah, I'm fine," he said quickly before finishing his iced coffee.

Lia awkwardly ate a muffin when she noticed him glancing at her. She did nothing wrong, she was just telling the truth...
Alex saw the eye interaction between them and grinned. This is going to be fun...
"Hey, you know, my birthday party is on this Saturday, you want to come?" Alex looked at Mal and Kaiden.
Lia glared at Alex. She knew she was up to something...

"I don't think-"
Mal interrupted Kaiden and gave Alex a huge smile. "Sure! We'd love to come!"
"I hate you so much right now..." growled Kaiden.

"Cool! I assure you, it will be fun." Alex glanced at Kaiden when she spoke. Nevertheless, she knew Mal would take Kaiden to her party at all costs. Just an instinct she had.
"It would be nice though if you guys can come earlier to help set up. My mum cooks good food!" Alex winked at no one at particular, as she devoured her muffin. Lia sighed. Alex was kind of bossy at times.

"We won't have time to-"
Mal covered Kaiden's mouth. "Absolutely! We love to help out for parties!"
Kaiden gave Mal a death glare.
"My friend Francis would also come if we bring him along. The more the merrier, eh?"
He still kept the smile on his face despite the fact that Kaiden rolled his eyes.
Kaiden never had a problem letting Francis tag along until he considered him a bit of a "man whore" and womanizer. All Francis wanted after turning sixteen was to get with any girl he could get with and flirt with every girl he laid eyes on. At least Mal gave any girl he was interested in some distance if needed. Not Francis; he would be all up in their space and tell them to call him Don Juan. So no one in the school called him by his real name, just Don Juan. And that always annoyed Kaiden.

"Sure! I'll give you my address." Alex fumbled for a paper in her bag, and jotted down the address. "I hope you know the way, my neighborhood is huge!" And that wasn't a bluff. Alex lived in mansion in a prestigious neighborhood. The problem here wasn't the mansion, but the neighborhood - her neighborhood was practically created so that people would get lost in it. That was what Lia thought anyway.
As if Alex read Lia's mind, she chattered, "Don't be like this girl here, she'd actually lost her way!" Lia hit her friend's arm. That was so embarrassing!

"Oh, I'm sure we'll find our way. Francis has been there before." He pretended to realize something." Shoot, I meant Don Juan."
Kaiden scoffed. "He doesn't need to come..."
"I don't want him feeling left out."

"Don Juan?" Alex muttered. It sounds familiar though... Then something clicked. "Don Juan! You're bringing him?" Alex had a friend who dated Don Juan before, and according to her, it did not end well.
"I can't wait to meet him!" Alex cooed, suddenly realizing that she was going to have the best birthday party ever! Lia slammed her forehead. Her brother was going to be at the party as well, and she knew how much Brandon hated the Cherwas, particularly Kaiden's family. It was going to be a disaster.

Kaiden groaned as he trailed behind Mal and Francis (oh I mean Don Juan)

A suave looking Cherwa smoothed out his greased black hair and swayed his long short haired black tail. He turned around and flashed Kaiden a grin. "Hurry up, Kaiden," he said. "The party isn't going to set itself up."
"Francis..."
"Correction: Don Juan"
"Whatever."
Mal slowed down to let Kaiden catch up. "C'mon I want to relax from all the stress from school."
"Since when do you have stress?" teased Francis. "I haven't felt stress for a while."
"Maybe because you let some girl relieve it for you," sneered Kaiden.
Francis put a hand over his heart dramatically." You hurt me, kind sir!"
"Don't play cute with me."

"Hmm why are the boys not here yet?" Alex scrolled through her contacts in her phone until she halted. "Sh*t, I forgot to ask for their number."
Lia shook her head as Alex gave herself a face-palm. Knowing her, she would work those boys like slaves.
"Anyway, where is-" Alex was interrupted when a voice came from the door. "Aleeex!! Have you started with the decorations yet?"
Alex's cousin, Carrie walked into the house with some banners. She was also helping out with the party.
"Gosh! Why does it seem I'm doing everything for my own party?" Alex grumbled as she walked up and down the hall. Everything was still very empty - the set up was not even near finish yet.
"Calm down, you are too stressed out." Lia looked up at her over dramatic best friend as she finished the last stroke on a star she was drawing.

Mal peeked over Francis and pointed at one of the houses. "Let's try that house over there."
"Hang on," said Francis, looking over at the house that Mal was pointing at. "That should be it."
"You sure?"
"Yeah, I'm sure. Used to come over here when I wanted to bed someone."
"Man whore..." growled Kaiden.
"What? You've never done it?"
"That's none of your damn business!" Kaiden's cheeks began to redden.
"Let's just go over there and see if it's the house."
Mal pulled Kaiden up to stay with him and Francis as they walked to the back of the house.
"Alex!" called Mal. "You there?"

Alex and Carrie were about done hanging the banners along the ceiling, when Lia heard someone calling Alex.
"I'll take them." Lia volunteered, and scooted off to the back. She opened the back door to let them in.
Lia spotted an unfamiliar boy, and nodded at him. "Are you Francis? Hi, I'm Lia. Alex is a bit busy."
Lia led them to the hall where Alex's birthday party would be held. It was big enough to contain a hundred people.
Alex waved at them as she climbed down the ladder, the banner nicely in place. Carrie just smiled at the boys. She was a bit shy.

Francis only nodded when Lia asked who he was. Don Juan he wanted to tell her but he shrugged it off.
"You can have Lia," he whispered to Kaiden. "I'm gonna try to get with Alex or that other girl."
"Dude, I don't like her like that," Kaiden whispered back.
"Liar..."
Mal only ignored their conversation and walked up to Alex. "Hey," he said pleasantly.

Alex beamed at Mal and greeted the others. "Hi! Thanks for coming. Everything is still not in place so I really need your help here. By the way, help yourselves with the snacks over there if you want." She pointed at the boxes filled with snacks.
Carrie nudged Lia and whispered, "Hey, introduce them to me."
"Well, Carrie, meet Kaiden, Mal and Francis, and guys, this is Carrie, Alex's cousin." Lia introduced them briefly.
Just then, one side of the banner fell. Alex sighed.
"Can one of you help out with this banner here? It keeps falling down and I don't know why." Alex shrugged, staring at the banner.

The boys just nodded at Carrie and smiled.
Mal looked at the side of the banner that fell. "Sure! I've hung lots of banners!"
Francis stood there for a moment before walking over to help with the banner.
Kaiden looked at Lia for a moment and walked to the other side of the room.
