“So, you’ll remember my rule won’t you, Fredrick?” Charles asked the young boy, the same way he asked all new children. His own speech bored him, but he had to put up with it, he had to put up with this place. He needed it.

He sent the young teen to go and find his room with Sister Mary Robert and then went to the Mother Superior’s room. Andrea was her real name, but everyone was expected to call her Mother. It never made sense to him but who was he to question the way religion worked? He was just glad he had her to run the place while we was gone.

Charles knocked on the door and waited for her to open it. “You’re going away again aren’t you?” she asked as soon as she saw him. Damn, how did that woman always know these things?

“Yes” he replied. “I’ll be gone for a week or so. Please would you look after all of the children?”

“As always” was her simple answer.

Evangeline

Evangeline rolled over and yawned, wishing she could block out the noise of the breakfast bell ringing. 7:30am is far too early to have breakfast she decided, though her stomach disagreed as it rumbled loudly at her. The bell had stopped and she decided to just close her eyes for a few more moments...

“Evangeline!” a voice shouted at her. “Get out of bed right away, young lady” Uh oh, she had fallen back asleep. Sister Mary Lawrence was stood in the doorway and had turned the light on. Eva jumped out of bed quickly grabbed her dressing gown and slippers and started to make her way down to the dining room with Sister Mary Lawrence following close behind.

“Sorry, Sister” Eva said quietly as she kept her head down. She hating being in trouble. She arrived to breakfast late and most of the kids and staff were already nearly finished. Eva sat in the only empty seat available and grabbed a slice of cold toast, today was not going to be a good day, she could tell that much already.

Rascal sat in his room wide awake, He had heard the bell from breakfast but had no intention of going downstairs when the new boy could be there. After a few minutes Rascal heard a knock on his door, which was to be expected, Sister Mary Eunice always came to check up on him when someone new was hanging around. He replied with a quiet hello and Sister Mary Eunice entered his room.
"Rascal, the boy is in his room eating please do come down to breakdast." Sister Eunice smiled at him, he liked her she was understanding and didn't push him too hard. He figured that if the boy had already got his food it would take him a while to eat so he might as well risk it and go down. He nodded to the sister and followed her back downstairs. He was surprised to find Eva still sitting at the table and just waved an awkward hello and sat a few inch's away while Sister prepared him some food.

The sound of the bell was only followed by a groan from a certain raven haired teen, did they have to do that so bloody early? Or had they never heard of the words 'getting more sleep', it was a Sunday dammit! Was there no one who wanted to sleep more around here apart from him? This lot were always so quick to do as they were told, and with it being still the weekend. Shin really couldn't be bothered to even move. He was far too tired from all the happenings yesterday, as well as that little word that someone new was coming to live around here. Like he really cared. It wasn't too long before he heard a fist slamming on her door hard, forcing him to turn his head. No longer buried into his own pillow, soon hearing a female voice behind the door, one that didn't sound happy at all. "Shin, get out here right now. I won't ask again young man." Shin didn't need to be a genius to work out who was speaking in an annoyed tone towards him, Sister Mary Lawrence of course. Who else bugged him at seven thirty in the morning. "Fuzakeruna!" He called back in an irritated tone, it was too early and therefore not speaking in English was normal for him.

A few moments of waiting there was another knock, the young male now slightly more awake. He knew if he didn't move, that woman would come in, and he didn't want a repeat of last week. No thank you. "Alright alright, I'm comin'." Shin spoke, the hint of an accent behind his words. The elder male didn't take long to become dressed for the day, having washed just before hand. In between then already hearing others rushing downstairs, floorboards creaking slightly under the increased weight. Running a hand through his hair once heading out, firmly locking the door shut behind him. He'd found others trying to sneak in there before after all, before following most others downstairs. It was only around ten minutes later did one of a few familiar faces make her own little way downstairs, only causing a small chuckle to escape the young male. She'd slept in again then, like most of the long time stayers here, no one wanted to get up. Gazing around while eating as he normally did, comfortably settled at the far end of the room, giving Shin a good view of all the comings and goings. Well.. he had to entertain himself somehow so early in the morning, right?

Axle sat away from the others eating an omelet, looking through his reading glasses at an astrology book, he looked up when ever someone entered or left the room, as he finished his omelet he thought to himself about space and what not. Then he closed his book leaned back 'Now to wait for us to be herded out of here like the sheep that they're trying to make us.' he thought as he put his hand on his head and exhaled.

She was munching miserably on her toast when the new boy gave Evangeline the rest of his breakfast and left before she could thank him or even ask his name. She tucked in straight away, not minding the look Sister Mary Lawrence gave her. Eva was surprised when Rascal entered the dining room even later than she had, sat near her and gave a small wave. “Don’t worry I ignored the bell too” she told him. “I only just got here before you! My foods only half finished because I was only allowed toast but the new boy gave me his food.”

She wolfed down half of it and then offered the rest to Rascal, knowing he’d probably get cold toast as well. “I’ll see you later!” she said, not waiting to see if he wanted the food as she jumped up from the table. She wanted to go and get a shower and get dressed. She couldn’t be bothered with lessons, but weekends were pretty boring so she decided to go and meet the new boy, seeing as they would be like family from now on. No one ever really got adopted from this place, they just got older and then one day they were old enough to leave. Eva liked it that way.

Rascal nodded to Eva as she spoke and took her food as soon as she left, Eva was an interesting person and it intrigued him slightly. After scoffing his toast he considered what he should do today, he had a therapy session later in the day but he was free till then as always. He was craving a smoke so he stood and strolled out into the back garden. He wasn't supposed to smoke but the sister's let him off as long as they didn't actually seem him, Mother was a little stricter but as long as he avoided her and never mentioned anything in front of her she didn't question it.
He sat on the ground an rolled a cig then curled up slightly and made smoke rings in the air. He hoped no one would turn up back here but it was Sunday so it wasn't unlikely, he would normally skip part of a lesson to smoke or do whatever he wasn't very focused on studies, he would be dead some day soon, at least that's what he wished for on every single birthday

Darren sat in the place that had become his in his short interment. Slowly consuming the filth they had been served, he pondered his lot in life. His ultimate goal of finding and eviscerating the murderer of his parents complete, he found resolve within himself to become the well-behaved automaton that he was expected to be, waking and attending breakfast without the sisters needing to wake him, maintaining an outwardly polite demeanor, and resisting the subtle blood-lust he continued to feel, even after becoming intimately familiar with the nature of human entrails. Perhaps a new motivation, a new cause to strive for would come to him, but until then, he would neither seek one out nor end his life. Occasionally, a late riser would approach him and request that he provide them with slop beyond a single slice of toast. All were met with a wall of silence, their pleas insignificant to someone who felt no sympathy towards the careless.

Evelyn was sitting in the comfort of her own room, locks of blonde hair hanging limply around her abnormally skinny body. She clutched the key to her room tightly in her hand but... she opened her hand. It wasn't there.
Panic surged through her like lightning as she heard the familiar clicking of her door being unlocked. Sister Mary Lawrence stormed in. "Did you not hear the bell?!" She said, anger thick in her tone. But Evelyn masked her feelings behind an emotionless expression. Really, she was petrified. "Miss Evergreen, are you even listening?! You haven't had food for the whole week you've been here! The other orphans don't even know you EXIST!" Her temper was rising. Evelyn stayed still, her body stiff, refusing to move.
"I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU! GET DOWNSTAIRS!" She grabbed Evelyn's arm and dragged her to the dining-table, placing her next to a decent-looking boy, who looked as if he was a million miles away. She hoped he hadn't seen her.

Rascal continued smoking the world away as a bell rang calling the orphanage to a meeting, He groaned knowing this would mean being around other people.
He was planning on ignoring it when one of the sisters came and grabbed his shoulder.
"Come on, You heard the bell" She laughed and Rascal got rid of his cigarette before following her to the lunch room.
Almost everyone was there and Rascal hid in the corner waiting to find out what all this ruckus was about. The mother was at the front with the three sisters and everyone was whispering and waiting...

Evelyn was far in the corner, hair covering most of her face. She noticed a boy standing quite near her, hiding like her. Too bad there is only one corner she thought, This boy looks like he could hurt me... She shook the thought off, knowing she was probably wrong. She coughed slightly,from the overpowering smell of smoke, but she didn't utter a word, just in case.

Tristan didn't here the bell, but he saw shadows of people through the small keyhole. Just as he got up, Sister Mary Robert entered his room and spoke clearly. "The bell has just rung for a meeting, Tristan, you had better come quickly." He nodded and made his way down the stairs.
Sister Mary Robert joined the other Sisters at the front of the room. He listened-or rather watched- intently to the Sisters and the mother.

Darren, taking his seat in the same place he had previously vacated to take his respite, silently awaited the commencement of whatever announcement was to be made. Though the orphanage had not long been his place of residence, the few events like this one occurred at around the same time of day, when the overall schedule would be least disrupted. Wondering as to the sisters' reasoning, he looked about him in boredom. Minds more addled than his squirmed in their seats, shivered despite the temperateness of the room, and deposited themselves where they could least be seen. As more youths filed in, he perceived yet stranger feats of cowardice, some individuals taking their places in the farthest possible corners. He understood their distrust, but not their avoidance.

Rascal saw a girl he believed to be called Evelyn sitting in the corner glancing at him and heard her cough quietly. He immediately blushed realising he hadn't done anything to get rid of the tobacco smoke. He hated talking but also felt bad so he forced a smile and spoke
"Sorry... Er.. y..you know wh..what this... is..s?" He stuttered his voice rasping a little from disuse, this made him more uncomfortable and he looked to the floor while people continued settling in.

Sister Mary Lawrence left the room of children and went upstairs to the closet, she unlocked it and pulled out an envelope. Inside a set of tickets where arranged for an outing, she walked swiftly back downstairs to the room and handed the envelope to Mother

Evelyn shook her head. "No." she said simply and turned her head away a little, but not enough to seem rude. She hadn't had a conversation in years, so wasn't sure exactly how to react.

Rascal recognised Evelyn's reaction after seeing her glance away a little, both of them seemed to not know what to say but Rascal wasn't sure whether to leave it or not so he tried to spark a conversation.
"The..." He paused and looked outside "Its... urm sunny... yeah so... maybe a trip??.... do... erm you remember the last trip?"
He groaned mentally at his own patheticness and tried to keep his eyes on Evelyn rather than looking to the floor and biting his lip.
He half succeeded... He was biting his lip and looking at her neck, seemingly fascinated by it...

'Oh how awkward' He groaned to himself for a second time and waited for Mother or someone else to tell everyone what was happening

Mother glanced to the children and cleared her throat loudly, drawing the attention of a few of them before she began to speak.
"Right Right my dears listen up!"
The majority of the kids glanced to her and the quiet chatter settled down.
"As you all know, we have a new guest stay with us and as it is a wonderful morning we have decided it a good time to get you all out for some fresh air."
Most of the crowd groaned imagining it was some kind educational trip. Mother smiled slightly imagining there surprise when they hear what it really was.
"We will be heading to a..." She paused jokingly for suspense but no one seemed to take the joke "Water Park!"
She slipped the tickets out the envelope and waved them as the children began to whoop

"Remember to wear a swim suit and if you have none we have prepared a few" She resumed her normal authoritive tone and sat down while people went about there business.

Evelyn half-listened to the Mother. She heard everyone cheering, shouting about a waterpark. Water park?! She rolled her eyes to herself. "I can't believe that sh**ty 'Sister' had to force me down here. There's no escape now!" She looked up and blushed, realising she had said that aloud. She quickly glanced over to Rascal, checking if he was listening or not.
