(SS - The Promethean Outlaw - Outlaw of the Purge)
In the cold streets of New York City, a truck was speeding down with two people inside and five outside. All were wearing cloaks which boasted a circle with six arrows reaching outside of it. Behind this truck was a group of black vans as sirens were heard. One of the cloaked figures placed out his hand as fire began to swirl before shooting out a ball of flames at one of the vans. This is the year 2016, little more than century has passed since the Purge. Where all those who used magic were forced to register or become outlaws who were hunted and most likely killed. However five years ago, this city had its first battle between the combined forces of the Order and the Enforcers verses the Outlaw Resistance Group. Ever since then there has been battles between those who want magic to be control and those who wish to be free. This is where the story truly begins for the Resistance.

“Is it me or does the enemy seem particularly pissed?” One of the cloaked figure spoke in jest, his resistance name was the Phoenix. He was the one who threw the fire ball.

Another laughed as he sent one of the vans into a light post with a wall of earth, this one went by the name the Mole. “Truly, must not like the fact that we just jail broke outlaws from that bloody slaughter house they call a prison.”

The Driver was having a hard time trying not to get hit by the spells, she was called the Valkyrie. “Hey, can you focus on making sure our truck does not get hit? If we get hit now then the other group will be caught. Then who is going to explain to him that we completely failed in this?”

“Sorry. We will make sure to keep this decoy is safe.” Mole smirked a bit before making another wall to block the road.

Turning the corner, there was another resistance member on the road looking at them. Eagle got a glimpse and seemed to be more motivated. “Ok, make sure not to hit him.” He blew up one of the vans with a well-aimed shot.

Valkryie gave an annoyed moan as she moved the truck a bit. “Don’t doubt my driving, you. I would never hit him even if I intended too.” She drove past the man and winked. “Go get them.”

The man on the road began to give off a strong magical aura as he looked at the vans, his name was Icarus Merlin and I was one of the leaders of the resistance. “This should give them something to talk about.” The Vans stopped chasing the truck and surrounded me on all sides.

“Look at what we have here. It’s the man himself, Icarus Merlin.” One of the captains stepped out from the safety of the vans as everyone had powerful magic spells aimed at me. “You may think you are so smart breaking out those criminals but I will be the one who take the credit for bringing you down.”

“Well, I thought that those who have the power should use it wisely. Freeing people who were refusing to do something that’s against the very ideals this country stood for was just that.” I had my crimson eyes focused on the captains. “Today is not the day I fall but the day you suffer another defeat.”

The Major began to cast a mental spell on me. “You would think that…”

“Too slow.” Pulling out a gem in my pocket, I tossed it up in the air with a little bit of my power. The Tome took its effect as it began to become a thunderstorm with lightning hitting all over the place. “Only four people are my equals and they are vastly more experienced then you.”

After it was all over, the captain who stopped and covered his face saw that I was gone before seeing that the tome had too. “Damn those outlaws and their tomes. I want them found now.”

A man walked out from a car that just parked and spoke something in Russian before signing. “He escaped before I could fight him. Too bad, I wanted to have another battle.”

“Courtor Viktor, Sir!” The captain spoke with a red face. “Forgive me for not catching either, sir.”

Viktor gazed upon the major with displeasure. “You are forgiven for now but next time, don’t fall for that trap again.”

The captain nodded before everyone started to leave.

In a warehouse that has been renovated as a place where the homeless stayed, a truck pulled up as the resistance members got out.

“Next time, don’t make him become our way out.” Valkyrie was scolding the group as I emerged from the shadows, emitting no magical power as the hood was over my face. “Sorry for what you had to do, Boss.”

“Don’t worry, the other group got away with the outlaws and we have won another victory against the order and those enforcers. Hide the truck and rest up until our next move.” Before anyone could get in a word I went back into the shadows and reappearing in the basement of my home. Getting out of the resistance cloak, I had regular clothes on.

“You know I can’t protect you if you commit crimes like you did now.” A white haired, red eyed girl was sitting in the basement with a worried face. I knew her as one of the few good members of the Order…

“Myst…” Place a hand on her shoulder, I looked down. “… You must stop entering my home without permission. Anyway, this is going to annoy both your mother and your fiancee if they catch you with the infamous Icarus Merlin.”

In one swift move, she took out her gun and aimed it at the picture of Viktor I had in the basement. “First off, it was my mother who wishes me to marry him. I hate him. Second, you of all people know how much I hate her. Roger…”

Smiling at her, I messed up her hair which got me shot with an electric round. “Someone like you should not look so down…” Most people hated the Angel, however, Myst was one of the few who treated me mostly right. To me, she was like a younger sister, the family I never had.

Myst began to laugh a bit. “You magical idiot. Next time I won’t go so easy. Please, don’t let yourself be found out…” She was still worried about it.

I nodded to ease her worry. “It will be fine. Anyway, it will take them some time to find out where I live and who I am in the normal world. Now, let me make you some lunch before you go.” Exiting the Basement, we headed to the kitchen/dining room. See, I have three personas with each being something completely different. Icarus Merlin was the Persona I used when fighting the Enforcers. Raton the chef is the persona I use in everyday live. Then there my true persona, Roger King, a former Order scientist who became something a bit more. Only Myst and a few others know of this, those who I completely trust.

This was my life in a nutshell. Fighting the order and its enforcers, hiding as a six star chef, taking care of Myst and trying to realize my goal of destroying my enemy. I wished that that event five years ago, the Prometheus experiment never happened. However, in this strange and dangerous world, tragedy seemed to be a recurring theme. Most of us who hold power are consumed by it and end up broken monsters. No exceptions for me, especially me.
