Before anyone says anything:
-This roleplay will take place over email. I don't overly trust the guild after it died last time.
-PM me with any questions or interest. I won't be checking back to this thread.
-Seeking male- roughly still school aged

So I had this idea I really wanted to try out, but some of the finer points haven't been thought out just yet. If you come up with any questions I'm unsure of I'm happy to try and come up with something, or we can work it out together but just know that some of the finer details and 'rules' shall we say, of the world, are still in progress. That being said here's the main plot points:

-It's a slight future setting so we can have a bit of fun with the technology if we like (hover boards, flying cars and junk) (that being said this can also work in a medieval setting if you're more comfortable in that setting)

-A small percent of the population, about 10%, has been gifted with the ability to conjure magical beings called Shades, which usually take the form of animals. some use it for their profession, such as to protect someone of power, or more shadier things like intimidation to get the things they want. The creatures are usually transparent with a colour to them, but very much a solid, physical object (looks kind of like this if I had to find something (can be colours other than blue)) But this is only a small portion, the majority use them for the world's newest and most popular sport; Shadow Duels.

-Your character has the ability to create these shades, but is not very skilled at it. He aims to compete in shadow duel tournaments but has yet to win a match.

-He has been having strange dreams recently, where he is standing in front of a door, and a loud, intimidating voice has been asking him if he has the courage to unlock, what it simply refers to as, 'potential'.

-Once he does he is greeted, back in the real world, by a strange, ethereal being who refers to herself as 'Astral', and claims she has no memories other than that. She is only visible to your character, but seems strangely familiar with Shadow Duels, and has great skill in them and is able to coach your character to victory if he should listen. However he is adamant that he wants to become good on his own and often ignores her advise.

-And, of course, there is a darker plot going on beneath the surface, people started taking these duels to an extreme, playing for dangerous keeps in duels where ones very ability to create these Shades is on the line. However your character finds there is an added risk to him in particular in these kind of fights as well.
