[OOC] Heart of Tarot

PLOT

Set in a world where peace reigns--you all know the drill. A mage terrorist group known as the Haze have accumulated enough power to overthrow the King of Pantheon and put a tyrant in his place. By doing this, they are able to begin the mass destruction of the Four Countries in hopes of gaining the power of the Root, a mystical magic source that is able to grant the Holder a single wish. The Haze have only one wish-- to rebuild a world in which their leader, Ragnok, is the immortal ruler. Although there seems to be no hope, a small guild known as the Tarot have the power and the guts to stand up to the Haze.

Each member of the Tarot are selected by the ancient spirits to protect the Root and uphold the peace that had reigned for so many years. Alas, due to the Haze starting an all-out world war between the Four Countries, many of the Tarot have died or have gone missing. Being selected to be a Holder of one of the Major Arcana is a great honor, though it is a very rare gift indeed. You have been selected to join the ranks of the Tarot in hopes to reunite the Four Countries and return the world to the peace that it once had. Of course, nothing is for certain--for even the Tarot have their limits and their prides holding them back.

RULES

1. I am the God of this RP.
What I says, goes. Please do not fight with me. I will do my best to help you if you do your best to help me.
2. No "cybering". Period.
Don't even bother taking sexy times to the PMs. It's just gross. Thank you.
3. No one is all-powerful.
Your character must be challenged in order to grow. You have limits to physical and mental exertion-- so does your character.
4. Only the Major Arcana are allowed.
This means no "Page of Cups" or "King of Swords". Sorry. There's 22 characters to choose from.
5. You must be accepted to RP.
I will do my best to accept everyone, but if I find that you are not suitable, I will let you know.
6. Be active.
If you are going to be gone for long periods of time or wish to quit, then let me know. It's just plain rude to leave without notice and we're all stuck waiting for a response that won't come.
7. Participate in the action / Add to the plot!
I despise it when people expect the RP creator to make up everything to go down. No--I gave you a plot, now you make it grow through characterization, drama, and world-building.

9. Tarot is not evil.

Has the ability to memorize spells and magics that she is unfamiliar with and use it herself. Also has the ability to see into people's hearts, knowing their darkest secrets, but only with the use of her right eye, which is believed to be blind.

Personality:
Atina is a rather quiet young woman, who sits at the back of every crowd and in attempts to learn everything that she can. Because of her Tarot, she is higher on the scale when it comes to power, giving her a very distant air. She would rather not be accompanied by more than three people when it comes to a mission to stop the Haze, but since they are in such desperate times, she can no longer afford such a blessing. Not only does her Tarot give her a sense of disembodiment from the Guild, it also gives her a secretive aura that many have begun to distrust over the course of her being there. She is cunning, unafraid to prove someone to be wrong when they are, but is also quick to correct them in a calm and almost "motherly" manner. Despite her being withdrawn, she is a very kind woman with a temper that you should not provoke.

Bio:
From the moment that she was born, Atina was believed that she would be destined to do great things. Her parents, both lower members of the Tarot, knew that she would become their ticket to a higher rank in the guild itself. Although she was not immediately bound to the High Priestess card, she knew it in her heart that she had great power that lay deep within her, but she didn't want that power. She did everything in her own power to live a normal childhood, though it is well-known within the guild that the children of the members can never lead a full life outside of the guild without being dismissed from its protections. She pretended as if the magic that flowed through the guild was nothing more than a fantasy, always pushing away mentors when they asked if she were ready to be bound to a card. Whenever she would turn them down, she would oftentimes fight her way out of the guild and flee into the depths of the capitol city, Damascus. Of course, she would never get very far before one of the guild members would take her back.

On one of her runaway excursions, she managed to run into several "normal" children and pretend that she were normal for a short period. The next few days, she would sneak out in hopes of meeting up with them again, but she never did meet them. That's when the rumors began to spread about the Haze returning to Damascus in hopes of gathering children for their cause. Suddenly, it hit her that she had no power to help them, except through magic. That's when she began to train like a madwoman, studying every spell that she could get her hands on. Magic became her life.

Three years later, she was chosen by the former Emperor of the Tarot guild to take on a card. The High Priestess chose her for her courage and ability to accept that she would never fully understand the magic that she strived to learn for so long. From that day onward, she vows to set free anyone who is unable to free themselves and to trust that she has the power to save them.

Other:
She is able to trace magic back to its user, as if there is a path to them, but only with the use of her right eye--which was believed to have been blinded in an accident during an early mission.

Ability: Rafe manifests new abilities upon waking everyday, and loses those abilities upon falling asleep that same day. Somedays it's the ability to control and manipulate fire sometimes it's that throughout the day he gets a strange buzz in his ear when somebody is talking about him, sometimes he can see magical auras and the specific abilites of that person's aura, once or twice he has gained the ability to smell fear, the potential is endless, it could be anything, and it generally is, luckily Rafe generally gets an inkling of what the power is, though almost never does he completely grasp the full extent of it.

Rafe has always preffered to beg forgiveness than to ask permission, thrusting himself into most situations without planning anything, he wanders, and wonders, and has wandered, and has wondered, seeing everything as a new adventure, perhaps not always as careful or as level-headed as he should be, in fact this is the quality in him in which most find annoying, despite this there is a cleverness to Rafe that escapes most, and a more loyal, trusting friend one could not ask for, although perhaps a more discerning one. Rafe is also charismatic, curious and fun-loving, sometimes to a fault, he makes friends easily because of his charm and his happy-go-lucky attitude, but often grates on the nerves of others, for good reason, Rafe often finds himself in situations in which he has to talk or play or improvise his way out of, and not uncommonly get bailed out by his friends, though to be The Fool and never look it would be a strange thing indeed. Rafe is at any given time either the most powerful member of the Tarot, or the weakest, it is almost never somewhere in between. Though bonded to The Fool, Rafe is no idiot, he is clever and cunning and it is this that gives him his true edge, his unpredictability and his underestimatability, that he can be underestimated.

Bio:

Rafe was born to the parents of a far off nation, of a far off land where they do far off things in far off ways. Rafe left this lifestyle to wander, to be equal parts hobo and adventurer, plying his trade as Minstril, Jester, and Magician all over the world, and yet treating every day like it was his first, eventually he came to the country of Pantheon, mostly to work as court jester for previous leader, though he had also never visited this place and as such came seeking adventure, he was a decent jester, but still, not an idiot, when the old leader of the country began to lose his power, and others began to jump ship, or to join the Haze, Rafe stood by the old leader, eventually seeing his decline and fall, never once listening to, what was perhaps sound, advice that he should just leave the old man. No, when it became too dangerous to stay at the leaders seat of power, on the orders of the old patriarch of pantheon, and with the help of several friends, Rafe moved the leader's heir to a safe position, apparently Rafe was the only one to survive the trip to the safe location, Rafe will not disclose this location to anyone, maintaining his promise to his friend, confidante and employer, the old King, to keep the wherabouts of his daughter, with whom it is said Rafe had a special connection with, a secret relationship, the term courtship is even thrown around, though it was never in front of the King.

It was then that Rafe found the Tarots, and joined up, during the ceremony of binding he was chosen by the Fool, whether by some strange act of god or by the Emperor of the guild's knowledge, Rafe will probably never know. He provides good intel for the guild, his ability to make friends having lead to him to have many contacts over the years, as well he often provides simple answers to hard questions, as well as a variety of other uses.

Other:

Rafe also has the natural ability to greatly enhance the powers of others, just being in his presence greatly increases the magical power and ability of all around him, both for his allies and his enemies. Rafe is also an accomplished musician, able to play almost any instrument should he pick up. Rafe Is generally accompanied by a pure white wolf named Lupa, Lupa acts as guardian, confidante, and level headed advisor of Rafe's, often keeping him out of trouble as well as occasionally giving him a nudge in the direction of things that'll be good, or in the way of things that'll cause Rafe to learn an important lesson, and in turn Rafe is deadly loyal to the mutt, treating her as a person, giving her her own bed next to Rafe's, sharing meals with the dog, making sure nobody kicks her, etc. Lastly, Rafe is extremely lucky, having survived many pitfalls and otherwise unwise actions in his life.

Alright, so you are saying that each day he has a new ability? Does this ability stay with him, or does it fade with the next day?
Also, I do like where you are taking this (already) with knowing where the princess is. :)

Thanks, and yeah, they fade by the next day, wouldn't be fair otherwise.

Well, not fade so much as just stop when he falls asleep and are renewed as something different by the time he awakes, creating a new adventure to be had, and new lessons and skills to be learned.

Hi Scarlet, this RP looks pretty good :)
Name: Kryon
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Tarot: Strenght
Ability: His amazing willpower will make him extremely resilient physically as well as mentally. He is a protector, defending his friends in needs to the last breath.
Appearance: He has dark, straight hair and brown eyes with a hint of green.

Bio: Kryon has always been taking hits for others. When he was a boy, he lived with many other children. It wasn't a nice home though, it was a work camp, they took hime there when his parents died at the hands of the Haze. Some days he had to clean the whole house, some days he had to feed the animals, he occasionally even had to go to the mines and get into small holes the adults couldn't. The boys went to bed hungry most if not all days, so they would steal a bit from the kitchens. The first time someone found out about the thefts, the boys were rallied into the canteen and the master of the camp told everyone that if the guilty won't come forward, no one would get any more food. In fact, they didn't that day. The next day, Kryon took a step forward even though he had nothing to do with that specific theft, took all the blame. He was beaten and not given any food for two more days.
The next time this happened, he took the blame immediately the first day so others wouldn't be hungry. And then again, and again. Some of the boys were taking advantage of Kryon's nature and stole every time the kitchens were not guarded too much. After about the eighth time, the camp master decided to kill Kryon and asked one of the new hunters to take him into a forest and kill him. The boys were stunned but Kryon wouldn't beg, he couldn't. The hunter took him in the woods and spoke to him "Don't be afraid boy, I won't hurt you. I'm only in that work camp to end it. Now, take this water and some food and find somewhere to live, maybe you'll find a nicer family. I promise you I will get every single boy out of that camp. Remember this, always fight for the good, not yourself. You showed great acts of courage an self-sacrifice, don't loose these virtues"
Having said that, the mysterious hunter headed back to the camp. At the time, Kryon was 17. He went to the only place he thought of going, back home, where, hidden in a chest he found the parts of his father's armour, made out of white steel, his shield, and his two swords. Memories flooded back and from then on he uses this armour to defend, not himself, but the good. Along his journeys he met members of the Tarot guild, which he later joined.
Other: His swords and shield have a name. Resilience the winged shield; Fate, the Logsword and Purity the one-hander. He likes using auras and melee fighting.

So I just noticed that as it stands our character's names, as they are displayed under the taken tarot holders tab, spells the work ark, and I thought that was cool, cuz there is no way anyone could have planned that.........right?
