Hi everyone! So I started this as an interest check because it's not a forum game, although we do adhere to the same Casual RP standards set by RPG. I'm actually not sure if interest-checking for this kind of thing is allowed or if it belongs here, so feel free to tell me if I'm intruding. With that said, me and a buddy have recently decided to start an RP on IRC with a dedicated setting based (although somewhat loosely) on the main comicverse X-Men. Knowledge of the comic books isn't required, we'd love to have you over whether you're a fan of the movies, cartoons, videogames, etc. all the same.
We're just finished with the rules and worldbuilding side of things and already have a small constant playerbase who's there to RP daily. A little more about the game: It's mostly freeform roleplaying, but we have certain rules and a character approval process to keep things balanced. The rules will be very familiar to you if you've played PbP before, the only difference is that most of the RP is done in real time instead (although forum interactions are possible, if players want them). It's a persistent setting, which means that you can come in, RP and leave whenever you want, the story keeps going as long as there are players there to interact. We do have GM'd plots and channel-wide events in the works, but the large bulk of the storytelling is done by the players themselves.
